Footage of some great variety acts: the Ganjou Brothers & Juanita; Stanelli & his Hornchestra; Horace Goldin; Wilson, Keppel & Betty; Max Miller; The Beverley Sisters; Slim Rhyder; and Teddy Brown - Розваги
Wilson, Keppel and Betty - brilliantly funny.
Best ever
I came across Wilson & Keppel in a feature film here on YT. At least they made it to the big screen!
Very interesting. My father worked in music hall as a song-and-dance man and was a member of the London Hippodrome theatre company in the 1930s. It's a big regret of mine that he died before I was old enough to appreciate his work on the stage, although I know he worked with Arthur Askey, Gracie Fields, and Jack Buchanan. Whenever he was waiting to take us kids out somewhere (he was always ready to leave before we were), he would stand at the door and go through his old dance steps.
what great acts they were sadly all gone
No, they're still performing... they're just 112 years old.
And no-one to take their place, which is even sadder.
As a child ,I loved the sound of the musical saw
Just love Teddy Brown!👍🏻
Enjoyed this propper entertainment
I have just read Oliver's book, and anyone who is interested in the subject I highly recommend they get this book, what a great read!!!
Bravo!! Much more entertaining than today's crap!!
The first and last acts were just amazing, that girl had nerves of steel!
.....as well as thighs you could crack walnuts with!!
Brilliant
WKB every time! Brilliant.
Fantastic post - thank you. Compare these artists to the pampered and mainly talentless prima donnas of the modern pop and so-called celebrity worlds.
Today's rubbish
Как это прекрасно!
The guy on the Xylophone was incredible. Where has all the talent gone?
Сатанисты убрали со сцен таланты, и подменили их бесами.
If you like this video, check out the sequel. Just type 'British Variety Theatre 2' into the search window of UA-cam
There was a lot of real talent around in them days.
Not today,
А сейчас, нужно быть бесноватым отморозком, чтобы попасть на сцену, по другому не пропустят.
RIP Merian Ganjou
Great book!!! such a great read.
this is the original Bette's daughter. She could not use her arm muscles, so had to do one handed cart wheels.
Well some of them would had won The Talent shows.
Proper entertainment, not like the rubbish nowadays.
Shite
Everyone is entitled to their opinion
all that orchestrated sound, coordinated movement, and boundless talent... Not the product of syncopated A.I.! To young folks today, that might seem unbelievable, but raw talent was once enjoyed before it became duplicated, scripted, manufactured, bottled and bombarded on you by marketers. Those were the days.
Tricky..
more Max Miller please !and less Bruce Springston - who's one example of an over-rated " genius" who's annoying and can't sing - Whatever happened to real talents Like Max Miller ? - Now we're all supposed to like mediocre performers like Michael Jackson or really lousy ones like Brittany Spears - No one covers a single song by anyone today cause almost no one can write even a mediocre one !
No great talen nowadays.
Как все убого и безвкусно...печалька
Bill Bailey does that car horn thing, much better.
what a load of crap we watched
lennie capuano yeah not a patch on Scarlett Moffatt
More crap today,
I think people were more easily pleased then maybe more naive. I love Wilson Keppel and Betty but the rest of it is embarrassing
No wonder they all happily went off to war, getting shot at was better than watching that lot.
real horse faces
