A puller, Joey Frasur who drives Runnin' Block T-Bucket, got back to me and confirmed what I was thinking, "that is has the do with the low center of gravity on these machines." The other thing I came across in the rules is the hitch height is 30" and that should keep enough weight on the rear to balance out that big engine up front. Like tractor classes, these trucks carry a lot of weight in the rear. Most other 4x4 trucks want as little weight on the rear. They want their vehicles weighted up front in the engine and weight box. Joey did mention that some bucket trucks do have roll bars and cages. It just isn't that prevalent on the bigger stages.
Back again for the great show thanks WWPTV the time you invested for all of us to see these great shows

Why do the rules require tractors to have a roll cage but let trucks and t buckets run open cockpits?

WWPTV thanks for the answer! Was just curious as to why. It makes sense after your explanation and thanks to Joey as well
