I am uncertain of the future steps but will have more info on Monday when i go to fracture clinic.

Deep breaths, Lee. You aren’t going to make any running goals, any recovery goals, or be able to deal with all them UglyThoughts that WILL come up with all this free time you have to endure if you can’t get your breathing down. Glad you’re keeping us posted and if you need to talk without a camera or the pressure for likes hit me up.

Dire situation mate! I hope you can come back strong after the back is sorted mate. I hope the NHS can get you back on track soon mate. Realistically even with a broken back you will probably still do more running than some. Chin up mate! 😎🤘

All the best Lee… you have the ultra mindset and strength to solve this situation. Listen to what the specialist tells you on Monday and this becomes your new training plan and I’m sure you’ll be on the ultra starting line.

Yes mate driving myself a bit insane because I don't know a clear path until Monday. I hoping I don't need surgery and that it's not as bad as it could be. I'm very blessed to be still walking and moving about so have to look on the brighter side. ✨️ thanks for watching

Gutted for you, Lee. I'm sure you'll come through stronger than ever. My running has come to an abrupt end this week as well. It's not as severe as your back, but I tried to continue to run, but it's too painful. I'm facing a possible operation to get it sorted. If they decide not to operate, then I'm not sure what I can do. All the best. I'll be watching your progress.

😩😫😖😣☹😟😢🤦🏻‍♀🤦🏻‍♀ Last year a friend came off his bike at 115km/h, landed on his head and was in intensive care for 2 weeks... yeah it took a while and yeah his wife had to take care of him, and yeah he couldn't do his job, but he's back to his life now and running and mountain biking again!! Have you seen the scientific research about the impact of attitude on recovery time?? Catastrophic thinking, even if it's "true", can massively increase recovery time. So you'll be doing another form of "ultra marathon" for a while now!!! Sending LOTS of positive energy your way Lee!!

Mindset is huge bev. A few years ago I had acl reconstruction surgery and lateral meniscus repair. Physio said it would be 18 months until I was fully fit. 6 months after surgery I run cardiff half marathon in 1.26

I expect this will be a long and steep way to go. But I'm pretty sure you have the strength and endurance as well as the support of your loved ones to make it it all way through.

You poor lad, one bit advice, rather than use Dr. GOOGLE, write your questions out to ask the doctor in front of you.
I live with a head injury, which mainly involves forgetting yesterday, but used to be not being able to read, but every pang I have according to Dr. GOOGLE is a brain tummer (excuse spelling as autocorrect can't figure out what I'm trying to spell).
Your already moving better then I expected, but do not push yourself too hard to early, this is your biggest ultra yet, so get the negative split, soft and easy to start and a strong finish.
In my thoughts Lee. Luck after yourself.
