- UPDATE (9/23/2018): Ancestry DNA recently updated their DNA to a more specific percentage and also region. I will list below by region:
Native America combined: 45%
Native America (North/Central) 39%
Native America (South) 6%
Europe combined: 38%
Spain 29%
Italy 3%
Basque 2%
Ireland 1%
Portugal 1%
Sardinia 1%
Greece 1%
Africa combined: 11%
Cameroon, Congo, Southern Bantu 6%
Mali 3%
Nigeria 1%
Senegal 1%
Middle East: 6%
So as you can see, there is a small change in the percentages, nothing major, but I did randomly get an email saying my DNA updated. They explain how their scientific equipment and data they use evolves, so when they discover dna from new parts, they run the dna again.
I’m Honduran too omg! It’s so rare to see Honduran people do this test and this makes me wanna do it so bad
Do it! We discovered we weren't Maya, but Inca.
@@daphnecolomer1883 how to do the test?
My names is
Axel flores and all I can possibly say is thank you I absolutely needed this
I’m from hunduras and at this very moment lost and trying deeply too find my roots
I wish you the best love 🌹
I'm so happy to hear that! It's always interesting to know where we derived from. Wish you the best too
Honduras
I’m Honduran but I look middle eastern and i have pale white skin
You may be Middle Eastern I heard there was a big migration from Palestinian Arabs to Honduras
I am the same. Your paleness might be from Spain, as is mine. The Spanish were in Honduras for a long time.
I’m Honduran and have always wanted to do this. Now I’m here hahaha
The reason they have not separated your Honduras area is because of lack of mass testing in that area
Do you watch Finding Your Roots? There's a DNA test that we common folk won't have access to for a while, that did narrow down the area in Latin America.
My wife is Honduran and trying to find records for her is next to impossible. And her family is pretty secretive for whatever reason.
Respect From Cameroon
Cool video, my dad is from Honduras and my mom is from Guatemala. Ima do one and see what I get
Hi jsoceana, i too I'm Honduran from Las Islas de Roatan, what part of Honduras are you from?and its nice to see some of my catrachos getting testing for dna..i enjoyed this video hopefully more of us will get ancestral dna tested so w'ell maybe have more info about our origins..ps i think u may be Lenca (one of the indigenous ethnic groups in Honduras) :)
My mom is from Tela and my dad from Olancho! And yes, I've been reading up on what tribes exactly were in that area back then, it's so interesting :)
Well Mayans were not the only indigenous in Honduras there was more it just depends what region you are in
South Italy have difirent dna from North Italy. You can see in youtube:
1) ( The History of the Greeks)
2) (Ancient Greek Cities in Italy - Magna Graecia)
3) (What the Calabrian Greek sounds like)
4) (Griko language)
5) (History of Sicily, ancient period)
6) (History Of Greek Colonies In Sicily)
7) (History of the Byzantine / Eastern Roman Empire)
8) (Why Italy is north / south divided?)
9) [Athos the Holy Mountain (Greece) - CBS Documentary]
*The last, is a picture of Byzantium
You’re Honduran so look up the tribes that lived in your area, DNA isn’t specific about native DNA because it’s all for the most part the same everywhere. I saw in a comment you’re from atlantida so I’d say maybe some mesquitia tribe, garifuna, those being the tribes found in that area. Mine were the Lenca and chorti maya for my area in Santa Barbara.
I had the same issue with my results.. it wasn’t specific and gave me a general outcome. Thanks for letting us know about what tribes to look for. Thank you
I'm curious, but I won't take mine; that's how you end up in DNA databases all over the world. I’m not doing anything wrong, but who knows where your information gets sold? It's scary. I'm Honduran as well so Imma assume our results are similar since Honduras is so small. We have similar skin color and hair texture.
Hondurans are so hard to find in UA-cam.
I agree!
My sons' came back Maya. Their father is from Honduras.
