Yes it does depends on what state you are in after completing Cosmetology program you can cross over to barber school and finish the remaining required hours needed take exams and you will have dual License for both Cosmetology and Barber

You can use your GI Bill to go to barber school. While you are in school you can get an extra check for living expenses while you are in school. Get paid to go to school. I am a Navy veteran. I used the GI Bill to get my bachelor's degree . I don't use it. I was a cosmetologist before going in the Navy. I'm working on getting my license back. After that I might do a crossover and get a barber license and have both licenses.

Armando Gonzalez it’s good to have your license but you won’t learn how to cut until you are in the shop. Barber school can be a lot of games playing with your money and your time. If you go make sure they don’t deter you from your goal.
tennessee has none...... cool. started barber college 4 years ago and about 4 months in they closed down... so tried looking for great schools.... nothing but cosmetology school. and this state dosent offer apprenticeships.... someone help if your in tennessee and can help me out.!!!!

I plan on taking the exam this coming spring. (It's Dec 2021 now) I want to crossover and do barber thing too. The biggest difference between barbers and cosmetologist is cosmetologist cannot use a straight razor or shave. Barbers don't apply makeup. Just about everything else is the same. I saw that your post was last year. I hope that you got into barber school by now... if that is what you still want. I live near Nashville so there are a few schools near me.
They have apprenticeship now in Tennessee. 750 hrs in the school and 750 hrs in a shop. Shop must be approved and participating in apprenticeship program and the barber in the shop that’s teaching you must be licensed for ten years.
Dude 45 days....? Nah that's not right. Not all states have apprenticeships as an option. Going to school teaching you about hygiene, cleaning, how to properly sanitize and disinfect, how to handle blood/cuts, diffrent skin/hair types. Yah you may be able to get a "licence" in 45 days (and that just sounds wrong) but it takes years to become a master.
This is so much bulshit in the states about the license in Europe If you have a diploma that you paid money for it and you did the training properly your diploma and license will be recognised anywhere in Europe I have only seen this stupid system in the U.S 🇺🇸 Is like studying all your life to be doctor or what ever else spend all that time to do this training and be good at what you like and have this idiots telling you ohh yeah sorry we don’t accept that so do another one here and pay more money seriously ridiculous I would recommend to rent the license from another barber and open a shop is still hope and many ways to make your dream come true A paper does not make you a good barber But your passion and your skills And remember always stay humble God bless 🙏🏼
