I have done this, sold old equipment and added new as refurbished equipment was increasing error rates, we done this incremental over 2 years and now have 100% capacity in all regions

Derek, I got confused on Wholesale Marketing surplus/shortfall. Should I try to keep them positive or negative? And why?

Surplus should be around +50 in each area. If it's too high then you will have a bunch of leftover shoes most likely. If too low, you will not have enough shoes to sell and then you are missing out on profit. Glad to help!
So helpful! Question: my prof said NOT to purchase stock but I listened to you and I'm in first place by alot in week 4. Why is he telling everyone to not purchase stock?
I have no idea. I tell everyone to always purchase stock if possible and never issue stock. Of course there are times for both, but a this is the blanket answer. I’ve found that most profs don’t truly understand how to “play” the game. Glad you liked the video!

Hi, Derek! We are in year 13. So far our score is 119 and we are doing really well. My question is about the stock repurchase. I repurchased 200 shares in the first year because I expected the price to go up. I want to repurchase more but am not sure if it is a good idea because at present the price is 433 per share. The EPS rating goes a little up, but still for 100 shares I have to spend 43 million. What will be your advice to me? Thank you!
Great job first of all! Second, I would buy the stock if you can maintain your eps.
@@DerekBarnick Thank you for the quick response. We've finished year 12 with EPS 13.87. The projected for this year is 18.72 if I buy 100 shares and 18.62 if I dont. Maybe we can go for it. We still have a couple of days untill Thursday, when the round finishes to think about it 😀. Thanks!

at 7:20, what methods would you use to change shortfall into a positive number if they are negative?
Make more shoes by adding production and capacity, increase price some. The best would be to make more shoes.
I don't understand why you advise to put the search engine advertising at 0 for the Internet marketing, our competitors got the better of us by spending more than us. We are at year 12 though. Could you tell why? Thank you! great video too
Sometimes search engine ads aren’t beneficial for your EPS, more recently though, I have updated my advice to use some search engine ads. Search engine advertising is a very small portion of why a company does good or bad. My two latest guides give my most up to date advice 👍🏼
Also, that was only a suggestion for one year most likely. Once a company has celebrities and later in the game, you will increase search engine advertising most likely.

We have so much debts made in the beginning that we don't know how to solve
Some ideas:
1) Increase profits
2) Sell equipment
3) Sell shares, but I don't usually recommend because it hurts your EPS, but if you have a high stock price, it might be good.
4) Clearance leftover inventory.
Hey Derek, I am in year 13, and all production facilities are open. However, I am having some issues with my branded production needed is much lower than pairs to be manufactured, and my inventory surplus shortfall is in the +thousands
You’re making too many shoes for your demand. Fix it quick or you will struggle.
@@DerekBarnick Do you think I would benefit by selling my equipment in 2 of my regions or what would be a good way to fix this? I am currently ranking 5th with a 101 but overall 89, and my class only is running decisions to the 15th year.

You have to make more profit and pay off debt. If it gets really bad, you should seek help.

what are some things we can do to bring up our credit rating
Pay off loans and make enough profit to pay the interest on them. The main thing about credit rating is that you just need to make sure you have an A+ by the final year to get the best score. You could have a low credit rating throughout the whole game, but as long as you have a high one at the end, you will be fine.

Derek, Is it a good idea to do private label if you are selling high S/Q, high priced shoes? Is it a good idea to look into private label when you don't have enough production to meet current branded demand?
Hey Jacob,
I think PL is almost always a good idea because it really helps your image rating, but every situation is different. As for PL vs. branded, look at the profit margins and you have to weigh the risk of not winning the bid for PL. Also, if you do have high S/Q shoes, you probably don't have to spend anything extra to gain more S/Q rating to satisfy the PL minimum rating to sell which is a bonus.

We have a lot of inventory left over (400-700 pairs), should we do an inventory clearance? Than we have for example -651 in North America. But then we don’t know if we need to invest in brand ads or produce more to fill up that shortfall? Thanks in advance!

Sooner the better for expansion into LA. I don't usually suggest EA.

If you can't produce enough shoes for demand, you can increase price to lower that demand or reduce advertising.
Why is his private-label operation not working? I have the same problem here!
This company did not have any extra shoe supply to sell in private label. You need to go to Branded Production and make sure your factories have shoes leftover after shoes going to internet and branded.

You can either produce more shoes if you have the ability to do so, or you will have to reduce demand by raising price, lower advertising, decrease models of shoes produced, etc.

I need help. After year 15 my projected performance for year 16 is now all negative numbers. What did I do wrong?
If I had to guess, you aren’t making enough shoes for your demand in Y16 due to AP depreciation of equipment.
Hi Derek! This team in the lead is getting 3-4 bonus points every year. What can we do to get bonus points?
You can get two bonus points per year. One is the leapfrog award for having the highest score change in a single year. The other is bullseye award. This one can be obtained by being accurate with your competitive assumptions.

It will not allow me to alter my private label which may be the reason why this group's private label is blank. I was wondering if you had any advice on how to alter this, or if this is just a mode built into the game.
You're exactly right! This can be done by having leftover supply from production facilities for PL. I typically will do PL first to cap those out, then use the rest of supply for branded production although this might not work depending on your competition. If you can't figure out how to do this, email me!
