The Haworth main street part of the drama including the Black Bull and Chemist and down the hill is filmed in the real location I saw some of the filming (obviously it had a bit of set dressing) but the Parsonage & School Rooms & Graveyard are filmed on the set on Pennistone Hill, I think part of the reason will be that the real location has more trees and plant growth than in the times of the Bronte's so doesn't look correct for the time, I guess it was easier to build a set, also they have added an extension onto the side of the real Parsonage.
1 - The Bronte Parsonage is much larger now than it was when the sisters were living there. 2 - There are massive, mature trees surrounding the house now, plus a very, very pretty garden that wasn't there at that time. 3 - As old photos show, the back door of the parsonage opened directly onto the moors. The parsonage now has modern housing between the back and the moors. (As well as the shop and museum entrance). In order to show the true squalor of their lives, a reconstruction was necessary.
Really interesting , Thankyou .
I’ve been and it has to be the most grim cemetery I’ve ever seen.
Yes not looked after
I was there today. The graveyard looked really overgrown and very neglected. Strangely there were no crows today just silence.
very cool.ty.
I like the tranquility of the original location (apart from the crows) compared to the aircraft flying over the film location!
Why didn't they film it at the real location?

Also the Church itself looked different in the Bronte's time.
@@BeatrixOnyx the church that is there now is not the same one.
Like most of the BBC policies, it’s all about controlling the narrative
The real location looked too pretty and not bleak.
