@@3TXSisters me too! I buy real good bras that last a long time and they fit nicely. I only have 4 bras that I recycle as well as my panties. I have a dozen or more panties (they are a little cheaper "Hanes" but they have last several years) and yes, I also recycle them. I fold them smaller to fit into small container so that one bra, panties or socks does not get all the wear. By putting the panties and socks into a container and folding them smaller they are easier to recycle and last a longer time. Each time everything is washed I put the "older stock" to the front of the container and put the fresh laundered socks and panties to the back and that way every thing gets used equally.

Hi! I have been introduced to your channel by Katy’s favorite recipes! I’m happy to be a new subscriber to your channel. Excited to watch more of your videos!
I have eased up on frugality.. In the past few years I only ate add a restaurant or a fast food place once a year... This year I joined a friend for lunch at least once a month..
My financial goal is to get moved from my current house into a smaller house that I was able to pay cash for. Having some minor repairs done there now. ❤
I want to go there this week to check it out. It's on the other side of town. My husband does the shopping and refuses to drive that far, so I'm going.
Thank you so much for recommending my channel!!! I truly do appreciate that ❤ My family has been watching your videos as well and we love them! You have a great channel! Thank you!!
This Summer has been the most expensive ever for me. But, thankfully I have an emergency fund that has been able to handle it. I keep building on it. I tell anyone who will listen to put whatever you can aside for what life throws at us. 🥰🍃🍂🍁💗✝
We don't have a strict budget anymore, but I am mindful of what I'm buying more so than before. But if something comes up that is important thankfully we have enough saved for those situations. My main issue is me wanting to get rid of things and my husband always researching something to buy. I'd rather put that money towards savings or towards upcoming home repairs that are probably not that far into the future. Like a roof/deck/flooring/furnace and maybe a cental air unit. Our house is getting to that age when those things start to wear out.
I'm cooking from the pantry/freezer this week to use up some things and make space, so skipping the usual grocery store run and will put that money into savings, instead! I try to do a no spend week every couple of months and feel like I'm accomplishing a goal every time. It's a good feeling when it happens :)
I am making soups now getting ready for Winter to help my budget. I am buying less meat currently and my husband and I are enjoying having soup and salads more often during the week. As holidays are approaching, I will fix my husband a steak and baked potato for Thanksgiving dinner and at Christmas! He doesn’t really like Turkey. So i stopped buying Turkey in 2020. This is our new tradition. I am vegetarian. Also we stopped buying friends presents and no longer mail gifts to relatives. Gift cards sent by email or text means no postage sent. They pick out what they need or want. I cook and freeze meals and use my freezer as a means of weekly shopping. Meaning: if a Neal is already fixed, we know my cooking is better and more healthy than takeout foods. Since 2020, I have invested in better fresh spices from a local store. Meals are much better with fresh ground spices! A great show!! Stalwart
I had/have a trio of unexpected medical issues arise, and I am deeply grateful for good insurance. It is wonderful to be able to see a doctor, instead of staying home and "hoping" it is nothing serious. Blessed!
I am preparing for winter. I have hired a man to rake leaves and for snow removal for the season..furnace filters $70 each! on my new furnace..I brought the 39R insulation in from the garage that I use to cover all but my east windows...

We're struggling to make decisions on end of life paper work too. We don't really feel we have a good option for the different parts so we'll probably look for a firm to do it but also don't really feel safe with that either?
I'm paying off a long deserved UK trip scheduled next year as a gift to myself for retiring , 35 years as a child welfare social worker. So I keep reminding myself, do I want immediate gratification buying something now or have the trip next year. Keeps me on track.. I chose to hold off and have fun next year.
Wow. I live in the UK. So excited you are going to visit. I have just come back from the States. We had a holiday with friends in Conn. I hope you love our country. There is so much to see and do. The history of places will blow your mind! Enjoy!
66 in january so will be receiving state pension. Trying to save £10000 to have as a safety net then keep saving £100 per month for justincase. Got about £6000 now. I know, i should have done this years ago but better late than never i suppose. Dont need mega money, so long as i can go abroad once a year, treat my grandkids sometimes, eat nice food and have some fun days out what more do i want. Oh and yes definitely love wide straps for bras, feel more secure ❤
I budget but have 'savings' accounts for the majority of the unexpected items mentioned in the comments. Cars, for example, do not have unexpected expenditure. Some years ago I needed a new transmission - wow!. I now save each month for my car taxes, service, insurance and then an amount for large items. Similarly medical, dental, vet etc. As I am on a fixed income there is no other way to keep out of debt.
I try to get close to $100 a week at Aldis and $25 a week at the grocery store near me that has the super sales on items that are close to their date. If I'm over or short a week, I don't sweat it. It seems to balance itself out. Like one week, I'll spend $90 and the next week $110. Don't feel bad about 50 cents over Dawn! You had money left over in other envelopes. 😊❤

