I have known this driving piece for quite some years. Oddly enough I have never been playing it.
Joe recorded this piece together with Memphis Minnie and what a fantastic job they did! I think it´s just not possible to get that drive with only one guitar.
Anyway, here´s an attempt! Hope you like it!

Now, when I want information on a Blues musician, I consult the Rainer Brunn encyclopedia. It's often more audible and understandable than the original. What you propose is phenomenal. A real well of science Blues. Thank you for all these pleasures.

The blues is born from a small but important life story of a bluesman.. He knows what to sing to share with all of us.. We listen to this song and try it on for ourselves.

Eine Martin 000 mit Mahagoni Korpus? Habe sowas bei Martin gesucht, wurde aber nicht fündig. Da ich bereits eine 000 EC und eine D35 HD mit Palisanderkorpus habe und es bei Gibson Lieferprobleme gab habe ich mich für die CEO7 entschieden. Eine gute Wahl, die kurze Mensur tut meinen alten Fingern gut und der Klang ist einfach Klasse für eine Gitarre mit solch kleinem Korpus. Sehr schöne Höhen was ich sehr vermisse bei den Palisanderhölzern, der Bass ist etwas schwach, aber wenn man es weiss schlägt man eben etwas härter an. Im Gegensatz zur D35 HD wo der Bass sehr ausgeprägt sogar übermächtig daher kommt - aber hier ist es weitaus schwieriger den Bass weniger hart anzugehen. Hier stört auch der Sustain, E + A Seite ca. 1 Zigarettenlänge - fast nur mit gedämpften Bassaiten zu Picken. Eher ein Instrument für Bluegrass.

Richtig, ich erinnere mich, es war wegen der langen Mensur und bei der 00017 Whiskey Sunset war es die matte Lackierung die mich abhielten obwohl die OM' s den besseren Klang haben. Habe Schulter -und Nackenprobleme bis in die Finger, kann nicht mal mehr meine Gibson LP schultern, deshalb die short scale. Ich danke die für die Infos Rainer. Ausser dir habe ich nur noch Daddy Stovepipe hier gefunden, einen Belgier welcher genau wie du die alten Meister wieder zu Ehren kommen lassen und der über eine Menge alter Gitarren mit Seltenheitswert verfügt. Eine Menge Arbeit, wenn man bedenkt, dass es damals oft keine Lyrics oder Tabs im heutigen Sinne gab und man sich alles selbst erarbeiten muss. Ich selbst brauche wohl noch ein weiteres Leben um annähernd in deine Nähe zu kommen und werde bis dahin weiter täglich üben.

Love the playing and that drivin' fingerstyle blues vibe, but I just can't get behind the lyrics on this one.....just can't get inspired about singing about goin' to the slammer. Do you know of any other Kansas Joe stuff that's got a similar riff with another subject! I'm more about 7 foot nine long tall mamas and the like.....
hello carlosfunk 49 and thanks for the kind comment. try out Frank Stoke´s "Downtown Blues", you can use similar licks on that one. and why not play joliet bound and change the lyrics? regards!
carlosfunk49 carlosfunk49 Let me be the one to break the news to you, kid: If you're seeking chirpy, uplifting and positive lyrics, you're looking in the wrong genre. Murder, incarceration, floods, drug addiction, funerals, fire, cheating lovers, (usually resulting in more murder and prison time), alcoholism, dead lovers, unemployment, vicious cops, losing everything by gambling (then some more killing) are what gave the old blues masters "The Blues". I recommend you switch to Smooth Jazz or something else that won't harm your delicate sensibilities.
"Can't get behind the lyrics"? I think that's why it's called... "blues"
