Jarren Duran OF Boston Red Sox. so far in 2024....bWAR 4.0, OPS .880, top 3 in defensive runs saved. 20 SB. Houck is amazing but Duran is the MVP of the Sox for the first 3 months of '24.
I didn’t go with him as my breakout because he kind of already did last year. Most people remember his bad defense last season and wrote him off, but he had good numbers.
@@rhyde Got it. And when you look at Duran's raw batting stats for 2023, and those same stats for 2024... they are amazingly identical. (his OPS this year os .830 NOT .880 -typo- But he is far more impactful a -player this year---double the bWAR.
@@rhyde His poor D was in 2022, not last yr. He was injured last yr.
I agree completely.
@@pasha21k Didn't explain myself well. Meant to say that was a stigma attached to him last year, and yes, the injuries too. Nonetheless, he still posted very good numbers. I think Houck's season is more of a breakout considering Duran posted a similar slash line last year.
There are complaints in the comments about so-and-so not being included, but what I like about this list is where each of the teams would be without the player chosen for the list. For example, the Cards without Masyn Winn, who locks down the whole infield. Cleveland is no power station, so guys like Fry are invaluable.
Ezequiel Duran was also in that Gallo robbery
Gonna respectfully disagree with the Alec Bohm pick. I think his breakout season was last year as he was the Phillies leader in RBI.
I think the Phillies breakout player this year is clearly Christopher Sanchez. He's their #4 starter and his ERA is under 3.
Bohm only has 4 less doubles this year than he did all of last year and is one of the very best 3rd basemen in the league rn. From a non AS to an AS starter.
@@ElephantInTheMfRoom It's a progression from 2023. He hit .274 with 97 RBI last year.
Alec Burleson on the Cardinals might have also been a worthy pick. Last year in 315 ABs, he posted a slash line of .244/.300/.390 with 8 HRs and 36 RBIs.
Now, this year in 239 ABs, he is slashing .285/.319/.469 and already has 12 home runs and 32 RBIs. Most of the production coming AFTER march/april where he wasn’t very good. But what do you think?
Thought Jackson Merrill may have been mentioned as well. Good pick with Waldron though, can't really argue that one.
Cards have the best record in the NL since May 12th ..currently playoff hopeful
Horwitz just had a 2 HR game 😂
Jordan Westberg = All-Star!
Don’t forget Jake Irvin…kids being amazing
Robbie loves your pods, but wadda about Jarren Duran?
Thanks Jill! He put up good numbers last year, so I decided to leave him off.
“And here are my ‘breakout’ candidates after almost a half year of baseball”
I will never understand why people use their energy to spew negativity. Go to another channel man 😂
"I refuse to watch baseball until the end of September because none of the games count"
I haven’t watched the video yet but please tell me he said heliot Ramos or Patrick Bailey 😂
👀
Weathrs doesn't even arb until 2026

I got that Andy Pages homerun you showed at Coors Field
Oh snap!
As much as i want to agree on David Fry. You're completely forgetting both Cade Smith and how effective hes been primarily our set up guy to Clase. And Ben Lively, who if anything has wildly overperformed his own expectations at this point. Hes more or less the ace of a beat up rotation. Whose found it extremely difficult to be consistent. Let alone have enough control to go deep into starts
Fair!
The David Fry breakout is bigger than both Cade Smith and Ben Lively
Skenes ane Jones both deserved a spot, you did the right thing lol

Luis Gil he has broken out this year, probably rookie of the year
Saved the best for last 😎
Sorry but after the sticky stuff. I don’t trust blanco
Blanco is amazing
Almost every single pitcher has or DOES use sticky stuff on an almost daily/every start basis. It's pretty common knowledge.
We getting a rankings live stream tonight? Ready to see where the red birds land, keep up the good work!
Kind of surprised to not see Jurickson Profar mentioned for the padres.
Best guess would be that Profar has put up decent numbers in the past like 2018 whee he hit 20 homers with a .254 avg and near .800 ops.
Obviously that’s a far cry from what he’s doing so far this year, but it is a bit strange to be calling him a breakout when he’s already had some solid success in the league despite his turbulent career
@@brendan9868 Yeah that’s a fair assessment.
love ya vids dude, cant wait for power rankings tonight
For the Phillies I thought you’d choose Ranger Suarez but you didn’t even mention him 😅
He's already shown so much up to this point both in the regular season and postseason.
He did already have that season he split between closer and starter where he had an era of like 1.1
not really sure it’s considered a breakout per say, but oh my god steven kwan. contact, defense, weirdly great pull power here and there. if he wasn’t injured for a full month earlier on this season, he’s a more complete Luis Arràez.
for stats people, .390 AVG, .448 OBP, 1.023 OPS. end of story
He deserves the all star spot tbh
No disrespect to Luis but Kwan is better than him across the board.
