MASSIVE Rains in The Sabi Sands | Cyclone Eloise (Vlog 1)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 лют 2021
- We're lucky enough to visit Blair's family who work at Savanna Lodge in the world-renowned Sabi Sands Game Reserve, however we run into some serious rains and flooding as Cyclone Eloise passes over. Luckily, we still got treated to some incredible wildlife sightings before heading onto the Kruger National Park.

Wow beautiful massive African bull elephant !
He was beautiful and so calm too ☺️
Wow, excellent footage of the floods. The buffalo clash for dominance must have been hectic. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Thanks so much Wendy & glad you enjoyed it
The footage was awsome. Those elephants were so close to you guys. Wonderful. Xxxx
Thanks Mary :) The elephants were very close to us indeed, got the heart rate pumping for sure!
Yes, WOW-WOW-WOW 😊
Great footage … Sabi sands is our favourite too ❤
Wow!! Must have been divine......the sound of rain on a thatched dwelling and the smells after a downpour.....I miss home😪
Brilliant photography of the close up of the animals , more of this PLEASE !!!
Thanks Duncan :) Sure thing, there are a bunch more vlogs from this trip to come still!
Those close up encounters with the elephants at the end were incredible!
Some very good and "close-up" footage... Just subscribed (Love from Australia 😊)
South African wildlife is some of the best in the world 😍🌍 that buffalo fight! Wow, what a sighting!?
I agree, especially in the Sabi Sands for some reason - it's just on another level compared to anywhere else!
That buffalo fight was crazy, glad that you appreciated that too :)
Sabi sands 😍😍
This was amazingly done thank you !
Thank you ☺️
@@NicoleEddy1 I have really been enjoying your videos thank u so much !
this is just epic. I`ll watch this vlog again with my wife later :)
Thank you 😊 So glad that you enjoyed it enough to watch it twice 🙈
Great video guys! This is my exact life project at the moment!!
The cute little bubba elephant vs that big giant 😊😊😊

I'm from India never seen before your video/photography unbelievable very very exciting for me

ENJOY HAPPY LIFE.
Wow Nicole! Great vlog! Love all the special effects especially the bird captions. Look forward to #2. Cheers! 😍
Thanks Gerry :) I'm working on the after effects with the bird captions etc., hoping to learn more skills and clean it up a bit as I continue learning new stuff!
What a stunning video!! Loved every second!! 😊😊
Thanks so much :)
Just absolutely amazing...all I can say the elephants footage was brilliant 🐘
Thanks Stuart :)
Cant wait to travel to South Africa! Much love from Singapore
Thanks Bobby :) Shout if you need help with where to go, stay or what to do!
That was a verrrryyyy long drive😳😳. And I was complaining about Joburg to Kimberley !!!!
Haha, it was long, but if you leave early enough, it's not too bad :)
So relaxing.
Hey Nicole . I was aware of you because of your Southern Africa trek with a previous , so imagine my surprise when a familiar face popped up on a Kruger video . Deep respect for doing the CT to PM road trip , rather you then me . I am sure there would have been long periods of boredom but that special Ellie sighting would have made the journey unforgettable . Keep well , stay safe and I look forward to watching the second Kruger vlog later today . Peace .
Thanks for your comment :) Luckily Blair's family lives in JHB so we've got used to the drive up and then from JHB to Kruger you know that you're getting close to the park, so the excitement keeps you going! I hope that you enjoyed the second vlog.
This is still on my bucket list!. Wonderful video.
Amazing, definitely something that you won’t regret doing 🐘
The filming and editing of this video is truly amazing new support from me.
Thanks Andrew & welcome to the channel :)
Stunning, absolutely stunning!
Thanks Carl :)
Your guide is Neil Whyte, isn't he? I loved their videos during lockdown! Great video as always Nicole, thanks for sharing! The more bush content, the better :)
Yes, Neil was our guide, he's actually part of Blair's family hence why we were visiting :) I also loved those 'Stay At Home' safari's, such fun :) I'm glad that you enjoyed the video & vlog 2 will be going live on Sunday!
Wow 😳 awesome content thankyou for your beautiful video
Thanks so much Sarah, I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
@@NicoleEddy1 looking forward to your next video
You did a great job on filming and editing! Thanks for taking us along on this incredible journey! Hopefully international travel will soon be allowed again, cant wait to be back there myself
Thanks so much Ruwen & I'm so happy that I can show people around the world this epic place :) Fingers crossed that travel opens up soon, South Africa is pretty safe to travel to at the moment with only 566 new cases reported yesterday - so hopefully the good trajectory continues!
Awsome footage, particularly animals, and editing work! High quality. You deserve so much more recognition!