Hi Dawn! I just subscribed to Katy’s channel and left her a comment that you sent me over. I love how you support other channels by recommending them in your videos.
We're really trying to cut groceries, and we thought we did really good this week, however we split up our ground beef in foil about a month ago, then put in zip lock then freeze it.long story short 2 and a half pounds went bad. Our freezer is fine, so can't see why it went bad. Unfortunately we wrapped, so no price or bar code or where we purchased it. We will save receipts from now on. Have a wonderful day everyone 🌹
Someone turned me on to. Google "2 recipe ingredients "... Or just type in a list of a few items that I I have in my pantry and a wonderful recipe will be brought to my attention on Google.
Thank you for sharing. Using words like "condolences " doesn't cover my heartfelt sadness for you.. and understanding that reprioritizing is a challenge.. I'm glad that you have this site to refer to for ideas and continual support.
10P last night, I heard the toilet running. Looked it up on UA-cam, bought a > $10 gasket, which I am picking up today (thank you UA-camj!!), and will change it myself in less than 5 min. * In the meantime, I turned off the water at the wall. I'm sure I saved many gallons of water. * It is good to take the time a few times a year, to turn off and turn back on ALL faucets in your house - behind the toilets, under the sinks, and for the Washing machine, and ice machine if you have one. Last year I had trouble getting some to move at all - they seemed "frozen" open. This is not a good thing, and I didn't want to have a plumber come out. I used a little WD40 Blaster (a drop or two), right where the handle is attached, and they all began working after a few minutes and have stayed working since, because I test them at least four times a year (lesson learned!).
Those UA-cam videos on how to fix things are great. I recently did a free fix on my toilet value, based on information on UA-cam. Worked like a charm and so far so good!
I've used videos on several fixes, including rewiring a lamp to repair the on and off switch. I was so proud of myself, lol. I probably could've figured it out eventually, but videos help so much.

Hello 👋 Dawn! Please don't worry about 50 cents over! A lot of people would be glad that was all ! Our grocery and sundries budget is 400 pounds a month with a £50 float! Just to cover any special offers that are to good to miss !

