This was my first YCS ever. I must say the people there were the most nice, welcoming and chill people to get to know. I get major anxiety in big crowds, but people sat down at my table and hung out with me all day until our event times. I won my first ever real-life Yugioh game, and my opponents were so cool and non-toxic. For people who have doubts playing irl, don’t. The Yugioh community is more welcoming than what people may say online. I’m glad to say that I will be participating in more competitions going forward. Thank you, Yugioh community, for an amazing experience. ❤
36 this year, my best advice is that you never know until you try something. no not drugs... if you just let things pass you by because you're comfortable, you're going to be missing out. Trust me, take a leap even if it puts you broke or it causes anxiety. Life is crazy, things can change in 3-5 years so drastically that you forgot what got you there. So, get out there and do things that make you uncomfortable.
My friends went to YCS Orlando and they all dropped round 1 playing against nothing but Maliss and both ryzeal variants. The only deck that wasn’t a meata deck they played against was a random Dino deck
What's going on with your big dog? We've talked before.I love the footage.Keep doing what you're doing. I'm one of those boomers.I've been playing for twenty plus years. My advice would be even if you're scared give it a shot, If you don't try you never fail or learn from your mistakes.
Only 7 monsters in a 40 card deck 😱 yugioh is so different now lol 😂 a 40 card deck with only 7 monsters. Would have never been playable back in a day! Great video
idk, i dont think ryzeal is the problem necessarily, i think the fiendsmith variant is the issue, and what so you hit the ryzeals and then malis is 50-60% representstion? so whats the difference there?
On the plus side, if the OCG is anything to go by the newly released Blue-Eyes stuff from the Structure Deck (which was not eligible for this event) will push Primite Blue-Eyes into meta. (I don't think it would be fair to call a 3 deck format a Tier 0, per say) However we also know from the OCG that the support Ryzeal and ESPECIALLY MALLIS gets in Alliance Insight (releasing in the TCG in May) will make these decks even stronger. This unfortunately means we will probably be stuck with these two decks until August at the earliest (assuming neither deck gets anymore indirect support in Duelist Advance which will probably release in July). They aren't going to hit either deck hard in the meantime with any banlist since they will want to sell the cards in Alliance Insight (also considering the support will be one of the main selling points of that set its safe to assume both will have stupidly high rarities making both Ryzeal and Mallis even more expensive than they already are). Yeah the immediate future of the TCG doesn't look great. EDIT: I realised I didn't mention Mitsurugi, to have a playable first wave of a TCG exclusive archetype is insane, and if the second wave in Alliance Insight is even decent, it might be able to compete with the Ryzeal/Maliss dominance. Granted that's hoping for a good second wave for a TCG archetype which doesn't give me much hope. But even so it's fair to say Mitsurugi is the best TCG exclusive archetype since Gold Pride back in 2023.
OCG has engraver at 1, EXT at 1, dweller at 0, bonfire at 1. And ryzeal just became playable again after ALIN. If next list doesn’t neuter the deck it’s all there is to play for at least 6-8 months. See what DUAD does but it’s looking like it’s ryzeal all year. Play ryzeal or stay at home type format. Big tip is to buy up branded and sky striker now before prices go up support likely in DUAD due to animation chronicles
Blue eyes would barely put a dent into current meta. Ocg was playing pure ryzeal almost exclusively. The fiendsmith and mitsurugi variants are extremely better and more fast paced than blue eyes. The deck would also struggle somewhat going second vs any of the top decks rn.
