i can't believe i just found this, it felt like i was there. such a cool thing you did here, --- edited group historical record. please do more of these in the future 💖
Almost 9 years ago already? Damn! This was such a gorgeous show in beautiful Balboa Park. I used to live right down the street from this beautiful park. I would either jog down the harbor or through the park in the early mornings after I got off of my overnight shift. Some of my favorite most peaceful memories are from those mornings when I first moved here and lived right in the middle of downtown San Diego. I moved to California to pursue a music career and almost immediately I found the San Diego music scene to be perhaps the most welcoming and supportive group people I’ve ever met… even to an outsider like me. I was at this reunion show, and I have my own video of it still somewhere in one of my cameras, but I was really far in the back so it’s not as good as this footage. I remember that day (into the evening) there was the typical beautiful San Diego sky backdrop with the small silhouette of planes steadily flying by behind the band above that beautiful royal structure, and as the sun settled the day with the night… somehow it just got better. There’s just something about the air here in San Diego, I fell in love with this city the moment I took a breath of it. Just found out that RF passed a few days ago. While I understand the circumstances which allow for such contrast I’ll always believe that one of the biggest tragedies of existence is how artists die young while politicians seem to live forever. RIP RF
Thx Bryan! I made this for you and everyone else who miss DLJ... I felt like this was the right thing to do... We are lucky to have UA-cam and cameras everywhere these days.
This is absolutely awesome. Thank you so much for taking the time to piece this footage together. The Luau finale is some of the best live footage I've ever seen on video. Sends shivers down my spine. Wish I'd been there.
Since I just saw Hot Snakes in San Diego a couple weeks back, I'm revisiting all the John Reis/Rick Froberg bands. Started with Pitchfork, now onto Drive Like Jehu. Thanks for posting this compilation. Great job, man
The way you compiled this is very reminiscent of the Beastie Boys concert dvd "Awesome I Fucking Shot That" NICE WORK!!! Great day in San Diego. Watching the planes continue to pile in behind everything tied it all together.
i love JR man......that dudes a classic like a sleazy punk rock Hellvis ps.....love that "panorama sweeper" dude.......catch him a few times spinning with the smort fone.
DLJ is the sound track to some of the best years of my life... R.I.P. Rick and thanks.
I was there. Drove down from LA. I'll never forget the feeling of seeing them - it seemed so unreal at the time. RIP Rick. You changed lives.
i was there. i did NOT expect so many people to be there. it was like a reunion . i'd seen them a lot in the early 90's . r.i.p. , rick.
I've watched this 4 times since Saturday. RIP Rick.
@@Nmalson i just watched " it's gonna blow" sigh. Denver. Ely , O , and now Rick.

Thanks for watching. I tried my best.
lol who transcribed their music and gave it to the organ player to play? Poor organist having to try and read atonal rock music
Probably the Swami 🤔
That woman is a world class musician, just saying.
