  • Randy Castillo właściwie Randolpho Francisco Castillo (ur. 18 grudnia 1950 - zm. 26 marca 2002[1]) - amerykański perkusista rockowy i heavymetalowy.
    W drugiej połowie lat siedemdziesiątych trafia do The Wumblies. Dołącza do The Motels, i wraz z ekipą odbywa trasę supportując "The Cars". 3 lata później Randy bierze udział w sesji nagraniowej albumu Lity Ford pt. "Dancin' on the Edge".
Z zespołem Ozzy'ego nagrał dwa albumy studyjne "No Rest For The Wicked" i "No More Tears" (na których był także współautorem wielu kompozycji) oraz dwa albumy koncertowe "Just Say Ozzy EP" oraz "Live And Loud".
Aerosmith, Def Leppard i Alice Cooperowi.
Niestety, kilka tygodni przed rozpoczęciem trasy promującej album "New Tattoo", podczas występu ze swoim amatorskim zespołem Azul (w którym randy realizował swoje muzyczne fascynacje, zespół grał m.in. flamenco i cygański folk) w Cat Club w Hollywood, Randy poczuł się źle. Został poddany serii silnych napromieniowań i chemioterapii.
Pozostawił matkę i cztery siostry.
    Randy Castillo zajmował się również malarstwem.

He was the best rock drummer in the world in my opinion, but more than that he was a sweet Imp who made me laugh and cry. I can believe he is gone because he lived life to the fullest. 51 Y/O ~ Randy Castillo was taken by jaw cancer way too young. He was a proud Apache and New Mexican plus a dedicated drummer. I toured with The Wumblies some in the ‘70’s and got to see Randy play every night as he was perfecting putting on his own drumming show and stick tricks which were impressive along with giant drum kits and Randy quickly rose to the top. It wasn’t long before he was playing arena’s opening for The Cars, then Lita Ford before being Ozzy’s long-time drummer and capable of replacing Tommy Lee in Motley Crue. I’m sure his show & stick tricks helped him get/keep his job with Ozzy.
    Everybody talking shit about Randy being a flashy, showboat drummer ..... please tell us what band you play for that is bigger than Ozzy or the Crue, they must have liked his style. Technically notice how his Tom-toms are level a sign of his many years of marching band/drum corp practice & playing.

      Critical opinions of an artist are not invalid simply because the critic doesn't possess an equal career resume, that is a cheap ad hominem deflection tactic, not a counter argument for why the critic is wrong.

    • @susannadominguez739
      @susannadominguez739 4 роки тому +5

      Playing well isn't easy, but whenever you add the stick tricks I become mesmerized. I've seen drum clinics from Simon Phillips to Gregg Bissonet, and Randy Castillo would have put on one hell of a clinic!

    I saw Randy playing with Lita Ford, early 80’s, at Reseda Country Club. It was my first concert. I was floored by Randy’s playing. It set a standard for the rest of my life, a pretty high one very few even came close to. Then I got to meet him in 1989-90, at the Red Onion where he a judge in a drum-off. I actually got to talk to Randy for about 15 min. He was one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth, charming, likable guys I’ve ever met. I was truly sad when he passed. I still am. The world and music lost one of the greatest.

    Randy was always a killer drummer! I loved his style and technique so much! Still do, in fact. One night in 1986 at the Monsters Of Rock festival at Castle Donington in the uk, Randy and the rest of the band almost made my ears bleed. Really, that gig was on a saturday night, and come the following tuesday, if i got myself into a quiet space, my ears were still just about ringing! Seriously. Crazy shit! We love and miss you greatly, Randy!! Thank you for it all! RIP, Dude... \m/
