I don’t like how much stirring the cabbage got maybe a wooden spoon would be better to cook with . Other wise every thing looks great! Good job ! Love your comment on appreciation and saying thanks.
I also remember that we all had to pitch in. One of us kids would have to set the table, another would make Kool-Aid, lemonade, or tea, the oldest would make a salad. And, a prayer was always said.
You cook the way my Grandma and mother did, and I loved it when you said that everything had to be done at the same time. Young cooks don’t seem to understand this.

My Mama used to cook like this...all through the late 60's, 70's, 80's, and even into the 90's. She is still alive, but much too old to cook now. I think she misses it as well. Boy...do I miss her cooking. Thankful though...that I had it for as long as I did. She was Southern Oklahoma raised, in the 50's, and raised her children in South Texas and South Louisiana. So she had many influences. I remember the 8 or so years we lived in South Louisiana, and she learned from an old Cajun neighbor, how to cook a chicken and sausage gumbo. Just so good. And because of Texas...she made many Mexican dishes. But it was her Oklahoma Midwestern dishes like her fried chicken and homemade biscuits, (things she was taught by her mother), that really stood out. I think women who cook...are a blessing from God. May the Lord bless you...and thank you for your time, making this video. You have a new subscriber. Two thumbs up...👍☀️👍

That’s the only way to keep from having a wrecked kitchen when you’re done. At this stage in my life I’m the only cook in the house so I’ve got to do it all by myself every time I cook!
😲: Food snobs commenting on your etiquette when it came to food and table manners. These people watch everything when it comes to others. Just like another UA-camr, Soulful T says: "Your kitchen your way, my kitchen my way". You handled their comments with dignity and class! You did a wonderful job. The foods look wonderful as well as delicious. Keep up the good work!
Hi Donna! Thank you for that. I know people can be very critical when it comes to anything but I try to think of it this way, at least they are watching. I try to have a tough skin when I get unfavorable comments because I know that I’m going to get some bad comments. I’m just thankful that the good outweigh the bad and your sweet comment proves that even more. Thank you for watching and I will keep on cooking. God bless and Happy Mother’s Day!
Oh my.....Looks so good! You got me so hungry for all of this....I know what I’m making tomorrow! Thanks so much for sharing and being so clear with your directions. Beautiful family, God bless you all ❤️
Hello! I enjoyed watching your cooking show. The dinner looks so good. I got to try it. I sauté bell peppers and onions in bacon fat and butter then put my cabbage in with them. Also I cut up Polish Sausage in my cabbage. It’s delicious.
Too much grease! No bacon grease! A real heart stopper. Tastes heavenly, but is it worth bad health? Sugar and grease, particularly animal fat, are real killers. There are delicious substitutes if you are willing to give them a chance. MMB
Oh my goodness, it’s a shame that I am not sitting at your table and letting my stomach yell “ Praise the Lord”, that looks simply delicious. Thank you for allowing us to see a great cook in action God bless you for sharing with everyone!
Love the video. This same recipe in an air fryer allows for more of a mustard flavor. Also marinating over night is a game changer; makes a good fried chicken better. I am looking forward to trying the broccoli casserole recipe.
Thank you Constance! I was taught to clean as I go when cooking and that includes wiping down the stove and the countertops for me. I really need to invest in a splatter guard too! God bless.
I was looking at that too my father taught me to do that. Said to always make sure the cooking area is clean. And there’s no big mess to clean up at the end.
The broccoli casserole recipe is the same as my moms green bean casserole recipe! The only difference is my mom mixes crispy fried onions with the crackers on top. God bless you and your family! Thank you for sharing the masterfeast you made!!
I remember when I was a little boy whatever my mother cooked I always appreciated and thanked my beloved mother. Great cooking I do like fried chicken.
Thank you for taking the time to share your kitchen and your family with us. I LOVE fried chicken and at 56 years old I have never made it! I may just try this. If so, I will probably marinate the chicken for a bit in the mustard, hot sauce and spices to see if the flavor comes through a little more. Again, thank you!
your like my mother always cooking up a storm for her 4 italian boys ...the love will always fill your heart when your girls will cook for you and the camera King/// GOD BLESS YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY lots of love from Toronto, Canada
The cabbage and the chicken look excellent. Mustard and hot sauce is such a good combination; I'll have to try it next time I fry some chicken up. I think marinating is a good idea.
I love this video. You're a really good teacher and cook. You put a lot of love in your cooking. I enjoyed seeing your family eating together and discussing the dishes. Thank you!💚
You can use that cabbage heart to make a nice veggie stock. I do it all the time. Ok so I cook alot. I save my veggie scraps in the freezer and when Im ready ... I boil then and add no salt seasons. I freeze it and when im ready to use it, thats when I add some salt to cook my other veggies and even some meats. I even use it for biscuits
My favorite part was watching y’all pray and watching the kids eat! They were so cute and excited they were dancing in their chairs!!! It reminded me of watching my kids…I loved it when they would hum while they ate…that’s the height of happy!
Beautiful cooking chicken,I also found a new trick! After the chicken is done put the frying chicken on the oven rack and put paper towel under neath the rack to drain the grease and the frying chicken will stay crispy....
It all looks delicious!!! I'm gonna try the chicken and broccoli casserole! I love cabbage, but put onion and real bacon bits in with it. Yummy! Your girls are adorable!
This is a great recipe and it is delicious especially when cooked in your momma's pot.😉. I have my mom's cast iron skillets and my great grandmother's cast iron dutch oven. They are my favorites too.
Hi Kimm. I wanted more of her cookware but I was the last to get to her house after she passed away. I didn’t want to seem like I was picking her bones so I waited a while to respect my father. I’ll cherish her pot forever! Thank you for watching and God bless you.
My mom gave me 2 of my great grandmother's cast iron skillets that I use everyday. I don't take for granted that these skillets have made thousands of meals for my family.
david mark Hey David. I called my pot cast iron but it’s cast aluminum in this video. I love my Grandma’s pot better than all the pots and pans in my kitchen put together. When she passed away in 2013 and the family went to her house to pick something to remember her by, cookware was the only thing I wanted. She had given me her punch bowl set and her old fashion ice cream churn years before she got sick. I’ll cherish them forever then pass them to my daughters. Luckily I have three pieces of her and I have three daughters. All three will be blessed from Grandma Sarah!
This was wonderful to watch you make such a comforting meal. Your daughters are adorable. The one on your left making faces when you said the fried chicken had mustard in it was priceless. But she gave it a try. That fried chicken looks so yummy and crispy.
Cabbage greens are bomb! My family used to pick them from the neighbors farm after he harvested his cabbages (with permission of course). Just two paper grocery bags full, enough for a family gathering. They were the best greens I've ever had in my life!
LOVE the way they mukbang at the end!! Beautiful Blessed family good to see people who still sit down and eat with their kids. I really need that cabbage pot in my life!! Now I would have hit that cabbage with some scallion and a lil onion and a touch of that seasoned greese from the chicken for a lil more flavor....make me want cabbage and broccoli casserole now!! smh
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I’ve gotten beat up so much about this video being too long, I’m using too much salt, my water is running to long , I didn’t wash the cabbage, I didn’t wash the chicken long enough, my chopping board was contaminated and on and on. I wonder if the people complaining even watched the video. I have to take the good with the bad and even bad comments means that the video is being watched and that’s all that matters. Thank you for watching and God bless!

