The trope of characters accidentally saying something out loud in a book or movie... what I find so fascinating as a reader/viewer when experiencing it is that you know the author is very purposefully crafting that moment in the story, and yet, you can still take on the character's shock at having been so unintentionally honest.
When you talked about historical fiction, it reminded me of when I read Addie Larue, and at some point she is vibing in the XVIIIth in Paris at the Sacré Cœur !!! (when it was completed in 1914) it just ground my gears so much that I could not take the book seriously afterwards (especially because it was trying to be really ambitious)
First of all, LOVE THOSE EARRINGS!!!! 😍💜 Second of all, I adore your relationship with your husband... it seems like the two of you are a great fit for each other! 🥰 Much love from America~ 💕
I know this is "old" but I'm just so happy you get to experience this dream trip 🥰 About burnout, the "trick" I use is to pay attention to all the little habits that are good for me. So when I notice I haven't done yoga in a while or journaled or went on walks... I know stuff is not well in my brain 😅
You getting emotional talking about Venice is me when I talk about New Zealand, specifically Waikato where Hobbiton is (now). I had already loved that country for personal reasons before the LOTR movies made there but, to me, it felt like it was fate when those books were adapted into movies and then filmed there of all places. That trilogy of books was my favorite as a kid and throughout my life I've reread it so many times, experiencing it and understanding it in different ways with age, that it holds such a special place in my heart. It has shaped me as a reader, especially a fantasy reader. The books and the movies make me so emotional and I just know that one day when I'm finally able to take a trip to NZ and Hobbiton that I will be an utter mess. I almost want to cry when I just imagine it. It'll be a literal dream come true. I envy how much you've been able to so much so far in your life.
I'm so happy for you that you finally get to travel internationally again! I would also love to do that. I've never been on a vacation that I got to plan, so I'm loong forward to finally do that. Also, the Jack Edwards collab would have been amazing, hopefully next time! 😄
That's so nice! Loved this video, your earrings are beautiful and your travel plans sound amazing! I actually live in Venice so I'm very glad you have so much love for this city! 🥰 i hope you can have a great time!
Yeah!! I'm so happy that you did a Q &A. It is so awesome to learn more about you guys! Love the side reactions with your husband so adorable 🥺 :) LOVE your earrings!! Hope your travels are going well 🤗
Loved the q&a. I think I am feeling a little bit burnout regarding life in general so took a day off to just do whatever the heck I want without any plans. Hope you are having great time travelling!
Strasbourg, definitely recommend, I really enjoyed my time there 😊 and Colmar too so beautiful 😍 ( and I think Colmar was the inspiration for the town from Howls Moving Castle, Sophie’s town.)
Just came back from a trip to Italy which included both Venice and Florence. Jealous that you are just going, it was fabulous there. We also did a wine tour into Tuscan countryside -- a highlight!
when you started talking about venice and how it relates to your childhood because of a book, it also made me a lil emotional because i think have this exact same feeling but with nyc. only difference i still haven’t been able to visit
oh my gosh i never met someone who was also obsessed with the thief lord as a kid! i also went to venice and was excited for the same reason lmao i hope to go back one day also really enjoyed the abandoned theme park with the carousel in seoul cause it also reminded me of the book i hope you have a wonderful trip there❤️❤️
You could take a train from Paris to Annecy. I think the city is pretty unknown, but its location in the French alps is sooo beautiful. Strasbourg is very pretty as well.
I’m so glad you get to travel again !! going to London in a few weeks, so I’m rly excited to see your vlog about this absolutely magical city and get some recs and inspirations from you ! Have fun Cari
aww!! seeing you get emotional about venice has convinced me i need to visit the city asap!! i know the biennale is happening right now so hopefully you'll be able to check out some art too 🤗🤗
If you're still looking for something to do the last week, Marseilles is such a great city to visit! The city is very culturally diverse and cool, with a lot of yummy food. It has both typically Parisian and Mediterranean looks to it, making for romantic and low key surroundings. And the nearby beaches/calanques can be (a literal) hike to get to, but absolutely worth it to see and swim at.
I can understand your feelings about Venice so well. It was kind of the same for me. I knew Venice from The Thief Lord (which I loved and read so many times), and it always felt so unreal to me that such a city really exists and is not just invented! Then, a few years later during a special school trip with my italian class, I visited Venice for the first time and it felt like a dream. I keep returning there because I like it so much, it still has such a magical atmosphere to me. (I'm lucky to live in Switzerland, so it is just about a 8 hours train ride to go there.)
THIRTY? huhhhh. I’m serious when I say i 100% thought you were mid twenties… maybe 24 at most. This is so crazy I can’t believe it. You look SO good girl and everything about you is so refreshing. Truly mind blown ❤️🔥
Your hair looks amazing ❤️ in this!!!! Did you go to the hairdresser just before your travels? But don't get me wrong your hair is ALWAYS AMAZING- no doubt about that... just seems very VERY SHINY in this video 😍🥰
In this one she sounds like the Cottage Fairy, the previous video she sounded like Purple Palace and the one before she sounded like Noelle, you can really tell who Cari has been watching by the way she sounds, I find that cute🌹☺️
You look so beautiful here the earrings the hair your eyes woah I'm so glad you took this time for yourself, so happy you could revisit some places too
I really really love your storytelling! I have rewatched some videos where you are explaining the plots! The best was the crescent city series you did with the charts and explainers.... Can I please request a similar ACOTAR playlist? 🌼
when u said it was summer 30 degrees, i completely lost it. here, in the middle east, its not summer then. its... fire :) it legit almost hit 50 degrees yesterday (47)- IM NOT EVEN KIDDING. today it was so windy with extreme humidity too 😭
How about Rome, Milan, or Barcelona? Or Vienna? I ve got to say... somehow... being "in the same boat" as everyone across the globe during Covid... made me feel really close to all those people and places all over the world. Almost as if I didnt need to travel. And now I am still in Covid mode... and everyone else is out of it. That's the end of feeling close to everyone around the globe ^^
idk if i’m delusional but i swear cari had a video on the naturals series, does anyone know which video it was? i just finished and i want to know her thoughts lmao
@@caricanread omg idk why i thought u diddd, you should defo check them out! same author as the inheritance games and its basically criminal minds for ya

I really admire your lifestyle of reading and travelling. An ideal for living, as Joy Division once said...
i’m so happy (and a little bit jealous) you’re finally travelling !! i actually live in Padua so i hope you enjoy your stay here in Italy
I'm so excited for your trip and you're vlogs. I can't waitttt❤️
6:25 I like this trope too, especially when it’s something that’s surprising to me initially but makes sense in retrospect
I didn't even watch the video yet but FINALLY SHE POSTED YAYAY

Florence is great and it has a bunch of bookstore/cafe type places that are really nice. BUT, it's hot right now.

I can recommend Budapest and Vienna, they are close together and have good train connections 😄
Oh and if you’re in Nice, come to Aix-en-Provence it’s the cutest old provincial town next to it !

Cari could you make a video talking about traveling alone? I really dream of doing that but as a woman I’m also very scared 😬
Me too! I'm scared to walk alone at night even if it's in familiar areas. You're not the only one 😥

What! This is not your main channel 😱 hahaha I’ve just realized you have another bigger channel lol
Cari looks soo young!
Watching all of your videos now after spending roughly 5 hours being aggressively recapped on the Crescent City books ☠️ YOU’RE SO ARTICULATE
You have to read The Dragonlance Chronicles. At least the first one.
