The 15 Pro Max is the first iPhone since the 8 Plus that I have not been using a case. I love to hold and look at it. A great looking and powerful tool. I am still careful of where I place it on.

Thanks for stress testing. I would add that a case-less iPhone means that you are that case, should leave the device in a pocket. Not placing it around on ‘strange’ surfaces. It’s a lifestyle with degrees of implication for some.

Been using phones caseless since my first phone >15 years ago, and this video pretty much sums up all of it especially at the beginning of the video, which pretty much repeats everytime you get a new phone. After a few drops or scratches, you end up being ok with treating the phone as a tool.

I've pretty much always used the Apple leather case on my iPhones. Since they stopped making them with the 15, I switched back and forth between the Apple silicone case and an ESR clear case. I never really got comfortable with either one, and the silicone case is a dust magnet. So for the past few weeks I've been going careless on my 15 Pro and using my MagSafe wallet. it's been great, and the wallet give just enough of a barrier when placing it on a table. Plus, I have Apple Care, so that helped with the decision.

iPhone 13 Pro user here. After 2.5 years no scratches either on display or back, except few tiny oleophobic ones like seen on yours. Until today when i finally managed to drop it from my hard on hard surface, a long thin scratch going from top to bottom:) But being caseless can be done. Just like Zollotech doesn't have a case for his everyday iPhone, saying heat retention and other things long-term affect it.
Key: I always wear the phone in the pocket where i have nothing else solid, i always wear my keys and other smaller objects in left pocket, and my Iphone in the right pocket. People wear their phones together with other crap, this is the most common scratch creating environment after a while.

Screen protector was pre-applied but it took it off a couple of days into owning it. Phones feel SO much better with a case. I have no cracks in the screen. I have 3 small scratches you don’t see unless you’re looking for them. I have a some tiny cosmetic damaged on the metal around the phone, but they do not degrade the experience.

The iPhone XR’s two official cases are awful. The clear case completely, permanently tarnished the back glass (which I eventually convinced an Apple Store to cover under AppleCare), and the Battery Case is an ultra-thick silicone case that is a dust magnet and always pulls the lining out my pocket. The Otterbox Defender also suffered from the same issue as Apple’s Battery Case. The only case that felt good, slid out of my pocket properly, and protected my phone against a rough retail job was the Otterbox Symmerty.
Ever since leaving the rough job in mid 2023, I’ve rocked my XR bare, and have gotten lots of compliments on the vivid yellow of the device, and many iPhone 15 owners use cases that make their 15 feel far bulkier than my now-5-year-old phone

Hi! I have used the iphone 15 pro and iphone 14 pro max without a case for a few months, I bought them both new a few months ago. I only use screen protector glass. I used to put them in the case right away, now not, the 14 pro max with its stainless steel frame sits better and safer in the hand, it is safe to hold in the hand and in the pocket, the iphone 15 pro has a silkier, smoother frame and is not as secure in the hand, but the pro is smaller , than the max, and because of that, it's easier to hold the smaller one more securely in the hand and also in the pockets, and I don't want to put them in the case anymore, I have different ones, and they all feel sticky, greasier under the fingers, than pure metal and glass. It remains to be seen what will happen next, maybe for a longer hike or a similar longer walk, I might change the cases for them, I haven't put them on yet, because using natural metals and glass feels much better and cleaner than a plain case. Any kind of scratches and dents on the frames, I wouldn't mind, I think maybe they decorate the phone instead, but I don't like scratches on the glass, that's why I use screen protectors. Thank you!

I went caseless on my Xiaomi 12 after I decided I don't care if I break it, because the USB-C port on that phone was worn out after less than 1 year. It only charges on 1 specific cable I have thats super short but has a connector thats probably out of spec big so it works for the loose connector. The phone feels amazing to actually use without a case, the frosted back is actually easy to hold on to and using gestures is easier too. I'm convinced most random $12 cades you could buy off of amazon probably only protects your phone in like 5/100 drops, the other 95 crack the screen regardless. Its either a real "dreadnought" case thats thick & ugly but actually will save your phone or nothing for me.

I never got the logic behind all of these UA-camrs drooling over colors of the stupid phone. I’ve still got my 3GS from 2007 not a scratch on it and I can make it any color I want because I’ve always had it in a case. People spend over $1000 💵 for a freaking phone 📱 and use it without a screen protector and case. Would you buy a car with no front and rear bumpers⁉️🚘

It left a small dent on the titanium frame like the one you showed on the vid but all the other places are ok. But still I didn’t like the dent as it reminds me how it might not hold another drop. And now the first thing I did after buying 16 pro max was to get a MagSafe case

    1. I use iPhone until it works well (even the battery could be replaced at a service) or until I really need some new features. That is, I don't plan to sell it every next year and because of that I don't need to pray on it to look perfect.

I have never been happy with any of the cases except maybe the beats case and Apple clear case. However, both show fingerprints and I can’t stand the cases that are rubber. Also, when I dropped my 15 pro max with a case, I still got a scratch and small indent on the corner. The thing I like about going caseless is the matte back glass stays clear and doesn’t show fingerprints. I have the Apple upgrade program that comes with AppleCare +. I do have a screen protector only because within hours of getting my 16 pro max, I took it to the fair and the screen had 2 scratches. Currently using the 16 pro max caseless since Sept and so far no scratches on back or frame.

The only "damage" that is inflicted (as long as u dont drop it) is the oleophobic coating. Once gone it makes it easier to get fingerprints, dust etc settle on the screen unless you wipe it with a microfiber. Typically unless u drop ur phone or u work in an industry where the phone is prone to some form of physical abuse, they usually remain just fine.

However I might put it (fully) into its case when I’m taking it into the Kitchen or Bathroom and when I go Outdoors with it.

    Two words…Systematic Desensitization 😂😂😂
I did a similar experiment with my 14 Pro and 14PM. I definitely had to change the way I handled the phone. It really messed with my muscle memory. I have very dry hands but after a month I got used to it and didn’t care as much but you lose out on so many comfortable ways to grip the phone. Especially nowadays where I do everything with it.
It is a slippery son-of-a-gun. I have kids and so every now and then it would slip out of my home shorts cleaning up their toys.
One day I was rushing and was trying to quickly get it from the kitchen island and it flew out of my hand and luckily landed on the other side where it was hard wood floor instead of the kitchen tiles. I slapped it back in my Nomad leather case and it never came out since then. 😩

Somehow the iPhone doesn’t feel as wide or flat with the case on and it doesn’t catch on pockets etc. I also slingshot my iPhone (by accident) at work and sent it at least 4 metres away and three metres drop and it didn’t get a mark with the case on (case was scuffed but not overly). • @beegxxc9832
      @beegxxc9832 6 місяців тому

It’s not really about the glass being fragile. The reason why it broke so easily is because jerry applied a lot of force in two points of contact at the middle of the back. Titanum frame is very stiff, it does not allow the glass to „work” the stress as old aluminium frames did - frame doesn’t bend, the glass can’t flex as it’s held stiff all around… then it starts to crack.
Good news is you’ll never get that much force pushing the glass in when you drop the phone. Actually most cracks appear as the frame is bent in so glass starts cracking from the corner of your device. In this case more ridgid frame is better.
