- Playing an Ibanez Apex 1 Custom Munky Signature intro a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Dual Rectifier Tube Amp Head through an IR I made that clones the guitar cab in the recording.
Pedals Used are the same that Korn use: Dunlop Univibe and Boss RV5
Awesome, dude. Like you, I have always been obsessed with KoRn's guitar sound. Literally since I started and that was when I was 12 o 13. Now I'm 30 and I still can't believe no one is talking about the guitars sound design. It's one of their signatures and to date you can't really see anyone on youtube trying and getting close. You did get the exact tone of the guitars in Issues. That's amazing. Congratulations for that and please upload more videos of you playing without any kind of background song. To me, the best part was you playing some of the riffs on your own at the end of the video.
Thanks alot for the words my friend! Yes, I'm also 30 and been obsessing about their sound design and tones since 98 ! hahaaaa Yeaah you read my mind I am also planning to release a quick video about some insights about the Issues guitar tone and the gear used in the studio for it that some people might not know about and I was planning to play Issues riffs with no backing track to best showcase the nuances. That will come soon when I'll find the time to do it. I also did recreate the follow the leader distorted tone on my got the life cover on my channel and got pretty close with other songs as well too. Thanks so much for checking my stuff out! Glad to see other people are interested in this insanity also hahaha
@@kevinstarofficial Wow man, thanks for the reply. And of course I'm interested. I have always been but for some reason I've never been able to share, like you say, that obsession with anyone lol.
the K7 again you broke my heart with this killer axe! Keep going there great job!
Dude, I been looking your videos all this day (the Korn covers) and you sound so accurate, I really love your tone! I would like if you can cover need to!! your korn 1994 covers are really cool!!! also Its On! and Make me Bad will be really cool!!! you got a new subscriber
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend! Glad to see that there's people out there appreciating my insane tone obsessions hahahaa. I was actually thinking of doing Make Me Bad in the future. When I'll have the time, i will for sure make it happen. Even more motivated when there's positive feedback out there!
Hey buddy, I just uploaded a Make Me Bad video just as you asked. Take a look on my channel when you have the time. Cheers!
Dude. You're a Master. Total respecto from México.
thanks alot for watching my friend! cheers!
Amazing! Is that possible for you to share the amp setup? Like the level of gain, bass, presence and etc in the dual rectifier?
Any chance you could do a Korn tone vid but using amp sims?
You should do this on amplitube 5, and get the closest settings. So those who can’t afford the real stuff can still enjoy it
I still don’t understand the how to part.. maybe you should do a how to video :)
Also if you know anywhere to find this guitar you're using above...I believe its the Apex 1, please let me know. I would love to buy one.
Haha ,i watched this already a few times but did not notice that you jammed trash and counting at the end. I hope you bring out full song covers on these in the future ;)
yeah i hope ill find the time to do them.
@@kevinstarofficial cool, i cant wait :)
you Nirvana shirt! :) my 2 favorite bands - Korn and Nirvana
my favorites as well brother! cheers!
Do you use delay and vibrato for the intro ? Nice sound!
thanks for watching! yes, both delay and vibrato in there!
How do did you clone the cab ir?
How do I get these tones?
Hey my man! I listed all my gear for it in the description. That will get you half way though. You could use any guitar an amp really. The guitar cab impulse response is the tricky part. I spent tons of time to do an IR that clones the original recording with Izotope Ozone. That's trial and error and super dependent on the settings of your whole signal chain.
Will a regular Mesa 4x12 and a revision g rectifier with all the same pedals and settings basically nail this tone or is there still something more to the cab sound than that. I've noticed that the guitars on Issues definitely sound darker than the other albums.
the issues tone is a standard Marshall 1960 cab with celestion t75. they played through a modded jcm800 head with more gain. this will get you the closest to this tone. this is from what i read in various interviews and it makes sense. but i also think they used the rev g rectifier in there blended because the tone has also alot of low end that is typical to the frequency of the rectifier. issues tone is closer to the morbid angel sound which is somehow more represented in the mid frequency area that also is a pure marshall signal flow. if you play issues stuff with a rectifier and a recti cab, it will sound like korn sounds when they play those songs live. still good but different tone from the album nevertheless
@@kevinstarofficial Did they really use t75’s? If you’re using T75’s here it doesn’t sound anything like they usually sound. So I guess I need a 1960 cab and a Mesa cab. I believe on tour from 98-99 and maybe after they used the straight 1960B cabs with the vintage Celestions that are like the Marshall spec V30’s. Maybe those are T75 loaded cabs but I don’t think so.
@@OmgItsSpruce Those are the standard cabs used in most studios and are featured in the majority of big label recordings. I know for a fact that only those were used on Untouchables from a Beinhorn post on a forum. I'm not 100% sure that t75 are used on Issues but from what I have played, that's the t75 sound. V30 dont deliver the typical 80s Marshall sound which is what Issues sounds like but on steroids. (similar to Morbid Angel Covenant / Domination era tone that were also recorded with jcm900 cabs with t75 in them). I cant get any v30 cab or IR to sound even remotely similar to the issues tone. The t75 cab may not sound live like the album since miking type and techniques shape the sound radically. In a room every cabinet sounds wildly inconsistent. I may not be 100% right but i can always get in the ballpark of the issues tone with a marshall t75 IR.
How did you find/get all these limited Korn signature guitars?
Hi! I hunted them down on various places on the net for a very long time. I have no idea about an Apex1. I also sold mine some time ago. But I currently have a rare grey Ibanez K7 that i can sell if you are from Europe. Cheers!
@@kevinstarofficial unfortunately I'm not from Europe, I live in the USA. Thank you for replying back so quick. If you ever happen to come across an apex1, please let me know.
@@MrWillyWonka sure man! no problem! keep looking on reverb dot com in the US though, maybe some will appear from time to time
@@kevinstarofficial Hey did you end up selling it? xD
