lyrics: If you should meet this strange family Just forget what some people have said, The Munsters may shake your hand clammily But they're not necessarily dead. Behind their house you mustn't be afraid To see a figure digging with a spade. Perhaps someone didn't quite make the grade With the Munsters, with the Munsters. If when you're sleeping you dream a lot, Ghoulish nightmares parade through your head, And then you wake up and scream a lot, Oh the Munsters are under your bed. At midnight if creatures should prowl about, And if vampires and vultures swoop down. And werewolves and fiends shriek and howl about, Oh the Munsters are out on the town. One night I dared peek through their window screen, My hair turned white at such a crazy scene. Because every evening its Halloween At the Munsters, at the Munsters.
Many classic TV shows have lyrics for their themes. The producer received an extra cut of the profits if he contributed lyrics -- which per contract law are considered "creative content" on his part -- whether or not they were actually used. With ST: TOS and Hogan's Heroes, for instance, it's best nobody ever heard them in first run. I believe the "McHale's Navy" theme has lyrics, too.
II was born in 1978. I have watched and watch this classic television show! I love this theme song, and this is the first time I have heard the lyrics! I wish the lyrics had been included in the original series! I love it! Thank you for posting and sharing this! I love the music and the lyrics!
Great theme song. Imaginative lyrics. Perfect in everyway. Thanks 1964 tv audience for having the patience for opening theme songs. Modern folks do not realize the possible classics like this we are missing due to our limited attention span.
The original theme for the show didn't even have lyrics. It was just 44 seconds. And what are you talking about? Pretty Little Liars, Game of Thrones, The Fosters, etc. They all have theme songs around that same span of time.
+Bianca Gray A 22 minute program has no time for full-length theme songs. Many TV Themes turned into pop hits and sold millions of records. Most of them had lyrics when they were composed. I can't imagine ALL theme songs to be full-length with lyrics each time a show is broadcast on TV. Have some common sense!
Many shows, as the seasons progressed, would cut the original theme even shorter, to either sell more ads, or add more time to the actual episode. (Usually by listing the credits during the opening scene.)

Fabulous, I never in all years heard this version,. I been always a good fan of the monsters one of my favorites of all times,. I'm watching them right now at this moment April 2 of 2023. Cheers from Guatemala City
Herman from the series later played the judge in the movie My Cousin Vinny where he had the famous line "What's a Ute?" Which is a Youth or a Utah Ute. Never mind all that the theme song was great never knew it had words.
Beverley Owen (the original actress who played Marilyn for the first 13 episodes) died 6 months ago yesterday. May she R.I.P. Now the only remaining main cast members are Pat Priest (Owen's successor) and Butch Patrick (Eddie).
This is a really great sound and the lyrics are wonderful. I hadn´t never heard this version before, but it´s both cool and terrific!!! I like it!! : D.
I love the Munsters! I use to watch this show every time I would go visit my grandma as a kid. I have such good memories with this show I can't help but smile when I hear the music 😊 When the song Uma Thurman came out and I heard it the first time. I was like holy shit it's the Munsters theme!!!!!
I love this version of the Munster's Theme Song. If y'all haven't done so yet, y'all need to add Monster Mash, and it's 420 Parody, Monster Hash to this Playlist. That would be so totally awesome to complete this Hallow'en Theme Music Playlist with .
I've been on the box set collection for over 3 weeks now and I'm near to the end, that gives me a great reason to start over once again! Bwaaahh huh huh hah ha huh huh! The MUNSTER' S LIVE!
Don't think I've ever heard this with vocals before. A number of of TV themes had lyrics that we never heard, like "Fishin' Hole," from The Andy Griffith Show" and the theme from Bonanza. Somewhere out there is video of the original cast from Bonanza singing the song.
Rozalin Shadowheart Yup! It is called Fishing Hole actually sung by Andy Griffith on one of his albums back in the day. I am sure it can be found on here somewhere. Another theme song that has lyrics is M*A*S*H which is called Suicide Is Painless which is actually somewhat a depressing song from Johnny Mandel
Would I lie? Well, yuh, cause my name is not reeeallly Jack Tripper, Go figure! It is actually, not really in the same tone but the same tune is there.
Jack Tripper +Rozalin Shadowheart There are several copies of "Fishin' Hole" on UA-cam, as performed by Andy Griffith. He whistles one verse, and that is the one they used for the show.
MerlinsDragon1970 I looked that up, and the Bewitched theme was an original song written for the show by Jack Keller, with lyrics by Howard Greenfield. Although the lyrics were never used in the show, IMDb says that several singers recorded the song including Steve Lawrence and Peggy Lee.
Awesome! I myself will have to check that out. Peggy Lee was a helluva singer back in the day... She was the original artist for "Why Don't You Do Right" from Who Framed Roger Rabbit" although Amy Irving (source: movies.stackexchange.com) made it famous by slowing down the beat and making it sexy sounding style. Peggy Lee's original version was very upbeat and up-tempo style. Wasn't the words to Bewitched featured in the movie? I have not seen it in years even though I own it, and seem to remember them at a casting celebration party and the words was sung by a Frank Sinatra style singer, might have been Jack Keller as you just mentioned himself.