Thats not possible, everyone knows it would simply read as 'American'
I’m from Honduras I’m Mayan and black Egyptian
@@mellowvision3565 The Anglos hijacked that word. It would say Meso Américan or Central American.
As an Honduran from Honduras i don't understand why Honduran Americans are so hang up on the negatives of our history.
It's kinda unfair to assume that on every Honduran American off of a 4 minute video based my own DNA ancestry. Although, being educated in America, that's all we are taught in a worldwide history standpoint. We don't learn absolutely anything else about Central American history. Compared to being educated in Honduras, obviously they focus on a lot more great and positive things that happened apart from the colonization of Spaniards.
I don't think she was negative at all. If u don't like her video go make your own. Great job young lady!!
Are we suppose to be proud of our European roots, all of its from oppression , so how you suppose to take it, we Hondurans, Mexicans, Salvadorians, Guatamalens actually fought the Spaniard, ours is a result of being conquered , the rest of Latin America is more exceptive because the amount of European blood is in them
I'm Salvadoran and have many Honduran cousins according to my test, and my mom didn't even know we were part Indigenous and could care less. My stepdad is looks indigenous as hell and has followed Catholicism (nothing wrong with that) since he was a kid. He talks about European religious figures and I was a little frustrated when I told him this was all brought over from Europe, and that it wasn't established here in the Americas, he just kind of nodded and seemed uninterested on his mostly indigenous heritage which he does not practice. And it's really not his fault, I don't either. Colonization made us forget alot of our cultures and as Salvadoran Americans or Honduran Americans, we like to educate our family about our different ethnicities and the cultures we have.
jsoceana I’m Honduran from Santa Barbara department (living in the U.S) and I agree with you, they did come and rape us, steal from us and then they have the tenacity to tell us that they did us a “favor” like the fuck?
My results were almost the same as yours. Honduras has some native tribes left now. A good rule of thumb is hair type and skin tone. All are derivatives of the Mayans. Hope this helps.
You can tell with hair type and skin tone ?
@@marichelmatute4831 The Lencas and Tawakas have curly or wavy hair.
@@calibanxpablewhat about straight hair?
@@nikolainthegarden I know only the curly or wavy hair tribes. The Tolupanes of Yoro have straight hair and their skin tone is kind of a unique shade of brown. The Mayas had straight hair too.
I wonder if your results got more detailed now that it's been two years. I haven't done one. I wanna do both ancestry & 23. My grandparents & dad are from Honduras, but because not many people from that region do these tests they don't have detailed info. Sucks. Cause like yours I don't have stories. I just have to research and draw my own conclusions.
the reason for individual African and European countries, ethnic and cultural groups is the amount of individuals from those countries in the data base. Majority of the First Nation federations sternly object to members of the tribes participating in genetic testing. I believe the Native results are generated from people who are an admixture voluntarily submitting test samples-such as individuals like you and I, or a select group of individual Native Americans. I learned the Lumbee of Robenson Co. North Carolina were involved in some form of community testing years ago, but not by the commercial companies. I am majority African American/European, but both my 2x great grandmothers were, one of Lumbee descent, and my other had family that came from Costa Rica to New Orleans in the 1830s- which showed up as Meso American genetics when I submitted my genes to DNA.land. DNA.land or GEDMATCH.COM may tell you more specific demographics of your Indigenous DNA. All companies use different algorithms, and it varies on the number of alleles, segments, etc. are tested. Read professional data by trusted scholarly geneticist and those dedicated to advance study and research in genetic genealogy, as it is a very young field. Good hunting on your family discovery.
Thank you so much! I wish I knew that prior going through Ancestry DNA, but I'll definitely check those companies out.
