    2:25 Note to everybody: On a squat, _ALWAYS_ let the bar roll off your back, behind you. Specifically for this reason. You should also be making sure no one is behind you before attempting a weight you're unsure about. Don't end up literally dying like that one guy last year

      ​@@aliendroneservices6621my guy I started squatting at 220. It took me a few months to hit 3 plates. How many places have 150-200lb dumbbells? How many people at home? You can use straps but you're still turning it in to an arm exercise.

    Makes me so glad I took lifting classes at my gym and learned proper form. I’d rather lift lighter weights with consistently better form and see slower gainz than fuck up my back at 43 just for a heavier ego lift 😅

    Weight lifting should be a mandatory class for teenagers in school. That would be so much more beneficial for kids mental and physical health for their entire lives than most highschool classes.

      In my high school, a bunch of kids wanted to do the multi sport classes or the specific skill classes, I was the weirdo that wanted to lift lmao. But there was a very motivating strength and conditioning coach there that was able to help out a bunch of bruh ppl like me.

      Man, that was my absolute favorite part of the day throughout high school. I often got bummed out because a lot of kids just simply didn't wanna be there, so there wasn't much competition much of the time.. I took it every semester through middle school and high school.

    Ouch. I am a cardio guy. I currently have a knee injury that stops me from long distance running so I joined the gym and started having a go at the weights. I have nothing but respect for the amount that bigger guys lift coz it is fking hard! I have no shame lifting lower weights than others as I would find it more embarrassing to pile the weights on and struggle like these people. Everyone started somewhere people, just lift what you can manage.

    I Injured my back exercising about 33 years ago. After a lot of pain I had surgery about a year later.
    I have taken care of my back and am doing extremely well but I am lucky. I know a lot of people who had second surgeries. A few 3rd. I know people who have been taking pain killers for years.
    A back injury can mess up your life.

    I remember doing a deadlift with too much weight and hearing a pop sound in my back.
    I had ruptured a vertebrae and hit my sciatic nerve. Three weeks of terrible pain for being stupid.
    I switched to boxing and actually learned something useful while getting in the best shape.
    Lifting weights is great if you approach it sensibly.

      You don't have to copy the BS. Never lift for ego. Never push your body to a breaking point. There is a significant difference between working your muscles to failure and pushing until you break.

      Never stop working out! Trust me, the alternative is getting overweight. When I was in high school and college, I spent most of my free time exercising. I was super fit and healthy. After I graduated college and got a full-time job, I stopped exercising. Now, 15 years and 50 pounds heavier, I joined a gym to undo the damage. Exercise to stay fit, but do everything you can to avoid injury. The key is to stop when you feel it in your back. If you have to use your back instead of your muscles, you are lifting too much. I'm a woman though, so I don't feel under any pressure to show off how much I can lift. Just exercise for health, don't do it to show off or to impress chicks (trust me, chicks don't care).

      @@hamsterama What I mean is that you can use lighter weights rather than doing insane heavy lifts, if I get back into it I probably won't lift anything more than 135 pounds, I'll go on high rep low weight regimen.

      @@funasylumstudioYes, that's how I work out! I do high rep, low weight. That's actually the best way to built muscle, so I heard. If I can feel the weight in my back or joints, I stop immediately, and reduce the weight. But, I recommend you go back to working out. Trust me, you do not want to get overweight! It will ruin your life.
