More distractive junk. Always trying to get you to look away from the road. Get rid of all that stuff and drive the car yourself. Im so sick of that junk that is of no use!
I bought the base trim 2022 Kona with the naturally asperated 2.0 liter 4 cylinder. I have driven it now 26,000 miles so I have a good feel for it. I am both happy and mad that I bought it. The radiator failed and needed to be replaced by 10K miles. The fuel injectors are so noisy that people walking along the street turn to look. The belt on the CVT 'whines' when the transmission is cold. There is next to ZERO cargo room. I placed a golf bag (barely) into the cargo area. It took 3 tries. Since it is built on a car chasey, it lacks ground clearance and even with all wheel drive, I became stuck on a two foot snowbank. Enough about the negatives. The gas mileage is surprisingly good. I am averaging 32 mph. Of course I drive a lot of highway miles. The ride is smooth and responsive, being on a car frame this doesn't surprise me. The interior is nice, a good bit of plastic but overall still nice. The electronics never fail to work. The safety features are many. I wish I had the blind spot monitor and adaptive cruise control but short of that I am very happy with the features. The price was under $24K which is a very good price in today's market for an all wheel drive vehicle. With the CVT I am doomed to changing the 'forever ATF fluid' every 50K if I wish to have the transmission make it to 200K miles. I have been a Corolla man (over 1.1 million miles combined with 3 Corollas) and wanted to give the Kona a chance. The whining transmission has me worried....
I was thoroughly impressed with the base awd model, I think its trim level is named "Essential". It didnt have a sun roof, didnt have an electric tail gate and it had a manual parking break. It had power windows, cruise control and airconditioning. Everything I want and nothing I dont
Just got this exact model. It's basically a toned down Golf R with better dashboard controls. 195hp, AWD, DCT. It's actually smaller than a Golf. Great little daily driver, thanks to Hyundai superb adaptive cruise and other driver assists. Very sporty and fun. I love it.
We really enjoy your videos...We are thinking about buying the Kona essential fwd However have just been informed there is a serious problem with Hyundai engines burning up... Has this problem been fixed?
At first I was like did he just say this is where you find your steering wheel. And then you started talking about the trunk as being a great place to store your groceries and I almost ran here to ask you if you were on drugs. I'm glad I stayed for the rest. Seems like it was a pretty honest review. I'm thinking about grabbing a Kona Limited myself. It looks like it's pretty much what I want which is just a smaller crossover vehicle with excellent handling and decent gas mileage. I like the Santa Cruz as well but it's just a little bit more expensive, but all in all Hyundai is doing some pretty nice things with their vehicles right now.

Some of the electronics on this vehicle are very cutting edge, however electronics are not gonna keep the vehicle going, it's the mechanics, Unfortunately GDI engines with Turbos have a history to carbon the back of the intake valves as well as the timing chain area, these are not cheap fixes. Manufacturers introduced GDI and Turbos to get another 3 miles per gallon out of the vehicle. We will stay with sequential fuel injection & timing chains, a proven method.!! Good video sir! 👍
I'm coming from a 2012 Nissan Juke that saved my life in a head on collision with a deer at highway speeds. It looks a bit goofy (you'll often hear "frog" and "sporty" mentioned in the same sentence), but I loved the Juke. The Kona, spec wise, seems to be extraordinarily similar. The turbocharged 4 cylinder, the eccentric headlights and front body styling, the beautiful but simplistic interior. It's basically an updated Juke with a softer, slightly more mainstream body style. I'm going to test drive this guy tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it.
I have the 2020 lime green ultimate version and it’s perfect for me. I really think this car was targeted for younger drivers like me. I’m a single 25 year old with no kids and I feel like I have so much room lol. Even when I have passengers in the car they never complain about the space. I don’t think this is a SUV for families. Just get a Hyundai Tucson if you need more space because it’s basically a bigger version of the Kona 🤷🏽♀️
I'm from mass but can't go there now. They make California look republican. They are fried. Anyway! Yes, I see the Kona all over. I really like it and am considering one in the future. I'd do the turbo but I don't know if I'll be able to put 200k on that engine. I have the 2.0 in my elantra. It's very reliable. 104k. Not one engine issue.
On the slow infotainment system: It sped up quite a bit after I did the latest update. But before that, it was quite laggy compared to the same system in other Hyundai/Kias. Very odd.

It makes no sense to me when Hyundai does not use the SAME TWIN EXALUST PIPES, which is on the N-Line, in the Limited. Ridiculous, since the Limited is a VERY SPORTY LOOKING VEHICLE TOO. What was Hyundai thinking. If it had the twin exhaust pipes it MAY SCARE AWAY THE OVER 40 AND ABOVE BUYERS????
"Look at the instrument cluster on the right, it indicates that the lead vehicle in front of me has moved away!! Isn't that brilliant? So smart! Love the technology and safety features!!!".....What's so "Brilliant" and "Smart" about that? Don't you have eyes? I could see how it would be "brilliant, so smart and safety technology" if you was an actual blind person driving vehicle.
In my personal opinion I am a “new” driver so I do find myself sitting a bit closer to the pedals just in case but I’m 6’2” and in my driving position I have enough room to move my legs freely… but I agree with every other aspect of the car except the emblem like it just looks unexpecting and a bit off now that it’s not on the grille? Like every other car does. If they don’t do both 💀

When the car recognizes that the front one drives away im like “my eyes do the same thing”

Those are some serious downsides, there.

Appreciate your honest thoughts on the child seats. Not all reviewers mention about child seats.
And there’s no way it fits a weeks worth of groceries in the trunk
@@Weatheredstorms1 That's what immediately threw me off.

Ok, I got it. I knew something was off when you explained “this is the engine bay where you can find your cylinders, your washer fluid, etc.”
I totally missed the joke, why was he saying those obvious things? Was he responding to a troll? 😂😂😂
I’m glad you did the 2nd part of the video because I was like…. Is this guy for real? When you said the trunk is a good place to put groceries lol
We are shopping for a car to haul future grandkid, this was helpful. I really like the wheel design.

This is the new Smartstream engine. It has a timing chain.
modern kia engines have dual injection. Direct and Multiport.

For delivery and navigation.. I’m not seeing a good spot for a phone mount. What would you suggest? Great second half of the video!
On the windshield w suction cup
Nicely sized for practicality and parking. I still have not gotten use to Hyundai and Kia’s front lighting arrangement.
Other reviewers have mentioned in 1.6 Turbo a jerkyness between 1st & 2 ND. Did you feel that was a problem?
No , I thought it was quick!

This video is hilarious, I love the “place to store your groceries” lolololol
I’m an idiot… don’t believe anything I say LOL
Is this car good in the snow? How’s the gas?
I have two car seat needing kids like you, would you say they’d be too uncomfortable leg room wise back there for long (3 hour+) family car trips?
Probably
Defenetly like the front of former model, not even a contest!
In general how is the reliability?
Why is this video capped at 720p?!
I had this car for a rental but on the dashboard it says driver Advance can someone explain to me what that means
Perfect car for me to go back and forth
Lol

I turned this off after he informed me that the trunk is the most preferred place for my groceries and how I might organize my grocery storage.