That's because the Lumbee barely HAVE any Native blood. They're mostly just African where the Native is supposed to be. I live in NC and know MANY of them. Some of them come close to getting the "Native" look, but that is easily achievable with the right mix of African ancestor paired with European prntscr.com/gssoce prntscr.com/gssp7j prntscr.com/gssqlt (Tyson has some Chinese ancestry) prntscr.com/gsstoe
Some African American ancestors were brought here as Malagasy and Malagasy mixed slaves off the coast of South Africa. I've actually got a Lumbee woman's results, and also a Lumbee guy's results. Both have small amounts of Southeast Asian and Native American ancestry. Lumbee have had the same blood swirling in their community since the 1700s, because they have only married other people within their community for so many generations. Many brought in more White blood, but the African blood is still highly visible. The younger members have begun to embrace that truth that their ancestors have kept from them for hundreds of years and countless generations. They're basically similar to Dominicans, but with even less Native
and just so you know I'm not making it up... Roberta Estes is a leading Native American DNA researcher
"The Lumbee have long claimed descent from the Lost Colony via their oral
history4
. The Lumbee DNA Project shows significantly less Native American
ancestry than would be expected with 96% European or African Y chromosomal
DNA. The Melungeons, long held to be mixed European, African and Native
show only one ancestral family with Native DNA5
. Clearly more testing would be
advantageous in all of these projects.
This phenomenon is not limited to these groups, and has been reported by other
researchers such as Bolnick (et al, 2006) where she reports finding in 16 Native
American populations with northeast or southeast roots that 47% of the families
who believe themselves to be full blooded or no less than 75% Native with no
paternal European admixture find themselves carrying European or African y-line
DNA. Malhi (et al, 2008) reported that in 26 Native American populations nonNative
American Y chromosomal DNA frequency as high as 88% is found in the ..."

You have a very good presentation. Organized and to the point. Thank you for sharing your DNA journey. Did you take a 23 & me DNA journey?
Not yet, but I do plan on doing one around mid-this year. Thank you for your comment! I strive to be organized lol
Great job congratulations!!!
The biggest issue with separating native American populations is that all native Americans crossed over the bering strait from Siberia relatively recent. Mayans, olmec, and andean first people, all have very very similar DNA.
No that were the inuits in alaska, they have different DNA than native Americans
@@phillipdaugherty1486 Not so different. Most Inuits have also Native American blood. Check there videos.
They have updated again.
Did your results update and have you uploaded your raw dna to get your breakdown
Ur part Garifuna I'm Honduran too part of ur African ancestry
The Italian is just your Spanish side because a lot native Spanish will have a lot of Italian or Greece
What does this even mean? If it's "just" spanish, it would show up as spanish. Clearly the dna is difference to the spanish which is why it's in the italian/greek side. lol
*Nahla Noelle ... the Italian/Greek shows up in many Hispanic persons' dna is because the Iberian peninsula was inhabited by Greeks/Romans centuries ago and they inter-mixed with the Iberians ... same holds for dna showing North Africa & thats because of the moors (from N.Africa) in Southern Spain for centuries (I got same results in my dna test)
I think the confusion is that "spanish side" is taken by some to mean SPAIN and others just use it to mean "hispanic." If you say "italian/greek" is just spain, then that's inaccurate because the dna even if there due to migration or invasion, is still not spanish but italian/greek; however, if you mean 'italian/greek' is there due to you being hispanic, then, yeah, that's accurate because spaniards (taking along with them other type of blood, including italian/greek" invaded places like mexico so that dna is there because of that history).
Wtf did you say? 😂😂😂 your Italian and Greek side is just your Spanish side 😂😂😂 fucking tard
moors in spain? false. that invasion never existed. Catholich church invented that history
sister those mixtures of Dan make you very beautiful
*jsareni these are cool results ... mine were very similar & same areas just slightly different % ... you have a lot of heritage to be proud of - the Italian/Greek shows up in many Hispanic persons' dna is because the Iberian peninsula was inhabited by Greeks/Romans centuries ago and they inter-mixed with the Iberians ... same holds for dna showing North Africa & thats because of the moors (from N.Africa) in Southern Spain for centuries (I got same results in my dna test)
Mom is honduran dad venezuelan
I am an honduras as well , I did this test too and I think it's BS , first of all I get same result over the time they modified .
