@@R---66---R Yeah If u like more “popish” music… not the intensity of Epica not the sonic beauty of Simone‘s voice, never performs live with orchestra no thrash vocals… much more lifeless on stage with less energy… don’t buy the hype my friend but enjoy nightwish I like them too but sorry in no category or they at Epica’s level
@@jonathanratliff4780 Hi there! Partially true... I lovvvvve Simone and lovvvve Epicahhhh! No doubts here. The songs are also full of deeper meaning, which most of 'modern aged people' seem to lack a bit, here and there...and that is good thing. Tuomas always spreads out deeper messages, wrapped in un-earthly like quality arrangements. Floor's voice is more versatile, though both Dutch girls are extraordinary highest level! The sound as a whole of Nightwish live is warmer and bigger. This grabs me by the throat, every time and always. Simone's voice does the same...unbelievable stuff! But...Tuomas Holopainen.....mannn, what more do we want??? What more do 'earthlings' want???😀😀😀🌹
Reacting to the whole Omega Alive stream would be a great idea. They pre-recorded Omega Alive across five days to incorporate the elaborate set changes then stitched it together to make one live stream. The songs in order are… Day 1 - Abyss of Time, The Skeleton Key, Unchain Utopia Day 2 - Obsessive Devotion, In All Conscience, Victims of Contingency Day 3 - Kingdom of Heaven part 1 & part 3 Day 4 - Rivers, Once Upon a Nightmare Day 5 - Freedom the Wolves Within, Cry for the Moon, Beyond the Matrix and Omega. There are individual videos for all the songs except the last one, Omega. But there is a video of the entire concert on UA-cam so you can get Omega from that.
@@Percy92 yes it was, I heard Simone tell how they did both as a single take in a recent interview. The other interesting fact, she said the cameraman had to have a second guy shadowing him during Once Upon A Nightmare to make sure he didn’t step back into the fire.
Epica evolved over time and added new members as well... They became so popular in Mexico that they headlined a 9-date Mexico tour for the 'Omega' album in 2022. Simone Simons, Mark Jansen (vocals & guitar) and Coen Janssen (keyboards) played on the original studio version, but now they have Isaac Delahaye (lead guitar), Ron Van der Loo (bass) and Arien Van Weesenbeek (drums) replacing the members that played on the live release "We will take you with us" - which is a classic performance record by Epica 🤘🤘
This concert was divided into several parts, you can watch in parts, each with 3-4 songs. Or watch selectively the most beautiful performances from this concert one by one 😁 as for the song “cry for the moon”, I will prefer the new version, because the quality and sound of the 2004 version is outdated, and Simone now sounds much better.
I dont think that theres a particular order you need to follow with omega alive songs, every song has something unique. In song " Skeleton key" they bring on a little chorus. In "The Obsessive Devotion" Simone does something that was done in Black Swan movie. Also they did "Rivers" in acapella By the way, couple days back Myrkur (you heard her in collab with Epica "Sirens of blood and water", the blond one) released a song "Like humans" if you are interested.
Great reaction! I loved your energy in this one. Yes you can definitely hear the change in her voice. Some from improved technique and training but I also think it was changing from training to be a mezzo to training to be a soprano. That changes the overtones your voice creates and the overall feel and warmth of your voice. I would be good with reacting to the whole show but I would be ok if that is not something you are interested in. I am more invested in seeing where you want to go and what grabs your attention. There are a lot of great performances from Omega Alive. Some of my favorites are Unchain Utopia, Abyss of Time, Skeleton Key, Rivers, Once Upon a Nightmare. The last two ballads are back to back on the setlist and a perfect for a double reaction. I know you have already covered Rivers but the Omega Alive version is acapella and incredibly beautiful. The Embrace that Smothers is like a secondary title of the song. Many early Epica songs were thematically connected across albums and those songs have the same secondary title. The Embrace that Smothers is composed of 7 songs. The first 4 Mark wrote when he was part of After Forever (Floor's first band, Mark is one of th founders). They are Mea Culpa (prologue), Leaden Legacy (part 1), Follow in the Cry (part 2), and Yield to Temptation (part 3). All from After Forever's first album Prison of Desire. Cry for the Moon was a big hit and has been performed by both Floor with After Forever and Simone with Epica. Mark left After Forever after the second album due to creative differences with the other founder Sander Gommans. The last 3 parts of The Embrace that Smothers are from the first Epica Album, The Phantom Agony. They are Cry for the Moon (part 4), Facade of Reality (part 5), and Sif al Dein (part 6). Seif al Dein is a great song as well. They did Seif al Dein and Follow in the Cry as Sahara Dust (band's original name) as their own opening act for their 20th Anniversary concert.
thank you! I think I could manage to do an album reaction. Thanks for telling me that there's a difference in the Omega Alive version of Rivers, that means I can react to it again!
Damn, I loved this! You're right about the vocals being better, but the biggest difference to me is the drumming that Arjen brings to it now - fantastic! Those double kicks are simply otherworldly. Greetings from an Oak Lawn native.

Hey Lauren, Coen (the bald keyboard player) was the young keyboad player and orchester director in the first video, and together with Mark and Simone, original members. Arjen (the drummer) gets to shine at the end, and is with Rob (bass) and Isaac (lead guitar) "new" (other 10y now) members of Epica. I love the first video, seeing the house orchester and choir, and seeing young "fragile" Simone glancing now and then to her voice coach Amanda Somerville. Amanda is an American vocal coach, backing/choir vocals, producer. Known for her work with After Forever (Floor & Mark Jansen’’s first band) Epica (Mark Jansen, Simone Simons) Avantasia, Kamelot, and more. But, I love this version too. I think you mentioned "washing my hands" in the first video - but, here going deeper :o) - You would definitely enjoy the whole show. Go for it (pretty please)
In the shows, they usually use this song to do some solos in the end, like guitar or drums. In this case after the drums it continues to the next song Beyond the Matrix, which you have heard the first chord in the very end You should react to that one too!
I'd buy the Omega Alive DVD for myself last year. I also like the song Cry for the Moon very much, i love this song! It's one of my personal top 5 Epica songs. I like Epica very much! And i love Nightwish and Floor! 🤘 Greetings from Vienna/Austria! 🇦🇹
I'd never noticed Simone poking at Coen's keyboard before. LOL! The first video did have more emotional impact, it was young them when the song was still newish and not long after another of the church's child sex abuse scandals. This is them twenty years removed from that, also, they were probably excited to be able to do a show since they weren't allowed to tour during covid.

This band sets the bar for all symphonic metal bands and they continue to do so faithful to their METAL roots after 20 years always amazed
