I would stay away from the Gigabyte Gaming OC for a few reasons as I did owned one, but was sent back due to being faulty. I previously had a MSI 4080 Ventus OC, that I gave to my son to upgrade his 3080. The Gig was a lot bigger compared to the MSI 4080, and EVGA 3080 FTW, but was very light in weight, and ran hotter compared to both of them. As, stated the Gig was returned due to constant crashing no matter what I tried. After returning the card, I picked up a ASUS 4080 Super Pro Art. This card has been in my system for a bout 2 months with no issues. It is as small if not smaller then the 3080 FTW, and runs cooler. I do not usually like Asus products, but this card has worked great.
I can't justify spending almost $3k CAD on a 4090 so this only makes sense ESPECIALLY considering I'd only get maybe 20 more FPS in 4K. Now I want to make sure I am getting the best value 4080 Super on the market. Great video.

Buy 4080 which, all other things being equal, has the best element base. In the case of the 4080, these are cards from vendors: "Founders Edition" and "Asus Strix", low-quality thermal pads and dry thermal paste on the GPU of which can be easily replaced with high-quality ones. In the case of the 4090, these are already 3 vendors with the highest quality components: "Founders Edition", "Asus Strix", "MSI Suprim". Other vendors of RTX 4080-4090 have a "mid-low" quality components, even if one of them has some better numbers of GPU , memory and hot spot temperatures.
I got a MSI Expert Edition 4080 Super and it is awesome! I have a stable 2925-2910mhz at 45-55c with +725 on mem undervolted to 995mv. It blows away my dell oem MSI rtx3080 I got back in 2020. I am very pleased with it.
Get the founders edition if you can. You get the card at MSRP, it looks great and is built great, and it tends to have the highest resale value years later
Now this is what I want. Let's face it, the general class of gpu one will get is pretty easy to figure out with the budget limits but which model... that's a tougher one.
Thank you so much for your reviews! They are great! I've watched so many of your reviews and found it most helpful and the graphs most succinct in determining what card to buy. I ended up with an inno3d rtx4080super with an EOFY discount, which made it $250AUD cheaper than its RRP so I snagged that ASAP. It is a massive, massive upgrade over my rtx 2060 lol
Where I live prices don't make any sense. Cards like the Gaming OC cost 400-500 dollars more than what a PNY or Palit card costs, even if it is supposed to be just $50 above MSRP. GPU prices are to volatile and demand is way too high, if you're buying a 4080 S you most likely will have to buy the one that is available or the cheaper one. Just as an example, here a MSI Expert costs $1250 but the Suprim X is being sold by $1500, and the difference in performance really does not justify an extra $250, specially when with that difference you could go for a i9 instead of an i7, or simply buying more storage or better memory.
it's good to have choice though and there's more of a difference than just performance. there are all the different specs and how they made the card work and different quality and rating parts they have. also, the look and the rgb etc. etc. having a choice is great and it always has been great, there have been many very expensive cards long before now.
4080 SUPER RTX OC White Zotac - Overclocks +150/+1200 and doesn't go above 65C at 50% fan speed in intensive games! It's awesome and with 5 year UK RMA warranty
i have the black zotac and im suprised with how nice it can get undervolted and still overclocked while being almost silent and cool af. I didnt really like the design at first, but damn.
Not sure I care all that much about noise. If my card gets louder (85% fan speed and above, GB Gaming OC cooler), my case-/AIO-fans are usually also blaring away at high speed. Plus it all depends on so many factors like what type of case you run, where it sits on/under your desk, what kind of headset you're using, etc. For instance: The Corsair HS I've used until recently had much less noise insulation than the Kraken I'm using now - what used to be clearly audible fan speeds now come across as near inaudible levels of noise. What I like to do is use Afterburner's custom fan-curve for all this stuff - not only to try and optimize noise but also to switch off the zero-fan-speed mode thing which I'm not a huge ... wait for it ... fan of.
I got the Zotac Airo...so far, I'm happy with it. I may be partial, but I think its the best looking. I won the lottery with it as well as I have been able to get some great overclocks out of it
I have the Zotac Trinity 4080 Super on back-order. I know it's vain but primarily because it's white lol. Have you seen any reviews on the Zotac 4080 super cards?
@@moritzckeller Techpowerup has a review for it. They liked it, just cited slightly higher noise levels. I have one and honestly don't much notice the noise, and I think half the time when I do it's simply because I'm listening for it. Not surprisingly, playing a GPU heavy game with the sound turned down low is when you're most likely to hear it. If you're like me and usually always have something else going in the room, like the TV or UA-cam, whatever, you'll forget about it for the most part. It does have a silent mode, but I haven't yet bothered with it.
Great video! This helped me make my choice. I'll be getting the Gigabyte model simply because of the recessed connector. I don't like RGB, but I assume I can just turn it off.
