What's Inside My Rocks? | Using a Tile Saw to Cut Rocks

- In this video, I use my tile saw to cut (slab) a few of the rocks I have collected down on the river gravel beds. It is so much fun to cut into your rock finds and see what secrets they hold. Whenever I find a rock I spend a bit of time wondering what's on the inside, but I must admit, I am usually way off!
I took a few of my curious finds and went to work. What I have realized most of all is that I will be investing in a slab saw this Christmas! I would like to be able to make much thinner slices, especially with rocks that have chalcedony. Regardless, I was still mesmerized by the uniqueness of each rock! Check them out and thanks again for watching me learn and grow as a rockhound!

This video has inspired me to hunt rocks regardless of the fact we don’t have agates and such around here! Thank you!
I’ll take about a dozen of those powdered doughnuts...Great slabs
Mystery ROCKS......heavy 1 looked
like GOLD vein around metal mineral.💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰👑
Next to finding the rocks, cutting is my favorite. It's a mystery what you will find when you open it up. Really amazing pieces here. So cool. Jealous of your wood, still need to find my first piece. Really cool video. Thanks for sharing!
These are my favorites. The contrast from the inside and out is like a lot of people I know. They look kinda rough on the outside, but real gems on the inside 😊
It's crazy sometimes isn't it?
I enjoy videos like this. I'm always fascinated by rock interiors. You just never know! Thanks for all the videos
With my new saw on the way, lots more cutting ahead! I appreciate you watching my videos!
Oh the wonders that are within. How beautiful they all are!
THANK YOU so much for posting the sliced up stones and sharing that sight with us! It adds to our appreciation of the stones, so very much! THANX!!!
Amazing surprises in each one. Now if someone could help you i.d. some of those mystery minerals. I would sure like to know too! Those were all so beautiful I cant pick a favorite, each one was just really cool!!!
Awesome rocks! Getting me a slab saw this week:)
Great finds , you've a good eye, as always thanks for sharing.
I believe that first one you found on the stillwater is called bronzite. I think it is an accessory mineral to the platinum and palladium group ores mines there. Thanks for sharing. Think i need a bigger saw.
Ahhhh! Thank you! Bronzite- it's quite beautiful stuff : )
Loved it sooo much, secretary hoping it would go on forever 👍👌
Best news for you Louis--- I ordered a Covington Slab saw and I am going to be slicing all kind of rocks forever!!!!! I can not wait. I really appreciate you watching!
Rocks are so very deceving the outside and inside can be completely different it's always a nice surprise, the ones you showed were all really nice and I bet tumbling them will be sweet👍
Thanks 406- definitely putting them in line for the tumbler😜!
Very Nice!
In a silver mine all of the silver that is in rocks but exposed to oxygen are black. Oxidized. Ore would have places inside rocks where some of the silver was concentrated. But you also see the black veins in it.
Ooh nice, that is cool :)
Thanks Laurie!
Inspired me to go slice some of my recent finds. Beautiful slices and what colorful surprises on the inside!
That's so great! I also find that by slicing my rocks I learn so much about rocks in general and geology!
I enjoy learning about all the geology as well.
Great slices. How's the 🐕
Oh soooo good! He was running around yesterday with 2 socks and a roll of toilet paper in his mouth. Did you see him in my latest video? He's hilarious...here is a link:

Never seen anything like the one at 2:30!
Right! Me either! I was absolutely shocked when I saw it. Makes me want to slice all my rocks open 😜
Isn't it amazing what is hiding in otherwise plain looking rocks!? I've heard geologists refer to that white powder coating on exposed rocks as "patina".
The blue shimmer looks like labradorite. Keep picking up the ugly ones. Those have been your best slabs.
The one with the shimmer might be hematite
You never know what you will get, life is like a box of chocolates. Lol 😆