You're a great mom and wife to prepare a meal like this with so much love. You are truly appreciated!!!
When your lil girl said she could eat the brocoli casserole all the day, that sealed the deal for me!! You don't hear kids say that very often, for sure!!😉
I would like to see somebody fixing some boudin pinto beans and cornbread
I could definitely eat your food!!! You're not just a great cook, you're a very clean and attentive cook... Remind me of my grandma...👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿✌🏾
Yesss. I agree. I was raised that way. Great Grandma Agnes.
Every time i use your recipe to improve upon my cooking skills the whole house loves me, KFC has nothing on you, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful food recipes. The world would be a mighty sad place without you in it . I like the way you clean as you cook -- way to go!!
(I get laughed at by my friends because I do the same thing. LOL!)
That’s the only way to keep from having a wrecked kitchen when you’re done. At this stage in my life I’m the only cook in the house so I’ve got to do it all by myself every time I cook!
Yes, I was watching that too.
It's the only way to go!
There is nothing like southern home cooking. You have made me hungry. Thank you for sharing.
@@JackiesSouthernSoul Thank you. Happy Mother's Day to you, too.
Your comment is on point.

Amen. You & I share the same style of cooking. Your kitchen is perfect & you are an amazing cook. Thank you.
I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED WATCHING YOU DO THIS AND WILL TRY THAT CHICKEN AND CABBBAGE AND THE BROCCOLI CASSEROLE SOON.
Beautiful family!! Food looks amazing ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 🤗
This meal looked so good to me ,I'd sit at your table any time. Yummy !
I appreciate how organized you are. I can’t wait to try this recipe 🌿
This awesome!!! everything looks so good...
MMB
This meal looks so delicious and good, especially the mustard fried chicken. Great job. TFS ❤️.
havnt tried the recipe yet but it was so lovely to see you and your family round the table to talk about the food you made thankyou
Oh my goodness, it’s a shame that I am not sitting at your table and letting my stomach yell “ Praise the Lord”, that looks simply delicious. Thank you for allowing us to see a great cook in action God bless you for sharing with everyone!
Thank you Barbara. God bless!
Love the video. This same recipe in an air fryer allows for more of a mustard flavor. Also marinating over night is a game changer; makes a good fried chicken better. I am looking forward to trying the broccoli casserole recipe.
I agree about marinating the chicken. The flavor is so much more intense. I’ll have to try the air fryer too. Thank you for watching and God bless.
Sis, the way that you cleaned the stove while cooking let me know that you were raised right!! Bless you and your family, your talent is a blessing!
Thank you Constance! I was taught to clean as I go when cooking and that includes wiping down the stove and the countertops for me. I really need to invest in a splatter guard too! God bless.
@@JackiesSouthernSoul, that's how I do when I'm cooking, I can't have a lot of unnecessary stuff on my stove and counters.
I was looking at that too my father taught me to do that. Said to always make sure the cooking area is clean. And there’s no big mess to clean up at the end.
Agree! It always makes it so much easier to clean as u go. I was taught to do the same👍
Clean as you go.
No doubt.
My nana makes broccoli casserole the same way around Christmas and she adds chicken in it Soo good
A family that dines and prays together stays together. 💝🙏
💐💐💐💐I love to make mustard fried chicken🍗🍗, I got to try the fried cabbage🥬and the broccoli🥦 Florets casserole🧀🧄. The cornbread looks wonderful
The broccoli casserole recipe is the same as my moms green bean casserole recipe! The only difference is my mom mixes crispy fried onions with the crackers on top. God bless you and your family! Thank you for sharing the masterfeast you made!!
Looks so good and your girls are so sweet and pretty
I remember when I was a little boy whatever my mother cooked I always appreciated and thanked my beloved mother. Great cooking I do like fried chicken.
Thank you for taking the time to share your kitchen and your family with us. I LOVE fried chicken and at 56 years old I have never made it! I may just try this. If so, I will probably marinate the chicken for a bit in the mustard, hot sauce and spices to see if the flavor comes through a little more. Again, thank you!