Got a MSI RTX 4080 Super OC Ventus x3. Before that I had a ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 White Edition 10gb. I can say that the MSI was lighter, the height was just slightly lower and just slightly longer. My motherboard didn't need any support stand for the RTX 3080, so no need for it with MSI RTX 4080 Super OC Ventus x3 either but I putted the no good support bracket on anyway. Just for looks. No RGB either, but it doesn't matter when the entire computer got RGB, it looks pretty awsome anyway. It is very cool as well. Hot Spot doesn't exceed 77 degrees celcius, it is spot on 76.4. Can run 4K gaming quite easy. BF 2042 on Ultra 4K never goes under 125, is around 125-165 on the fps and I got a Samsung G7 32 inch 4K monitor 144mhz. It is the more cheap then the rest of the cards and money well spent I will say. Another story with my RTX 3080 that started to throttle with a hot spot around 120 degrees celcius. Need to change the cooling paddings on it at new cooling paste and then it will be cooler then it was from the box.
nice coverage, can we expect similar roundup for 4070Ti models? overall I think the most decisive factor is PCIe slot width spec, because apparently even thinner cards are not thermally throttled or overly noisy here, while wasting covered PCIe slots can be a problem for enthusiast builds
I'm literally watching this right now on the Asus Tuf Gaming OC card. I love it. It's a great upgrade from my RTX 3070. But yes - it's HUUUUGE! Get a 90 degree 16 pin cable for it though or you're going to be angry while trying to get your case covers on! I run it with the LEDs in Smart mode so the CPU and GPU temps are color synced and so far aside from initial boot nothing I throw at it can get it out of the green and most of that is without the fans even unparking which it doesn't do until over 54C. It normal runs between 34C and 52C no matter what. I can't get into noise because it's never pushed to high fan speed and because my Velox case is a tank with glass side panels so I never hear anything out of anything anyway.
might have been useful to include that Gigabyte is refusing to RMA cracks on the pcb either caused by a design flaw or the heavy weight despite using gpu brackets which will end you with a VERY expensive papwerweight if it happens to you
Performance, thermala, noice AND coilwhine. I had a strix 4080 which had so much coilwhine that i couldn't stand it. It sounded like the scream-bug from Constantine

@@micheledeliberato8675 please explain exactly what you mean :-)
Great comparison video! Thank you!
Always super crisp video quality with these videos
Thank you!
Due to today´s GPU sizes, it would be better that brands offer 2x120mm brackets to put whatever fans you want, making it cheaper to produce
I think that's a good idea
I love yours video ❤
Ultimate video about RTX4080 Super. excellent work ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Get the founders edition if you can. You get the card at MSRP, it looks great and is built great, and it tends to have the highest resale value years later
A vendor inclusive and comprehensive review. An awesome job Nada 😉 🎉🎉
Now this is what I want. Let's face it, the general class of gpu one will get is pretty easy to figure out with the budget limits but which model... that's a tougher one.
Went with the Suprimx oc, very happy with it.
Enjoy!
Thank-you for this video...well-done, most informative, great perspective...bravo...!
I got the MSI Ventus one so slick for non RGB build 💪🏼
I won the lottery with it as well as I have been able to get some great overclocks out of it
If you're happy with it, that's all that matters :)
@@moritzckeller There are a few out there...do a search on google/youtube. I believe Jayztwocents did his 4080s review with one...
Very clear and well conducted review!
I need a 4080 super for VR. Too bad the current AMD cards are not dealing well with VR so those are a no go atm.
I just did a build for a 4080super from PNY and it’s amazing
i could never recover from this ,if i bought one or two abd she is on another level dayum
Great video! This helped me make my choice. I'll be getting the Gigabyte model simply because of the recessed connector. I don't like RGB, but I assume I can just turn it off.
Nice video like how many cards were reviewed
She said that the two Gigabyte cards were virtually the same, but the difference in Memory Temp was huge. How come?
Thank you so much! I almost wasted a lot of money on the strix.
Just send back to seller Gigabyte 4080 super aero. Coil whine was so loud under heavy duty and Helldiers 2 game. Have same problems with this model ?
Working on the 4070 Super and Ti Super now :)
@@TechTesters cool then! :D :D
Great content, you just won an ardent follower today 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for you knowledge lady 😉👍
Nice presentation .
Love you and your work here! Thank you
Glad it's appreciated!
Excellent video as always
This vid really helped me out with my choice. Thank you!
My favourite is Asus's TUF Gaming. Thanks for your testing.
My pleasure!
might have been useful to include that Gigabyte is refusing to RMA cracks on the pcb either caused by a design flaw or the heavy weight despite using gpu brackets which will end you with a VERY expensive papwerweight if it happens to you
Thank you very much for this super explaining video. How much psu watt is a minimum requirement? Is it gonna work with 750w psu ?
Depends on the quality of the PSU and your CPU choice really.
Id go with a good 850w or a ok 1000w, whatever you can get cheaper.
You probably could get away with a 750gold but to be on the safe side I'd upgrade.
Im glad i bought the aero on it looks perfect
I rock a 4080 Super Zotac in white, love it
Performance, thermala, noice AND coilwhine. I had a strix 4080 which had so much coilwhine that i couldn't stand it. It sounded like the scream-bug from Constantine
😂
@@bb-ballistics1706 sounds like i am making fun of it but it actually sounded like the screambug. it was so loud that the manufacturer took it back
Really informative... Looking forward to the review of Asus Noctua edition of 4080 super
