Someday, when you and Stacy ( Stacey?) are having a bad day, I hope you come across this comment where I tell you how much I love these videos and they always pick me up when I’m having a down day. I appreciate this peek into life across the pond. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all!🥰
Storm is so happy to do her work and get your praise Sean. When you finish and let Storm jump into your arms she knows you’re proud of her. It’s her ultimate reward.
For the most part, Storm is wonderfully responsive. She has an amazing ability to anticipate the next move correctly. Great training and partnership. Love how she jumps into your arms, as if to shout, "THAT WAS SO FUN, DAD."

After watching a bit more.. I think the sheep respond to the dog's commands!! 😂😂 I love sheep. We malign them and call them 'stupid'... but I've got a feeling they're the opposite!! Especially in Sean's Farm! Cushy life... lovely dogs. 😍
That WAS a tough one Sean. Storm is excellent as usual. She makes me laugh with her JOY of working and her not always wanting to "lie down" :) The speed that she listens and then undertakes your commands is wonderful to behold. The love she has for you surely shows - up in your arms after a job WELL done. Your sheep are looking really well too. You two are the hard working country folk that this world needs. Thanks!!!
Oops! You did ask us to comment about how Storm did. Sometimes she does not listen to you and I get the sense that she is not disobeying you. I just think she knows what is best, because she is that good!
There's truth to what you say. The BC knows how much pressure they can put on the sheep because THEY are the one who is closest and is "reading" every reaction by the sheep. They are also quicker in their ability to truly assess what's actually happening versus ANY human. It is one of the reasons WHY they are SO valuable.
That dog just loves to do her job...she definitely thinks at least one step ahead. Watch the vid where she and echo have to take the sheep up the mountain and then back down the other side. Several times the trail got narrow and she had to get the sheep at the front of the pack moving but could only influence the ones in the back where she was. To watch her literally studying the problem before acting just blew my mind. Working with echo she got them home safe ...and then sprinted to your 4 wheely bike and launched herself onto her spot on the back from almost 10 yards away. She stuck the landing with tail and tongue waving around furiously. She was pumped! What a dog !
Every time I watch your videos I get a whole new appreciation for the amount of hard work and dedication it takes to train and maintain your dogs and yourself for that matter. It’s never ending. Love your channel and content. ❤
Sean, It must be twice as hard to train as you look through the camera and you are keeping an eye on Storm and the sheep. I am always impressed by your skills as a sheepman and by the skills of your dogs. Thanks for an interesting video.
It’s so cool to see you and the dog work together for the safety of the sheep. Safety bc when out in pasture, you and dogs control them, moving them from pasture to pasture. If you don’t work together, the sheep will flail….its just so damn cool! I love it!
It’s always amazing to me that you and Storm “read” the sheep. This video showed me again how you and the dogs are partners in the field for close work. And of course how much the dogs want to work THANK YOU
The sheep are sort of getting trained, too, or at least learning what the signals mean, to anticipate what the dog[s] will do, and trying [usually unsuccessfully] to outwit them. Sheep are smarter than conventional wisdom gives them credit ror, but the dogs are smarter still, and the combo of human and dog is top-notch.
What a workout! Storm is anticipating your commands. After a few more runs, she will understand that you're doing something a bit different. What a good girl! Merry Christmas to you and Stacy and to all those great dogs! Enjoy every moment.
One of the things that becomes apparent is that the use of a whistle is quicker and more efficient than verbal commands. Recognizing that most sheep herders use the whistle... isn't a choice that they make just by chance. They know by experience that the whistle is more efficient in so many ways. With that said, I'm thinking you will have a better herding result if you migrate to the whistle instead of voice commands. I'm so glad you treat Storm so well and reward her with your acknowledgement if her good work. In time, she will do even better because you are meeting her emotional needs. BTW... the music is good. And at the beginning of the video, Storm exhibits the classical BC "loving" where they're ITCHING to work and to please... both at the same time. It's one of the reasons why I love BCs over other breeds because they are unique in this way.
Thank you I do use whistle as well but mostly when working in a bigger area but yes some dogs respond to the whistle better than voice storm being one who likes the whistle better
Would be wild to know what the sheep are actually thinking :) Looks like everyone involved got a good workout. You always seem to have a good choice of music to go with the videos. Thanks Sean.
Another great video. Of course I'm all here for your amazing dogs, but I really gotta say I love these sheep. They seem quite the characters and always make me smile. Storm jumping into your arms - what a lovely moment to watch, what a lovely way to end the training session.

