  • An old greeting card technique adapts beautifully to the junk journal world in this fun-to-make tag. Use old scrapbook paper or even a junk mail envelope! It will absolutely make you say “oh, wow!” when you run across it in your journal, and you pack a lot of writing potential into the same journal space. Have fun with this!

If you’re looking for more junk journal ponderings…. Last summer, I made a limited-series podcast about all my deep thoughts regarding junk journaling. It’s free on the Spotify app! Search for “Ordinary Paper” or link here:
    podcasters.spotify.com/pod/da...
Note that in the first episode, I mention that I was doing a podcast because I didn’t think I had enough ideas for a UA-cam channel. Things (happily) went a different way, so ummm, never mind on that!

This is excellent. I make hidden paper clip bookmarks and this technique would be great. Putting the paper clip between the two circles.

I have to stop before I go any further in the video. You just said oh look it's slip is showing. Lol! I tried to tell my 28 year old son a funny story about a slip, and he didn't know what a slip was. I couldn't believe it!

😮 it is surprising the way in which we find out our children don’t know what an item is we commonly used because they didn’t grow up with those things. Same happened with me with a record player. Makes me melancholy for things gone by.

Benita, this is so funny! Yes, the whole notion of wearing a slip is sooooo far in my rear view mirror at this point - between retirement and changing fashion norms, it's hard to even remember back to the time when we weren't fully dressed without our slips and pantyhose! Thanks for the chuckle, and thank for watching!

How funny. Not long ago I had this dream, my dreams are typically very real, colorful and have lots of people in them these days. There I was, in this dream, wearing a dress???? I gave up on dresses years ago!! And what did I discover in the dream? I wasn’t wearing a slip!!!! I barely recall that dream now but I think someone said something to me and in the dream I panicked and spent the rest of the dream searching for a slip!! These days slip is near to falling! 😂 (not literally ❤funny to slip or fall!).

Great idea! I especially liked the version made out of junk mail. I bet you could reinforce the hinge part with Connie’s DIY fabric tape as well. It would probably ruin the surprise element of hidden journaling, but would be functional and aesthetically pleasing. By the by, I made some of the DIY fabric tape yesterday and used it on the outside of a journal spine. It worked so well! Thanks again for another wonderful idea today!

Part 2. Wow. You are really diligent about withdrawing the blade between cuts! Impressive!
I enjoy catching various vocabulary you use which is not typical. I’m a vocabulary and grammar person. So, I simply have to mention a pet peeve. Who started saying “exact same”? It’s redundant. An adverb would help in the the use “exactly” the same. But necessary? 😂
Boy you made my brain work overtime in the second and third pieces of paper for the stability of the circle!! Brain cramps!
I’m still watching. Whut? A pocket?! That’s cool!
I’m near the end of the vid. 😢
Oh, that vocab and grammar thing really gets me when auto CHANGE gets in the way and edit, edit bc I read my comments after posting. 🤪
    Great tags!
A PS edit … my son laughs bc every once in a while my vocabulary/grammar pet peeves “slip” into my conversation. Believe me I annoy myself. But I hear them so much they just show up.
I live in Central Texas. I suppose things said are more world wide in the English language but gerund words (ending in “ing” - which auto change turned to “big” at first typing!) get altered in Texan. Goin’ or gonna. Think’n etc. in my “corporate world” I used proper grammar. When I moved back to a more country area and was around family, oh my gosh I couldn’t believe all the Texas-talk and slang. I had quit working when my husband retired and so being exposed to these changes …. No!!!!!!! I really “slipped” into being Texan (native) once again!!! Noooooo! I’ve not recovered from that and have a mix of conversational English now. Although I just adore vocabulary and grammar. I’m far from having an exhaustive education in either … but …. And so often now in my old ability to weave a story of multiple parts to come back and close each section … well it ain’t workin’ so good! Oh, the “worst” Texan word that gets me? “Warsh” for wash. Ohhhh I gave my family grief! I’m sure about more than that. But then too, I spoke like a foreigner to them until ….😂😂❤❤

Yes, I stopped watching after the first tag so I could comment. Now to recall what I wanted to say after I distracted myself with the (above?) comment!
Counter-intuitive. Hmm. I wondered why. But wait, there’s more!
I thought when you turned the sample bit sideways there were many more pages like a booklet. Surprise. There wasn’t.
As you trimmed the first dyed paper with the circle punch, I wondered and kept pondering why didn’t you wait and do all three at once. In my mind I counter-intuitively (?) pondered this and that - flipping and turning the tag every which way to see if maybe it wasn’t possible. Surprise!! I never thought about the stability of the added circle. I laughed. Got me!
I was saying no no no don’t cover the back! Oh well. I understand. The red paper looked like it is ribbed. Even the white looked that way bc of the lines. It wasn’t until you opened it to glue the dyed paper I saw it wasn’t ribbed.
The coloring of the tag with the sun circle sure is pretty. Well, they all are, but that one kind of stood out with the color and design on the tag.
And you sure knew exactly where to trim that small paper for a template corner. Impressive.
Okay on to the next level. Oh, my captions are on (?!) and it’s paused. I see it’s with junk mail. Oh boy! ❤😊
