I was planning to switch from mechanical to IT because of almost similar reasons that you mentioned in one of your youtube videos.But I had couple of doubts regarding the IT field.One of my IT connections told me that in IT there are always high chances of layoff irrespective of the size of the companies.I would like to know if that's the case how do you think people tackle this situation.
My other question was whether we need to stay updated with relevant technology lifelong?So does that mean a person who is aged 45 to 55 also have to deal it the same way?
Hi Joby,
Even I am a Mechanical engineer working in IT field. I make 2 to 3 times what my Mechanical friends make. If you are able to stay afloat in IT for about 10 to 15 years with proper switch you can easily become Financial independent before you turn 35 years. Earn salary of a IT engineer but spend like a Mechanical engineer. If you loose job now you will have sufficient savings to go through bad time. Related to layoff, it can happen in Mechanical as well.

Seeing current & future possible scenarios of Mechanical engineering, i must say that one should avoid doing B.tech in Mechanical Engineering whether passionate or not.
And those who are currently pursuing mechanical engineering, they should immediately start practicing Coding or any IT related courses, so that after Degree they will not have to wait for long to get the job.

@@gopro8373 Working in same company for 7 years won't improve chances of being selected in many companies because of high salary expectations with minimum knowledge.
Always one should switch the company within 2 years. Then only you will have many opportunities.
When you have more salary with the same knowledge for 7 years, other companies won't prefer to take.

Hello Respected everyone, i am mechanical engineer 2019 passout but not getting job anywhere only getting offer as 8k-9k per month as thats only from placment agencies who takes half salary of 1st month i talked to many freinds & relatives for a job offer but nothing happens, Yesterday my cousine brother suggest me to switch IT sector he said there is huge scope and boom in IT sector and he said you get handsm salary in 1-2 year

Every company can pay good to their employees.In mechanical engineering,the population is more now.so every company wants to hire at low cost possible.so the salary are offered less. Mechanical companies are less now and software companies are more.some day other fields will become saturated and mechanical will be back

It's good to look after IT sector if you don't get jobs in mechanical field, but won't suggest to change field I am myself a mechanical engineer and love my field of quality inspection. It's unless and until but to be creative I guess go for mechanical it's dynamic.

My suggestion is rather than doing diploma in cs choose a good programming laungauge and be good at it then you can easily get a job within one year

Especially for civil, nowadays civil is blooming in forein countries but in india top reputed colleges have placements of nearly 60-70% only . That's the sad truth

I have a query regarding eligibilty criteria of tcs for campus placement
I have 1 year gap between 10th (2016) and 12th(2019)
Beside this I didn't have any gap in my overall career
So will tcs allow me for campus placement after doing btech from cse?
May need nothing like that brother. They will just ask you whether you have any gap between your education. That's it may be.

So what will be best option to choose
1st
-dtu-mech/automotive (and go to non tech companies or cs/coding based company)

Now work in company (16.5k per month) and learn coding/other skills to go in cs based company

. 1.Unwillingly had to join Marketing as that option was only available in our college but didn't worked more than 2 months

6. Presently in Production and Quality.

You can learn from you tube also. I have purchased the course because they provide placement in good companies. Learn c++ or java. I suggest c++ for you because java is hard for a beginner