What a lovely comment ☺️ Thank you so so much!
Ahhh, can't we go back???? Already miss the bush like crazy!
Another nice video.
AMAZING, what beautiful animals. Rain is always a blessing. Thank you for sharing such a fantastic, breathtaking video despite the rain❣️🐘🦉🦌🐆🐯
Thank you :) I agree, I actually love the rain, especially seeing it come down in this full force and knowing that it's not everyday that you'll see these smaller rivers flow.
currently in kenya for the next few months, hoping south africa will be safe to visit by october for my birthday!
Amazing, Kenya is so beautiful :) South Africa is pretty safe to travel at the moment - we had 566 new cases reported yesterday & of those only 21 were recorded in the Western Cape/Cape Town. Hopefully the good news continues until your birthday in October!
The ellies were a sight, for sure! Such gentle (sometimes) giants!
They really are, it's always special (and nerve-wracking) being so close to them :)
Scary fight for dominance yhooooo!!!
Great video!
Thanks!
I love all the footage of the animals. Those heavy buffalo's I would not want to mess with haha. Always the best time when you document your wildlife escapades. Great video, Nicole 🐶
Thanks Sven & yes, you don't want to be anywhere near those big buffalo bulls...ever , haha! I'm so happy that you enjoy these videos, I always think that people aren't such a fan of the safari videos, but glad to hear otherwise :)
That is some up close and personal. Some amazing scenes
The Sabi Sands specialises in 'up close and personal', haha, but that elephant bull was seriously something else! Thanks for watching :)
@@NicoleEddy1 Yes that was national geographic level. I would love to explore the wild life in such a moment
You videos are making us miss our beautiful South Africa 😍
wow, simply thank you Nicole :)
Thanks so much Charlotte :)
Looking forward to the next vlog.....awesome footage!!!!!
Thanks Sara, it should be up on Sunday but I'll keep everyone posted on my Instagram :)
At the entrance to the park, what are they checking for under the car, at least I guessing that’s what the mirror on a wheel is for. BTW keep the videos coming, your one of the few you tubers that makes places seem real.
Thank you so much :) They're checking underneath the cars for any guns or anything suspicious that could be linked to poaching. It seems that for a while poachers used the undercarriage of the car as a place to stash illegal firearms.
Wauw! Beautiful vlog! Amazing with the wild life footage. I also really like the footage of that panther! And the moment with the 🐘!! Thanks nicole! Looking forward to next vlog!
Thanks so much :) That's a leopard as opposed to a panther, another one of the big cats. They are truly beautiful, especially that big male that you saw in the video.
Obsessed. So obsessed with these landscapes I misspelled obsessed 8x whilst writing this :)
Tricky word though to be fair...thanks for your perseverance with getting it right in the end, haha.
Enjoyed the video much.....xx
*Sweeet. Watching now Nicole.*
Thank you :)
@@NicoleEddy1 You're welcome 😊
Magical encounter...absolutely!
It truly was so special : )
Thanks for sharing.. You didn't go for the rain, however, it's quite spectacular to see it all like this ! Great vid !
It's always fascinating (and rewarding) to see dams/rivers go from being empty to flowing especially in the bush before the dry season starts :)
Amazing journey, amazing footages! Thank you Nicole! 👍✌️❤️
Thanks Alex, glad that you enjoyed the vlog : )
Lovely.
Thanks Linda :)
AMAZING blog thank you so such, i have watched your channel from day 1 so again thank you, darren from Northampton England.
Wow, OG subscriber here! Thanks Darren, can't tell you how happy that makes me to know that you've stuck around!
Wow! Love your narration & storytelling in this one
Thanks so much Yash :)
A magical place!! Thank you for sharing your trip!! Can’t wait to see vlog #2.💓
Thanks Kate :) Hopefully vlog 2 will be up on Sunday!

Thanks Dean :) Stay tuned for vlog 2 on Sunday!
Wow! ❤️❤️❤️
Superb nicole love your blog off your journey through the wildlife trip seeing the animals wild and free that’s my dream trip any tips for best places go and stay both enjoy the rest your trip take care
Thanks Gillian & I'm so glad that you enjoyed the wildlife vlogs, luckily there are a lot more to come over the next couple of weeks!
Of course, I actually run a small tour operator whereby we create itineraries fro clients wanting to visit Southern Africa & experience a safari, so I'd be more than happy to help you out (the email is in the description).
But the Greater Kruger is definitely a safari destination that I'd recommend (so that's Sabi Sands, Klaserie, Timbavati, Balule etc.) but it is all budget dependent.