Set the cool factor to maximum boys and girls these cats wrote the book on groovy baby. I’d trade my velvet shorts to go back and hang out with them. Herman went down to the local coffee ☕️ house for some poetry reading. No one has yet come up with some cooler dude rap yet. Those beatniks were blown away by the big green poet. Like man, that cat is deep, far out!

I don't think 🤔 that I have ever heard this song with lyrics before. Eddie was always the creepiest character to me. Marilyn was supposed to be "Hot," but I liked Lily better! I think 💭 it's the eyes? Grandpa was just goofy, but the Dragula and Koach were THE CARS!! And Herman had the weirdest grin that was just strange and sinister all at once! Loved the Fire Breathing Dragon 🐉🐲 under the stairs! But the theme song was always cool 😎!!
Johnny Mandel sung Suicide is Painless which is the theme song to M*A*S*H. Quite a depressing song so don't listen to it if your girl just dumped you for some better looking guy
The old shows are many times the better shows. Today's shows just do not have funny themes to them and it seems they try too hard to make us laugh, as a result, at most we give a chuckle. In fact, and this is no way knocking the fact that you are 15 so please don't get offended, but young children who watch cartoons often like the old Hannah Barbara such as Jetsons and Flintstones and Looney Tunes episodes from the 50's and 60's.
Joe Friday You are so right, I'm a '90's kid and haven't had an interest in television in 5 or 6 years now. There just isn't anything good on for the most part, not like there was. Now it's like two or three themes for jokes and they're all hard for me to do more than cringe at, let alone smile for, and that's if I react to them.

This is quite possibly one of the greatest theme songs of all time.

Addams Family theme much more memorable & better to sing to. No one remembers the words to the Munsters theme.
I think it is
The Munsters & Hawaii Five-O are the 2 best TV theme songs.
Listen to Secret Agent Man from basically the same era :)
THE MUNSTERS THEME was written by Jack Marshall, a guitarist who forever gave The Munsters a place in surf music history.
lyrics:
If you should meet this strange family
Just forget what some people have said,
The Munsters may shake your hand clammily
But they're not necessarily dead.
Behind their house you mustn't be afraid
To see a figure digging with a spade.
Perhaps someone didn't quite make the grade
With the Munsters, with the Munsters.
If when you're sleeping you dream a lot,
Ghoulish nightmares parade through your head,
And then you wake up and scream a lot,
Oh the Munsters are under your bed.
At midnight if creatures should prowl about,
And if vampires and vultures swoop down.
And werewolves and fiends shriek and howl about,
Oh the Munsters are out on the town.
One night I dared peek through their window screen,
My hair turned white at such a crazy scene.
Because every evening its Halloween
At the Munsters, at the Munsters.

what a team. Yvonne De Carlo was gorgeous, coupled with Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis was a classic.
