I love your 251 scales I learned something new very jazzy but your fingering too fast for me to catch I am just a pop Pianist thank so much for showing me your scales which is different from another teacher you are a great teacher and a jazzer greetings from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Hey guys, here’s a few licks I came up with, hope you enjoy this new kind of content! First to answer correctly gets free score of these licks: the bonus lick is in the style of what famous jazz pianist?
These are great, Timothy. So helpful to those of us learning jazz. How do you formulate the transition chord or two that you play when you go from one lick to the next?
Hey Michael! That's simply an A7 chord (sometimes I made it an A b13 #9 chord). It works as a transition because it serves as a dominant 7 to the next chord, which is Dm. So, it makes a minor V -> i.
Negative - have you ever wondered HOW those who create “licks” make them? Once you understand how to create jazz phrases you really do not need licks as your creativity becomes unlimited. Copying licks is a tunnel-vision strategy as it lacks new ideas.... and as a result one runs the risk of sounding monotonous. And what are the chances of you sounding like someone else?
@Q I´m not sure why that would really matter. It´s a good informative lesson in and of itself, regardless of whatever influences may have contributed to its creation.
Your LH is not as written in the video, which may disappoint many and frustrate. But I realised that this was written for all levels. Trying to find a teacher for this kind of material is difficult, as they need to be a player and also a good teacher with experience. Not your common rhythm of classical, which is the norm. I still endorse your effort and please do not be offended. Thank you.
Nothing wrong with your examples, but this is what is written in the the so called "Real" books....play with the real cats for 30 + Years and then...maybe! You play real JAZZ!!! What you teach is "coffee to go" likE everyone in the internet...
It's really annoying how information is everywhere today. Not trolling. Stop minimizing the importance of players who actually LISTEN to albums and search new music. Licks shouldn't just be given out on youtube. They should be EARNED by the musician listening to songs and discovering something others have not. No wonder people play Jazz like crap for the most part today. No values like the old days.
I know what I’m gonna do during thanksgiving break.
This is a great place to start building some jazz vocabulary! Thanks so much for sharing!

some good licks in here! My fav is definitely the bonus (kinda not fair cuz it's a full progression lol), but I liked 2 3 7 9 and 10.
Great! Exactly what I was looking for...
#3 was the most basic bebop line I've ever heard. Great video!
Not exactly a compliment...
This is just what I need. Thank You so much!
Thank you brother
Very nice licks, would be nice to actually notate what you play with your left hand as well
Sweet licks‼️ Looove number 10, had me bobbing my head & finger-popping like a hepcat, yah‼️😎

wonderful bebop patterns! great job Timothy! #respect

grazie mille molto utile
Claudio Quorato Prego e grazie!
Very nice!!!
All sounded great, but I really liked #10
Awesome! Thanks a lot
Thank you so much, excelent lesson!
So good. Nice job :)
Awesome!
You know I'm gonna flat out steal all these licks right?
It's not stealing if it's given away freely!
what about a video in the style of Oscar Peterson? great vid!
Hm.. that's an idea! Oscar Peterson was my greatest inspiration moving from the classical to jazz world!
Is it wrong I like the C# at 2:10 the best?
Erroll Garner tutorial pls
genius!!
If you transcribed the Michel Petrucciani “Round Midnight” performance, that would be amazing.
10 is so cheeky lol
first comment visit and like! Just recommend you to listen to "cant take my eyes of you - pierre yves plat "
By the way, very nive cover
Gracias 🎶❤
i like number 9
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I recognized the 10th is from the Richie powell solo on stompin at the savoy from the Clifford Brown and max roach album right ?? :)
armand foucault im sure I was inspired by something I heard, but I made up #10!
Been playing same that chart lately!
Can I use some of these to compose a jazz song?
Nice!!! Deus abençoe
Muito obrigado!
Shouldn't it be another Bb ghost note in the lick number 1?
Awesome stuff. Have you ever considered adding what recordings you get this from or are inspired by?
I devised all the licks, with the exception of #8, which is a modified line from one of Michel Petrucciani’s recordings (don’t remember which!)
it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.
Do you use a midi piano sound plugin? If so what kind it sounds great!
When I see him stretch from G2 to middle C.. an 11th when I can't reach a tenth.
*what a jerk*
where?

Triplets licks!!!
you play very good why you can't slow down and explain some techniques
Hey Timo! Makadi... instead of showing licks, why not show “how” to make phrases instead. Just a tip 😉👍🏾✌🏾
There's a lot of info already, and learning licks is adding to vocabulary. From which you can create your own licks.

your fingering has to be changed if one has not a very big hand.... your 5th finger is very long

Are u good at jazz?
@@ssfirefly13 Ya I can play. Sax player. I played with Terence Blanchard a few times on tour.
@@ciaronsmith4995 I feel like most people get it from both worlds.I used to use these type of videos for more analysis than actual licks.
I'd also argue the level of jazz has greatly risen like look at a lot of these highschool players man.