So cool
This Video is incredible...WOW
Thanks so much Mark :)
Aah we saw you guys! We were having hotdogs for lunch and watching bee eaters on the Luvuvhu river bridge when you were stopped there looking at the African harrier hawk. I think its called a Gymnogene now? I believe the river flooded the bridge the next day. We eventually made it out Malelane gate five days later. Never seen the park with so much water, so beautiful! Best footage ever. (and one day ours will be as good as yours ;-) )Glad you were safe!
No ways, what a small world! I actually remember seeing two people eating on the bridge as we were trying to get a closer look at the African Harrier Hawk. Such a pity that the Pafuri picnic site & fever tree forest road was closed, by far my favourite part of the Kruger, but as you said, we've also never seen so much water in the park before!
Thanks for the awesome comment & I hope that the rest of your trip was one to remember :)
Awesome.
Thank you :)
Nice video, I enjoyed watching this more than your local CT vlogs.
Thanks Kavesh :) Definitely nice to get out of the city!
great video...the sabi sands delta!
It honestly looked the Delta in some parts, so magical!
wonderful
Thank you :)
I love the Savannah
Nothing like it!
Wrong time of year to go game viewing especially off-road 😉 great video all the same 👍
Thank you! Summer is definitely not the best time for game-viewing, however is the best time of year for bird-watching which we love :)
Seriously an amazing footage!!! Can we ask what camera you use for filming? Thank you, the elephant encounter was so beautiful.
Thank you so much :) I'm using a GoPro Hero7, an old Sony a6000 with a 24-240mm & 16-35mm lens, and then Blair was helping me film on his Canon 80D.
Sabi Sands
Nothing quite like it :)
Amazing channel 👏 I'm new subscriber
From Somalia 🇸🇴
Amazing! Welcome to the channel :)
@@NicoleEddy1 thanks
Would one day want to do a roadtrip from Nairobi to capetown🚗🚦🛣...and south african roads look much better compared to here...tho really enjoyed the video and as always, the music
Such an awesome road-trip to do, I did that back in 2017 & loved it :) Thanks for your lovely comment!
8:58 - for a moment I mistook the downspout for an elephant's trunk... :)
😂
Awesome video!! We were in Capetown last January for a few days and then flew to Kruger and stayed at Savanna. It was amazing. We are from Canada and our trip was all planned so we didn’t need to worry about anything. We are planning on coming back this January. We want to rent a car and explore on our own next time. Is it safe to do that drive?
Speaking as a South African, the trip from Cape Town to Kruger is safe as long as you stick to the major highways. Just be careful to stay awake on those long, endless straight roads, esp around Laingsburg/Beaufort West on the N1, but at least they're in good condition. Here's an interesting blog by people who did want you want to do. Happy travels!
www.traveller.com.au/from-cape-to-kruger-7nmk
@@ksc743 thanks a lot for the info. That’s very helpful.
@@mikefarrow9875 pleasure✌ I read their blog after posting my comment about taking the N1.
I would take their route rather if you're not in a hurry. The south and east of South Africa is the most beautiful and the most beautiful city is Cape Town. The smaller towns along the south and up past the Drakensbeg mountains are the prettiest. As they mention, don't drive at night and stick to well-known roads. I've never had a problem travelling around SA though. Enjoy!
No ways, and who did you have as your guide? Such a small world & I'm so happy that you loved Savanna, it was a special place. I'm always an advocate for self-drive holidays as it gives you a lot more freedom, and South Africa lends itself to being an incredible self-drive destination.
Which drive are you wanting to do particularly? The Cape Town to Kruger or drive within Kruger yourself? I see Penelope gave you some great info with regards to routes and self-driving in SA as well. I'd be happy to help you further should you need :)
@@NicoleEddy1 hi there, I know your comment was meant for Mike farrow. Just wanted to say I'm new to your awesome channel and sometimes forget until a few videos in to click on drop boxes. I see now that you have a range of services that you offer. Had I looked there first I would have suggested they contact you because navigating a country like ours could do with some inside info.
I'm loving your videos. The photography is amazing. I can't believe the quality and clarity. Look forward to watching more of them!
As I always say for Cape Town: "If someone can please find that wind dial, please turn it back a notch or six."
Oh my word, I second this!
I hear ya. Living in the western prairies of Canada it seems to never stop!
👍💖👍
Where did you stay I’m going to the greater Kruger Area in august so need to find a cool place to stay
We stayed at Savanna Lodge as Blair has family who work there. I’m happy to help you find a spot as well through my tour operator - we do a lot of bookings in Greater Kruger area 😊 You’re welcome to email me on nicole@africaunearthed.com even if it’s just for extra info.
“First it was corona and now it’s the rain” 😂
That cracked me up!
I like this boyfriend must better 😌
*future hubby 😉😂
