    this is a great video. I am new to making perfumes, I would like to know if I want to scale this, how do I go about that?

    • @AloraDillon
      @AloraDillon  Рік тому +4

      My apologies for the late reply, @GenyJulissa... There are 2 ways you could scale this formula. One example is to convert the drops to percentages:
      Sweet Moss Specialty Base 0001 - 35 Drops
      Amber Specialty Base 0001 - 24 Drops
      Floral Specialty Base 0001 - 35 Drops
      Citrus Specialty Base 0001 - 6 Drops
      Because these add up to 100, you could do a simple conversion... such as 35% of SMSB 0001, 24% of ASB 0001, 35% of FSB 0001 and 6% CSB 0001. This would not be exact, but can be close.
      The most accurate way to scale up would be to WEIGH the total of drops and convert to percentages.
      For example:
      Sweet Moss Specialty Base 0001 - 35 Drops = .805 Grams
      Amber Specialty Base 0001 - 24 Drops = .504 Grams
      Floral Specialty Base 0001 - 35 Drops = .875 Grams
      Citrus Specialty Base 0001 - 6 Drops = .108 Grams
      Total = 2.292 Grams
      Now, you need to find the percentages.
      SMSB 0001: .805 / 2.292 = 35.12%
      ASB 0001: .504 / 2.292 = 21.99%
      FSB 0001: .875 / 2.292 = 38.18%
      CSB 0001: .108 / 2.292 = 4.71%
      TOTAL: 100%
      Now, if you want to upscale, you can take the total grams of concentrate you want to make, such as 5000 grams, and then multiply it by the percentages for each material.
      5000 grams total fragrance concentrate would look like this:
      SMSB 0001: 5000 x 35.12% = 1756 Grams
      ASB 0001: 5000 x 21.99% = 1099.5 Grams
      FSB 0001: 5000 x 38.18% = 1909 Grams
      CSB 0001: .5000 x 4.71% = 235.5 Grams
      TOTAL: 5000 Grams
      These percentages are most accurate and you can use ANY total weight you want and multiply by the percentages you get.
      Again, the example above is the most accurate and will give consistent results over and over.
      I hope this was helpful and I'll be sure to make a tutorial video for this exact question!

    Not sure if you’ll reply but how long does the perfume last? I’m a newbie and would like to start making my own perfumes as I can’t find a scent I’m looking for :( I’ve heard using a fixative is good to use to make the scent long lasting. Would you recommend?

    • @AloraDillon
      @AloraDillon  11 місяців тому +3

      Good day, @chuugi7769 and welcome to the channel! ❤ Excellent question.... Hate to use the typical answer of "it depends".... but unfortunately, that's the right answer. Depending on the level of concentrate you use in your final blend plus your own scent chemistry and your environment... meaning, is it hot, cold... etc. Is it humid or dry. Also, do you place it on your skin in a place that heats up quickly like your chest or do you place it on places that are less heated such as your clothes. There are so many factors that play into whether or not a fragrance lasts. Also, those who spray their wrists and wash their hands often during a day will find that the fragrance, or any fragrance, will not last as long as we naturally will wash higher up on our wrists when we wash our hands and wipe off the excess with a towel... which takes the fragrance with it.
      So... for a longer lasting smell that you can enjoy all day, might I suggest taking a clay pendent and spray the fragrance on it and let the natural warmth of your skin heat up the pendant and release the fragrance. This way, you can enjoy it longer AND it smells like what it should smell like out of the bottle. With our own skin chemistry changing every fragrance... since we are the final ingredient to every formula... and since, believe it or not, fragrance was never meant to be put on the skin... you can enjoy the fragrance you love using a clay pendant via necklace or even clay pendent earrings or bracelets. This will keep the fragrance clean and truer to what the fragrance would smell like straight from the bottle.
      I hope this was helpful... and sorry for the long response! I can ramble. LOL ❤❤❤ ~ Alora

      @AloraDillon  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much for commenting, @abbesdimiri8839 😍😍😍😍😍 I hope this message finds you and your loved ones doing well and in good health!
      I absolutely love the smell of sandalwood and the aroma materials used to create a creamy sandalwood fragrance. One of my favorites to use is Santaliff by IFF which gives any fragrance a nice creamy sandalwood undertone that blends well with most other materials, especially floral materials. When paired with Iso E Super, the duo creates a powerful diffusive base for any commercial fragrance. Add Hedione to round out any edges and top with your favorite natural citrus such as grapefruit, or bergamot... to go sweeter, you could use Mandarin Orange or Sweet orange. Adding Neroli would spice it up a little and bring a level of sophistication to the fragrance.
      Simple formulations, in my opinion, are best. If a fragrance consists of at least 25% naturals, you will get the complexity you expect from a fine fragrance with many layers to enjoy! Santaliff by IFF paired with a natural sandalwood EO or absolute would do just that!
      I hope this was helpful and I hope that you will be able to join us in the future as we start formulating live.
      Sending you lots of loves and huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs 😍😍😍😍😍 ~ Alora