Honestly this is all more motivation to keep on studying Tcg until I know a lot more on how to beat the meta because I'm interested in at least trying to go to locals and have fun. And also because scripting duels is fun as a creative exercise for me because I'm a writer. And beating Ryzeal going first with my deck doesn't seem hard at all so far mainly because of all the decklist shown their main thing is handtrap spam not board breakers. I can somewhat comfortably deal with the first the second was the problem. Only thing I need to figure out rn is: How do I defeat them better going second. Unfortunately this format still seems a lot like going first usually means you win but I'm certain I can find some way.
i run 4 decks a vampire deck using the cards based off the castlevania series i also run a amazonness deck with an opponent lock out that at best can pulled out on turn 1 and at worst turn 4 but by far my best deck is red-eyes dragonmaids with a few secrects within it and my most fun deck and is my first deck i ever made back in 2000 is an old school yugioh deck with a mix of old and new cards ranging from the original bls ritual monster and fiber jar to newer cards like jar of avarice and ultimeat offering sadly being unemployed and no money has stopped me from deck building
It's not a Tier zero because of Ryzeal, but because of Fiendsmith imo. And my unpopular opinion would be that Moon of the closed sky is the real problem that make Fiendsmith this strong, because otherwise I think since their burn card has been banned, it's a really strong engine but can be easily countered by Bystials or even DD crow. If they ban Moon, the engine is not so splashable everywhere, and the meta should be more open. I don't think Ryzeal or Maliss are tier 0 contestant, not until Alin at least, and we still have to remember that OCG is a really different meta than TCG so... I don't know, really a simple hit on Moon should be enough to not kill Fiendsmith, but making it an engine more fair. Being able to chain on this engine with any two body is just way too strong.
I think that always when we are very close to a great, and I mean GREAT, format, Konami steps in and messes it up with some tier 0 crap. This format is still looking ok, but Orlando certainly showed that Ryzeal and Fiendsmith are pushing the tier 0 status now. Which is so sad to see. We promote diversity thorugh X, Y, Z decks but there is fiendsmith and ryzeal is most decks. Maliss being the other standing-out deck makes me feel worried even more since Maliss is the type of deck you just dont want to be the BiF deck. If we reach that point, we’re cooked once again. Then the whole tier 0 process repeats itself once again. Here I am still thinking that Konami will change the rhythm up for good after going through numerous times through the tier 0 loop. Well, I guess kitchen table still is the way to go for Yugioh. Besides legacy formats.
I been rocking ryzeal utopia. The hole deck can search itself to special summon for days plus it set up a very impressive end borad. Im just been debating if i should put the fiendsmith engine in. 🤔
I’ve been enjoying YuGiOh a lot lately. I saw the top cut and how many ryzeal decks were present, and I started wondering if this was a tier 0 format (I don’t remember at which percentage of top cut representation a deck is considered tier 0), but even if it is, I honestly don’t dislike it. Fiendsmith is strong as hell and frustrating to go against, but ryzeal is nowhere near as frustrating to try and beat as other tier 0 or even tier 1 decks we’ve seen over the past few years. Maybe I’m biased because I love XYZ. Oh well I want, no, NEED someone to top with either Purrely, hero or Mimighoul next YCS. It’ll nourish my soul
@@sinner2133 yes the problem is with the floods like dweller, gryphon, shifter and with the recursiveness of the FS engine, not with the cores of maliss and ryzeal gameplay, I do hope they choose the route of hitting them because it makes no sense to hit these 2 new decks
love how everyone wants fiendsmith to die when i just wamt to be able to play it. i hate this cycle of not being able to play the game. new cards come out at high rarity, engraver is 150 dollars each. cards get reprinted in a year, price drops to next to nothing, cards hit on next list so you cant use them. shit sucks. maybe id enjoy the format if i could afford to play it at all.
Back in my day to be a tier 0 deck it needed 60% representation, not 50. Another thing is you have to also measure the ratio of people playing ryzeal in the event in total and see if it's not overrepresented due to basic statistics.
As a scrubbed out mid tier player I gotta say that Ryzeal isnt really the problem as much as the fiendsmith engine. I beat 2 pure ryzeal decks 2-0 but lost to the fiendsmith engine before my opponents even touched their Ryzeal cards.
Ryzeal i don't consider tier 0, 1 tier 0 is not an official thing it's fanmade. 2 majority of ppl don't consider it until it's 65% or higher, and finally it's just the start of the format

They need to hit FS, so it's not quite as strong. You play the best deck with the best engine and you either top or win a YCS. Not a shock there