Marinating the chicken does intensify the flavor but it’s best to me after only a couple of hours.
I like when the whole family sitting together to eat dinner together 🇺🇸❤️
your like my mother always cooking up a storm for her 4 italian boys ...the love will always fill your heart when your girls will cook for you and the camera King/// GOD BLESS YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY lots of love from Toronto, Canada
andboy ... she sho is cookin' up a storm, hurricane let's say! Dang, that's some cookin'!
The cabbage and the chicken look excellent.
Mustard and hot sauce is such a good combination; I'll have to try it next time I fry some chicken up. I think marinating is a good idea.
Thank you for making your recipe so easy to follow! Love that you included the family!😊
I'm going to try the broccoli casserole. This is my first time watching your channel. Hope to see more of you.
Me 2
I love this video. You're a really good teacher and cook. You put a lot of love in your cooking. I enjoyed seeing your family eating together and discussing the dishes. Thank you!💚
Very interesting recipe. I would love to try it
I love y'all's family! they're all very precious may God greatly Bless you all!
You are a blessed mother to be an example for your daughters. Keep on being that Precious mother.
Lakeva I do the same with my veggie scraps for broth then compost stuff I can't use.
I love adding bacon a bit of bacon grease when frying it too
This is a great recipe and it is delicious especially when cooked in your momma's pot.😉. I have my mom's cast iron skillets and my great grandmother's cast iron dutch oven. They are my favorites too.
Looking forward to making broccoli casserole, it looks delicious
Looks good, especially the cabbage. Can’t wait to try it one day soon.
What a precious beautiful family. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
Very enjoyable video. I was entertained and progressively getting more hungry throughout. Everything looked so delicious!
Thank you Jerry!
I would give anything to have My Grandma's pot or anything from her...(rip Irene Thibou)
I don't take for granted that these skillets have made thousands of meals for my family.
david mark
Hey David.

Yum yum and yum! Thanks for posting!
Cabbage greens are bomb! My family used to pick them from the neighbors farm after he harvested his cabbages (with permission of course). Just two paper grocery bags full, enough for a family gathering. They were the best greens I've ever had in my life!
I love all greens they are very tasty! When seasoned right they will change your life! Thank you for watching and God bless.
You look like you have a lovely family. You can tell from your girls you’re a great mother👍🏻

You did a very fine job, we don't do everything perfect when we're cooking in our home & not a commercial kitchen. I like that I heard you wash yr hands after the pepper made you sneeze, but, for the public critic's just show & tell everything. I am a new subscriber because I enjoyed your video & it was my first time watching you.
I would suggest lovingly that you preview the oldest girls etiquette.
I look forward to more videos, especially one for the cornbread. 🙏😍💞
@@JackiesSouthernSoul This video was PERFECT! Unnecessary negativity, unnecessary nitpicking, being an overall mean-spirited person just because you can behind a keyboard, comes with being a UA-camr. You got to have tough skin to be on here. You did wonderfully at how you replied to some comments. The one thing that works best for me is I don't respond obvious trolls who looking for a rise out of me. If a comment is nasty, rude and mean I will block the person. Otherwise I'll let the comment sit there without a response and I don't heart them either. I don't want to waste my energy giving a heart to someone being mean to me, when I can be passing out more hearts the people showing me support.
I love your channel and this video is my favorite 🙌🏾🥰🤗

Thank you so much for that suggestion and from now on I simply won’t respond to the negative comments at all or give them a heart. God bless ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@JackiesSouthernSoul 🤗🥰 Hugs from Michigan! And trust me I get it.. maybe you can heart some out of quiet sarcasm...or another suggestion heart the ones that you know is constructive criticism based on their opinion... because everyone do things differently ...because you definitely can tell the text "tone" of someone being nasty and mean versus someone giving you their difference of opinion and cooking styles or recipes.
