  • We always love working at Stoney Ridge Farm! We had the chance to install a premium gate operator for Stoney Ridge Farm that's both reliable and safe. Anything you do in collaboration with Forever Fence & Rail (Ken Throckmorton) and Sloop Fence (Ryan Sloop) is going to be awesome, and this gate operator is no exception!

    Great video.
Try the ShutIt BadAss hinges. You’ll love them.
The All-o-Matic operators are fantastic! They also make one model that directly replaces model 6100 DoorKing

What model all-o-Matic openers did you use?

Why would anyone require flex conduit? I would think the pvc would go right into the bottom of the box. Of course we don't have seasons here so nothing can freeze. The electrical part of my gate system has a 100watt solar panel and a 1 inch conduit connecting it to the control box. The gate operator you have there has a beast of a gearbox, it looks like the old Royce system. Is the siren sensing device an add one? My gate is so strong it would take equipment to open it.

That's code. It allows for settling or shifting of the ground near as I can figure.

I won’t even ask you what that system cost I know you were making light of the ghost controller gate openers but come on ,to me that’s the way to go and of course all the variables that you mention about it is Menuet. bottom line just have to be responsible property owner. no doubt what you’re putting up it’s a superior system wish the best for you.

Hey there's no shame in making an educated decision and choosing what works for you. 👍🏻 Seriously, we don't smirk at that at all. We just want folks to know what they're getting into.
We tend to look at things from a contracting perspective since we're... well contractors. 😁 If we came and installed a budget-box-store system for somebody it would be like hiring someone to put an addition on your house and then they come and build it out of 2x2's, 1/8" drywall, and Christmas tree extension cords. It might look the same but likely as not there's going to be problems for both the homeowner and the installer down the road.

You get what you pay for.....It would not matter to me what that system cost....if it works effectively.

One of the first things I see wrong is the CRAPPY HINGES ON THAT GATE. Secondly that operator looks like it wasn't installed correctly. Thats why its sloppy. If it was installed correctly and the gate had good hinges you would be alright. But professional help is not a bad idea

Yup... until it doesn't or shuts on your vehicle or a guests causing $$$$ damage. That's where the cheap operator stops being cheap.

There is no code for low voltage wires. How ever it is a good idea to go deep across a driveway with conduit schedule 80 is recommended, also you can't pull wire using 4- 90s 3 is max. I recommend you get a NEC code book and read it. Also local codes apply. I have been an electrician for 40 years you sure throw that word code around allot SMH .

CODE? What "CODE"? Many farmers like myself couldn't give a rats ass about government "CODE".
Well let's see, you took a $380 Gate opener and a $200 gate out and replaced it with at least a $1,500 to $2,000 gate and a $3,500 gate opener and then sit there and brag about how much better it works, BUT does it really work 4 ,500 dollars better than the original system? The answer is a resounding NO. I'd rather have the first system and I'll use the extra $4,500 for a new zero turn mower. Thanks though

I am a farmer and it matters to me if things are done to a code "standard". Could you imagine a world where no one had to follow any codes, rules. My guess is there would be a lot of folks dying due to electrocution or mechanical systems failure. Heck, why should the boys who build that highway bridge over the river bother to follow the engineering codes. My guess is you probably suffered a bad fall on your head as a baby, either that or missed out on being breast fed by your mother.
