I grew up in the Pee Dee and now live on the Grand strand. It's hard to convince a non-local how good chicken bog is. It's one of those dishes that is somehow better than all of its components
Looks really good! My only question is in the amount of water since that will be relative to the size of the pot used. In a bigger pot than yours, it's going to take a LOT of water which may not come out right.
Yeah, It's from the Carolinas! I was born and raised in Lake city sc, All those ridiculous seasoning don't go into the bog, We didn't even know what seasoning was?
I checked into it and we don’t have Pender’s up here. We often pick between Usinger’s or Klement’s, which are local sausage companies for us in Wisconsin.
@@BogLife I'm in the South Carolina area, I guess maybe that's why its easy to find here. But if you ever use it in your chicken bog , I guarantee you you'll start using Penders 😋 Gonna be cooking a big bog for SuperBowl Sunday , hope you have a great weekend !
My parents and aunt lived near Florence, yes we grew up on chicken bog
This is your sister’s Favorite too!! Love it!
You did it very well!
And on the Georgtown/Williamsburg County side of the Pee Dee its called Pileau, and cooked a tad different.
Thank you so much for putting the measurements!

It is a huge favorite in our house.
Born and raised in Florence, and I’ve heard it’s called that because “the chicken is bogged in the rice”.🤷🏾♂️
I lived on the Grand Strand for years. I know it is blasphemous, but I have made bog with Rice-A-Roni. Try it.

When you’re done making the broth separate it from the pot and measure in what you need. Then the rest of the broth can be saved, frozen, or canned.

The best sausage for chicken bog is the Penders brand
