So the thing is you cant actually swim around in the water without the flippers accesory. And you can also make a better sword with just wood at a work bench. Some extra tips are, make sure to equip every piece of accesory you find at the start of the game. Accesories give buffs like double jump, flying, extra damage and defense(Like the shackle in your inventory). You also want to make more houses so npcs can move in the more you progress in the world. You also should go mining a lot (get every piece of ore you find it could come in handy) so you can get better armor and weapons, you also want to look for life crystals to up your health permanantly (heart crystals look like shiny rocks in the shape of a heart and they're found underground laying on top of rock). Other than that i would say watch some playthroughs and learn by watching others. Also make sure to check out the terraria wiki. I will tune in on your next live stream to hopefully help some more.
@@OldNintenDude - terraria is something for sure! though id advice you either watch a couple playthroughs or simply browse the oficial terraria wiki if you feel stuck at a boss or progression
IMO, as a first time player I would strongly recommend you don't play with many, if any mods, especially any that add additional content as it could get confusing as to what is and isn't from the game. Anything atmospheric like the "Atmospheric Torches" and "Better Blending" and the like are fine. Calamity is a huge content mod I would avoid for a first playthrough. On that note, I noticed you started this world with Calamity installed, which as I said is a huge content mod, and removing it might cause some issues with a some missing chunks in the world, as it does its own world generation. You may have already known this by now idk, I only just started watching and only about 45 minutes into this video. Fun watching someone play a game for the first time, even if in the back of my head I might be screaming "you should be doing this or that!" I'm of the mind that you should also probably try and learn things naturally rather than looking things up in a wiki, unless you're really stuck or reaching a point where you're not sure what else to do. The guide usually gives general tips and hints on what to do next if you spam on his "Help" option, and "Crafting" option allows you to see what you're able to make with a material you have. Admittedly I started playing back when it first released, where there wasn't even a quarter as much content as there is now, so I had plenty of time to learn all the new things with each update, so it's much more daunting than it originally was when I started playing. If you feel you need a wiki then there's no harm in doing that, and I won't fault you for it either, after all we all have different ways we like to have fun. I still stand by trying to get through most of the game at least once though, but again, won't fault you for it.
but playing a game blind is so much fun...hahahaha. I appreciate the feedback. I think when I get the hang of it I will do a new world with more direction. I appreciate the feedback. Stay safe and have fun.
@@OldNintenDude Well, this game does not help you and you will not be able to progress without at least a guide on the game. Minor spoilers: The wall of flesh or Plantera will be impossible to find on your own, not to mention the items you will need to craft and equipment

Look up the wiki, it will answer most of your questions, please do not run through the game blind!
