You know the best way to counter this? Side with the AI/Redacted, get so close, they allow you to make a colony in their space. Mock every pirate that tries to get past your fleet+Redacted fleet clusterfuck Once made a colony that has 2 stations. One naturally spawned Redacted station, and one I made myself. The fact that this review is so old and the devs never disabled the CD key is kind of amazing. @@Mikey-zj8bn Yeah. Goes to show that people will support good games. Anti-piracy is just big business trying to protect their right to overcharge you for lazy products.
@@oldred890 Yeah. Pirates software works pretty much the same as libraries or rentals do, in my opinion. It's free advertising and leads to more sales if your product is any good and many of the people that don't buy simple refrain because they can afford to or feel the product wasn't good enough to justify the purchase, not because they're chuckling all the way to the bank at having gotten the product for free. The reason big business is so hardcore against it is for two reasons: 1. Simple greed. Armani suit executives breaking out in hives at the thought of a single missed sale. 2. The knowledge that more and more games just aren't worth the asking price, so the opportunity to try it for free just means LESS sales as people experience first hand how bare-bones and phoned in the product is and drop it like yesterday's news.

12:54 yes, pirates are hostile, but they like to close their eyes on any fleet with disabled transponder. You can kill them in space, but in the end of the day, resources are resources, and pirates (and luddic terrorists) are fucking starving.
The game has a slow start, but a couple of tutorials and you can become an economic potency in no time. Also I recomend installing the Lightshow mod wich color codes each type of damage so you don´t have to expend your shields against low damage ballistics. Also install portrait packs, unless you want to see the same 20 faces across the universe

Found the game while watching the Sseth video, decided to try the game because it looked fun, and found out that it's actually really fun. Didn't know i would spend so much time on this game, I honestly think that this game gives me more enjoyment than cyberpunk (too much hype...)
I bought this game in 2013 and have never regret the purchase. The combat by itself is amazing. The only negative thing I can say is that making money is pretty tricky, though it might also be a bit too easy in some cases. Buying and selling drugs appears to be the easiest method of generating funds early game, otherwise I find making money is difficult until you have your own colony.
How not to get targeted by pirates? Turn off your transponder before you get close to them if you are neutral or low hostility, but if you are friendly with them (you can join them) you don't need it, but why would you leave your transponder on if you're a pirate in the first place? Pirate or not, I always go with transponder off, specially in hyperspace. Hyperspace has no rules regarding transponder, no faction will call you out in hyperspace for having transponder off. Due to practical reasons: hyperspace is not always calm, sometimes it's stormy as shit and will cause damage if you pass by it in bad weather, how do you avoid these storms? Go dark and turn off power.