It was a major hit on tv. The dogs and their owners became national celebrities and the series rated its head off. It was so exciting - far more exciting than most people expected. "Bill just has to get all four sheep around the far post and then into the pen in the next 90 seconds to earn a place in the finals..." It showed how the skill of the farmers, and the skill of their dogs, and the way they communicated together made a winning combination, with a little bit of plain luck added in with the sheep that were randomly drawn for their trial. I thought storm was amazing. It is a thing of beauty to watch storm in action . I loved the music that you played with storm carrying out her duties. The Majesty of the music matched storms Majesty. I truly loved seeing the Sheep reacting to the shepherd's voice. The most delightful part of the video with storm jumping into her daddy's arms and giving him kisses . Magnificent
I love watching your videos. I got the impression that Storm was catching onto how to do the cross exercise. She was definitely better the more she did it. I love your partnership with your dogs. It is wonderful seeing dogs do what they are bred for, their joy is infectious!

nice wide outrun, lift and non hurried fetch. Mainly quick response to command (couple of occasions Storm was 'are you sure') and good natural ability to read stock and position accordingly.
We have cattle and I'm just starting training a young dog. But having watched many sheep trials, I'd say you're doing great. You and Storm really have a great working partnership. Keep up the good work and God bless!

This was great to see a training session like this. It really shows how much a dog can do to control the sheep. I think this was a difficult course for any dog. You and Storm did better on the second go through. Love watching the dogs work.
GOOD JOB ! 😊 Takes much concentration. Well done ❤ Best part is Storm had a WONDERFUL time and was really pleased with the job which she clearly demonstrates at the great leap into your arms at the end. Excellent handling 🎉😂❤
I love watching your videos. thank you for posting. That's a LOT of work for all parties involved. Storm followed your commands way faster than I figured them out LOL Well done!!!
Storm and you looked professional. She listens and does her commands great. I think she can eventually go to trials, if you'd want to. I know I would. She's willing and very able. To please you is her calling. She is sharp on those commands, you say it, she does it. Best I 've seen for a long time. She doesn't try to out think you, she does what you tell her to do. All of them try to do it, sometimes they see or feel something we don't. But
Mesmerising! One man, his gorgeous dog and some beautiful lively sheep 🖤 It is amazing to see you both work, and those sheep definitely know that Storm means business.
Kristine S< When you said " I just need that one sheep to turn" then he did that was precious, storm so want's to please besides loving his job, he's a keeper, Happy Holidays to all!!!
Storm is so intensely focused! I think she did very well....toward the end it looked like her drive to herd got a bit out of hand but overall she did great. She's amazing Sean....you and your bride have a blessed and beautiful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for all the enjoyment you have given me throughout the year.....Merry Christmas.
I disagree about Storm being "out of hand". If you look closely, she is in COMPLETE control and works many nuances towards the end. It is only when the sheep bolt and split in half... on their own volition... that Storm springs into action to reherd them all again. She knows by the way they are bolting that it requires quick and decisive action. Her DRIVE was to reassemble the herd, but Sean called her off, because he decided to end the exercise. Storm would have gotten the herd back together by herself if Sean had not intervened.... being his own prerogative. It is for these reasons that she is such a good WORKER !!!
That was incredible! Storm was so focussed on your commands and trying to anticipate where the sheep would go. You can clearly see how much she loves her job! Great job to the both of you and I hope your family has a Merry Christmas 🎄
It brings me so much pleasure watching you and your Border Collie sheepdogs work! It "blows me away" how fast they are. .and what incredible athletes...I had a mix breed Shetland sheep dog as a kid , named Bambi. she was my first dog . I can remember what JOY she brought into my life!
Wow!!! What a lot of work!!: Storm listening for your commands, and assessing what the sheep are doing; all while you are assessing the sheep too, and guiding Storm through the trials spaces. Well done!!
So good to see, you always 6:416:436:46 take responsibility for mistakes made. You never blame the dogs. Running the Scottish fields much better than a gym membership

So herding instinct is different from guarding instinct but predators are not really a big problem other that foxes
At least in the US, a fox would be destroyed by a sheep. They are all bluff.

Storm is such a clever girl.
Good work! Storm is so smart and responsive to your commands!
What an amazing dog. Love the team work.
I give credit to those sheep too! They also seem to enjoy the training... Great video! Can watch this for hours...
The capability of these dogs is just amazing!
Thank you same to you have a good holiday season
Learning something new is often difficult. You and Storm are really working on your partnership. Thumbs up to you both!👍❣️
That was incredible! Storm was so focussed on your commands and trying to anticipate where the sheep would go. You can clearly see how much she loves her job! Great job to the both of you and I hope your family has a Merry Christmas 🎄
Its so cool seeing them at work or training. Their focus & eagerness is unmatched.
Well done!!
So good to see, you always 6:41 6:43 6:46 take responsibility for mistakes made. You never blame the dogs. Running the Scottish fields much better than a gym membership
i'm starting to wonder what goes through the sheep's minds when they're being herded...i hope they don't find it too stressful...