I thought you were Palestinian!
Sw4gg-ninja713 i thought she was Irish-brittish/alien
I’m Palestinian, and she can definitely pass.
Not the first time I've gotten that! Haha
Sw4gg-ninja713 and I thought she was a boy when I saw thumbnail😂
Sw4gg-ninja713 she looks Palestinian or Moroccan .
Bro I don't know what place im from cause I'm a mix of black and latino
SPAIN Greece and Italy have specific traits in their blood like Thallasemia,,,Native American blood does not differ it has the same structure thats why the do not separate what part
mmaakkiinn - respectfully disagree. It has been documented that genome codes vary across North, Central and South America continents. Even within the Aztec civilization it has been documented sub nations ethnic train varied.
Your part Garifuna
Yeah, I've heard my grandma from my dad's side is part Garifuna.
Garifunas are not the only afro Caribbean group in Honduras. U have Jamaicans, Haitians, Cayman Islanders, etc etc. U also have Africans that came way before the above groups and intermixed with the indigenous populations. So if your DNA shows west Africa it does not mean automatic garifuna u need to know family history etc
But during the late 1790's Africans were marooned from the island of St Vincent and ended up in the island of Roatan in Honduras and spread out to many Honduran coastal towns, and they were West Africans who mixed with the natives Payans and may or may or more likely be the ancestors of present day Garifunas..
Not all Black people from Honduras are Garifuna...
Garifuna stop trying to claim ... There were black slaves in Honduras long before the Garinagu's was exiled by the British to Honduras..
Hey do you mind sharing your name see if we match I have ancestry my heritage gedmatch and 23 n me I'm looking for my hundorian side of my family if I find them I can probably find my dad
Honduran
i'm honduran (both parents as well), i just did the test.
I'm scared I wanna be 100% native american.
You are not 100 % native, there is no way, not in 100000000000 years.
Of course, wishful thinking LOL
so I did 23andMe and it says:
44.2% European
mostly Spanish and Portuguese
36.8% East Asian & Native American
12.3% African
6.8% Unassigned
You might be if you are from the interior. Intibuca or Lempira or Gracias a Dios. But what's wrong with being mixed? Do you hate your name? The Spanish language? The Hispanic culture? Being a Latina Christian? You hate all that?
youtube ancient watchman
Thanks for the video I was curious... but of course when you say the Spanish came to your land and raped etc... You are speaking about almost 1/2 of yourself being 44% European more than Native American.... I have believed that Polynesians had to have left their genetic mark in South/Central America since they discovered 11,000 Pacific Islands it is hard to imagine they missed two continents entirely. the Jewish and Spanish is pretty common among Hispanics since the Moors conquered Spain and their were also many crypto-Jews since they were persecuted in Spain. The Polynesians were to the Pacific what the Phoenicians were to the Mediterranean except they actually seemed to be the best mariners of ancient times traveling much further than the Phoenicians ever did.
And América is one continent not two. Has always been one and all over the world it's one. The USA in the 1960's started teaching the two continents for Anglo protestant racist reasons.
@@adrianalainez8499 Lol right no America is two continents by definition because it sits on to separate continental plates. protestants were defined as such because they were in protest against the teachings of the Catholic Church which were not Biblical and have nothing whatsoever to do with race? Where do you people come up with this stuff?
I’m honduran too and just ordered mine lol
I feel for you.
love it
What part from Honduras ?
Tela. I live in Atlanta, GA though.
jsoceana from tela too!
I can't believe that you don't have any Black African ancestry.
Most Hondurans are part African.
Did you intentionally leave it out??
most hondurans are native and spanish mix with a ranging percentages of african. It varies but to say that most hondurans are african is a reach
She's pretty
Thank you :)

I'm not surprised you're African mixed but I thought you would be atleast 30%
