Last time I posted how I was on the verge of being homeless. And listening to your videos calmed me down that night. As of right now I’m waiting for the police to come kick me me my mother and younger siblings out of our home. For not being able to pay 1,500 dollars. However once again as I struggle to sleep, I go on UA-cam and sure enough your video is here. I get to sleep focused on your voice and story bringing me peace and comfort to this night. Hey man, I been where you're at, things may not get better now. You may find yourself in foster care or sleeping at your moms friends house or in the car. I've done all those. Just remember nothing is forever. Keep your head up, be there for your mom and siblings and work towards your future. It's all anyone can do.
My home was foreclosed about 6months ago had no idea what we were going to do. (not all our fault) I am 65 and bf is disabled 66 any way found who bought it and he his renting it to us less then what we paid to the bank ! SO something good will happen to you and family
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, pray for God’s help and you will find a way through this. Never, never, never give up! You will make it!

This story is very exciting. For the record, despite its spelling and basic etymology, sundries/sundry is not pronounced like as in to dry. It’s like Sundree. Don’t know why but it means like basic foodstuffs available for purchase, historically at a waystation but more in late 70s/ modern context it basically means snacks, smokes or drinks.

A few decades ago, there used to be a television series in the UK produced and presented by the British author Roald Dahl called Roald Dahl's tales of the unexpected. This particular tale would've fit right in - macabre with a subtle twist.

Absolutely outstanding story! My utmost respect to the author. I love the creatures and the concept of the Old Deck they came up with. Very Lovecraftian.
Your narration was superb as always, although I would recommend you look up the ponunciation of "rouge". It's not like "rogue" it's like "rooge".
It would also be awesome if you could upload the text as subtitles, because the algorithm does not recognize the fantasy names and some other words. As a non-native English speaker it's always easier for me to understand the words correctly if I see them written.

Tell your mom to call #211 if your in the us. It's an emergency program for all kinds of situations they will be able to find help for your family whatever it be paying for a hotel or helping your mom get caught up on the house payments. It's basically a directory for assistance.

While great writing, and a great story, writing that made me want to know what happens next.
I feel the ending was lackluster. Writing is tough, and endings are tough, but I feel that all this lore and buildup resulted in something that didn't deliver a punch.
Sure, the protag lived a "happy life" to the end of his days. And one can understanding wishing for the antag to die by one's own hand since the antag was, in the protags mind, responsible for being a true "djinn/monkey paw", granting wishes knowing there's a ton of catches that will bring more hurt to you than good. thus leading to the protags friends self termination.
But it just felt like a fizzle there at the end.
Of course, the story itself has nothing to do with the Narration. As always, the narration was top notch content.
Thank you for the work you put out.

@@Viidith22 I know you don’t know me but I’ve been listening to you to fall asleep for almost 5 years now ptsd and narrations are the only way I can sleep your my favorite narrator and somnium. The 2 best on here for sure after that it’s romrex, big daddy stone. Lighthouse horror, mr creeps . Creepy ghost stories. Mr darkness , animas . Raven reads , let’s read, insomnia stories. The rest are just average after that

Story was well told, but that was a hell of a long way to go for simple revenge. Especially after he said he cheated on him.
Edit: That said, this has some great material. Wonder if the Old Deck mythos is taken from Lovecraft or just highly inspired by it? Certainly a lot to work with for future stories.
This would make for an excellent movie or Twilight Zone/Black Mirror episode.

Gonna be honest here. The ending was a let down compared to the massive build up in a great story.
To think the 5 with knives wouldn’t have killed him first,,,, or that the game wouldn’t have a rule where you couldn’t wish for such an action. I don’t know. Seemed like the author built a great story and couldn’t think of a good ending.
Still good. The last sentence kind of messed it up. I’d rather not know what he asked for.
I completely agree all that build up ended in a letdown... Though I think it was a letdown because if he wished to kill the guy it seemed like it was a wasted wish if there was new invitations being sent to what seems like the same experience and I'm assuming the same guy running it, meaning he's alive.
@@imjustwolf As I understood it, the protagonist was still an asshole and had no wish to entirely stop the experience. He just killed the dude that he considered responsible for the death of his friend/lover.
It seems that somebody else is now running the experience as it has been renamed to some kind of festival and seems to be a little different in atmosphere.

The story was so good right up til the ending where it became so hacky and literally makes no sense. With the power to choose anything he ever wanted he simply chose an option that would’ve created a paradox. How do you end something that is immortal? Such a shame. Could’ve been such an awesome story and I hate how they try to make the protagonist out to be some great person in the midst of the truly terrible trash that occurred at the festival.
