Ya, there’s so much beautiful music out there, keep exploring, ever changing songs and instrumental melodies these talented musicians exhibit. What’s Going On
I'm just a few years behind you, but clearly we grew up in the era of Marvin Gaye, Donald Byrd and the beautiful, beautiful music of those days. So happy for recordings, vinyl and the rest.
Dag, did not know blue note had these masters. Marvin Gaye and Professor Byrd some of the best artist in the city of Detroit . What a magnificent arrangement.
This reminds me of when My Father would have his fellas over, the House would reak of that sess Bud, slapping those Domino's an the table, I'd have my door crack catching a contact, thinking I couldn't wait till I get grown,so I can do the same, lol, he'd played All the cuts, I got my music history from him, Born an raised in the Chi, 45th an Calumet, 39th an lake park, So.Sd,an East Sd, 75th Yates, from cuts like THIS, REAL MUSIC, not this bullshit now days they calling Music, keep REAL MUSIC ALIVE people, play THIS FOR your Seed so they KNOW what REAL MUSIC IS... I like both Marv and Donald Byrd's versions. Marv puts his own jazzy flow to these songs and they sound so good. Most people don't even realize how deep Marv was musically. He was a griot and a prophet with a voice that could change your mind and your mood. I remember falling in love with "Where Are We Going" and pretty much everything by Donald Byrd and the Black Byrds when I was a teenager growing up down Saigon in South Philly. Listening to WDAS at night and WKDU would have you high off of music all weekend long. WKDU put me down with artist like Michael Franks, Flora Purim, Chick Correa, Alphonso Johnson, Michael Natada Walden, Gary Bartz, etc. when I was 15 years old. I many of you came up listening to these artist and more if you like these masterpieces being played here. Donald Byrd and Marvin Gaye gaves us some beautiful music that also enlightened our consciousness.
NJ in the house and I’m chilling with 2 of the Great Masterminds...Wherever each of us may be from, we’re All on the same Energy right now... it’s a shame this generation hasn’t a clue🎶🎶❤️❤️✊🏾✌🏾✌🏾
I saw Marvin perform several times when I was a teen and it was an honor to see Byrd as a young adult. This is making me happy/sad because they were two of the best to ever do it!!! 💃 Rest on
This goes to show that the music industry back in the day (and today) were and are just a bunch of hijackers of beautiful music and only understanding the bottom line. From the companies to the radio stations all that mattered was the buck. I'm a little pissed that I haven't heard this colabo before, especially since it is so beautiful. This greedy mindset would rather bury music rather than present it to the people in as many forums as possible. Even the other music forums today lack the depth and diversity of UA-cam. I have heard dozens of unreleased, or musical extensions to songs that never made it out to the general public with an honest chance to be heard. Thanks for the posting!

Man this a casual walk back in time when people thirst for some good music.. Marvin Gaye vocally is in a class by himself.. I remember Donnie Simpson from the old Video Soul show on BET running around Lake Michigan while legend pro football player Lem Barney , a defensive safety or corner for Detroit Lions, running backyards and then all of sudden you hear this beautiful voice. Like something you never heard before or since.. You captured by the sound and you realize that’s its great Marvin Gaye.. And you as most people do when they hear something unique, there ears don’t lie. They stop and stare.. Remember that quote from the James Brown movie.. In other words we know its good because it excites and calms us at the time.. The struggles of life played out on notes from a page.. These beautiful creators of music reach deep off into the minds and soul .. I didn’t catch all that why don’t you play it again.. In other words shut and play it over.. But this time don’t talk all the way through the song to let me escape into a beautiful soft melody and lose myself in days gone past..LB lover of Old Skool June 2021…Rest in Peace Older Brothers Paul and Fatia , …

it wasn’t a collaboration. the mizell brothers wrote these cuts for marvin and motown shelved them. donald byrd ended up using them on the black byrd and street lady albums.
