- A 17-year old from Lakewood is recovering after a fireworks accident left him severely injured. He wants to share a message with others his age.
What makes me sad is that he probably couldn't afford new fireworks from the kiosk, so seeing one on the floor filled him with joy and ignited it without really thinking..

Yeah, he was smart. So smart he picked up a misfired firework he found in the street, held it tight in his hand, and lit the scrap of remaining fuse. That's real brainpower!

I’ll never forget how I lite a cake firework upside down accidentally. It was like a bomb exploded. Horrible! Just a miracle no one was standing close to it. I learned my lesson and now I’m a bit fearful.

Lack of education of the danger as well as the pain he suffered from poor fellah.I had all the warnings with fireworks as a kid.I didnt get the danger warning on sparklers though but seeing that lit up you just knew not to put your fingers on it.

Theres a vid where a lad is near a lake,lights a firework in his hand,sensible,then goes to throw it and it took lumps off his hand when it went went off.He ran back screaming his voice box out.Pretty graphic stuff.Was it not him?

If the firework is used, wouldn’t that mean that it’s been denoted already? You mean, if there’s a short fuse, then best to stay clear. Regardless, even new fireworks can malfunction.
