  • Shontel Lewis-McDonald, sister of Dondreal “Frank” Watkins, who was shot and killed on July 22, 2020, in the 800 block of Woodbury Avenue in the city’s Northside neighborhood, and her two children Demond, 13, and Demya, 14, wore “Long Live Dreal” shirts” on June 4, 2024, as they spoke to MLive about the life of Watkins. Witnesses were present at the time of the shooting, but in the four years since the murder, no arrests have been made. “What is the silent code, like, to be having somebody be running around here killing people for nothing?” Lewis McDonald asked. “We’re losing innocent Black people for nothing and nobody is speaking.”