They need to invent under wires that won't pop out & poke u all day! Then I try to mend them & they still pop out! So I get frustrated & just pull it out. 😅
Right now i also have a couple medical bills to pay, i need to save for my trip to the dentist in dec. Im spending today after working 2 12s breaking down quail for meals, reseasoned my cast iron pan, roast some poblanos, pulled what was the last thing in the garden beets making harvard beets cleaning rotating some stock items and i need to do some bookwork (financial) tomorrow we take our steer in to be butchered so im cleaning out one upright freezer it will be a few weeks before we get it back, we sold one. I live near and work and shop in springfield ohio...everyone is tense here. We need lots of prayers. ❤
Is Springfield a sanctuary city? It would be really hard to absorb such a huge number of immigrants (legal or non-legal) into a community roughly twice the size as the number of new people…who probably aren’t able to communicate with residents.
Not sure if you have a Walgreens there they have the best sales toilet paper and paper towels 3.75 per twelve pack it's Scott brand plus laundry detergent this week has four arm and hammer laundry detergent 4/10.00 give them a try
I had to laugh at your bra review. I hate skinny straps, too. I don't have a clue about our budget right now. Our grocery budget is shot as we have another person living with us, and she has very specific demands. I may have specific demands if I live to be 93, too. I think things will settle down by next month, and we'll have a better idea about how much to budget. I'm with you about the dentist and getting my eyes checked. I don't know why I dread it so much. Great video! Love to all, Linda 💕
Lots of expenses this month, hosp. bed rental for 2 months knee replacement yard work weed removal trimming etc $400., tall pine tree coming down tomorrow , $1000.00 it's half dead and do not want it to fall on my house this winter .lastly a super huge wasp nest on my second story of house. Biggest that I've seen my whole life. This is costing $340. I can't seem to get a break!! 🙄😣😕
Went on vacation last week. Spending was kept in budget for the most part. Made a bit of a mistake in going to a mead tasting. Then wound up buying a bottle for us for Christmas day. That's not the mistake. I haven't actually made the purchase yet but am seriously thinking about making mead at home. Why? Because learning about it's history was incredibly interesting, and it doesn't look difficult. The equipment isn't really that expensive either. Large quantities of honey.... that's what I'm trying to wrap my head around.
I feel ya... My girls had dental visits this year. We pay out-of-pocket, no insurance. One daughter had an unusual shaped molar, and 3 out of the 4 had a deep crevice with a cavity which the Dentist said was due to the tooth shape. For each girl to have a cleaning, exam and x-rays totaled $600 Plus 800 more for the 3 cavities.. Yea, they always want to schedule you for every 6 months but who has that kind of cash on hand for dental work? My adult son calls it a money making scheme.
I know! Dental care is so expensive, even with insurance. Our younger son had braces forever, it seemed. I felt so sorry for him when he went to have them adjusted. My toes are curling just thinking about it.
This time of year is difficult for me and because I knew prices for food and other things are through the roof I started early and saved $300 toward my summer property taxes which were about $850. That was paid this month and now my last Soc. Security is really low so I have decided to be very careful with spending. My next big bill will be in November with car insurance which I pay for the whole year. I have some money put away for that but not enough for the entire bill and then in December we are hit with another property tax--it just seems like you can't win with these high prices but I am determined to make it through the year. So far I have not had to take money out of my emergency fund.
I am bracing myself. If the Federal Reserve drops the interest rate the negative thing will probably be that I will earn less money on my savings. A lower interest rate find how people who are buying a house or a car.. It's not going to help my savings interest earnings.
We’ve had so many medical expenses this year and the last half of last year. Just crazy.. we’ve still been able to save but probably only 1/2 what we had hoped.
Don’t sweat the small stuff Dawn. .50 cents is nothing … unless you’re bidding on the price is right. Lol I like wider straps too. More comfy. I’m a 36 D and I need good support but hate wires and skinny straps ! Haven’t really budgeted for food… mainly because we buy so many of the same things every month so I’m always just about $10 over/under. So, I don’t keep track of food anymore. We’ve got that down pat.
We are struggling now as husband is undergoing eye surgeries. We have to travel. Cost $200 a day, hotel, food etc. We get a reprieve in October. Hoping to get caught up before Christmas.
My budget is blown, property tax, medical bills, vet bills, pool supplies. I didn't expect the additional medical bill, so I'm over budget. Saved up for everything else except for that one bill which I expected to come up next year, ah well it neccessary, I have no out on this one.😤 50cents over budget is nothing!
Ah yes, taxes. Just had to pay my September estimated income taxes for 2024 and fingers crossed I don’t have to pay any extra for 2023 when my accountant finishes those. I’m also on pins and needles waiting for my yearly car and house insurance statements and then there’s property tax on the horizon. I always hate the end of the year .
When I am trying to balance a couple rows of numbers, such as when one balances a checkbook, if I can’t reconcile the amounts (after I recheck the numbers) I put a brightly colored post-a-note with all the information and I LET IT GO….kiss it goodbye. Adios.
Good for you! I would spend hours trying to track down any little mistake in my balance. My husband balances the accounts now, and I think he just rounds it off, lol!
Janet Andrews hello from Virginia: You know one of me and my husband's financial goals is to pay off our home we have approx.: 3 years left what's kind of scary is I'm 67 and he's 72 he still works I retired 3 years ago we have a good income yet all the money is going into paying down the mortgage which limits what we put in savings excluding we always have taxes to pay. We've been following Dave Ramsey 7 baby steps and yet it feels like sometimes were just on a treadmill. the mortgage is going down but slowly and we are still getting older. Honestly, we have a lot of equity but not cash in hand if you know what I mean. Plus, you were fortunate to buy and pay your home off when you were younger. What about your daughter is she looking to buy a home once she gets married or just rent?
Janet Andrews hello from Virginia: Dawn, you said you were getting a will together possibly a living trust. You mentioned in several videos that you make approx.:$40,000 a year do you have life insurance I only ask because if you die before your husband how will he sustain his standard of living paying the bills , taxes on home homeowners insurance , electric bills emergency fund for emergency you usually just talk about how you are doing it but how would he manage ?
I recently had set myself a limit of what im able to buy in caregories A sugar free iced lattee before work. People might think this is wasteful, but it's not starbucks. It's a local business that employs people in my community. Also, the business doantes to people who suffer from MS. My late father had MS and I saw first hand what an awful disease it is. So, its a business I want to support for both my community and in honor of my late father. Reasoable foods. No junk food or sodas. Water, sugar free gaterade (I often have to work outside for my job and I live in Alabama, so Gatorade helps, hot teas, and milks. I do my best to try to only buy food that has a health benefit or an ingrident in a larger meal I'm making. Plus I always shop at Aldi unless I can't find a certain item there. Refills of hygiene/toiletrie items like body wash, shampoo skin care products sunscreens, floss, deodrants, and toothpaste. Stuff like that Empties of cleaning products. I tend to go through these fast because I'm a clean freak and I fear a bug infestation and i cant afford a spray. Mm
Another goal is to not buy entertainment items. I have so many books, games, and coloring books and coloring utensils that i hve collected over many, many years. I have enough to last me a while, and reading, coloring, and gaming are my main hobbies. So, until I use all of them up I won't buy anymore. Though admittedly, I'll probably have to eventually buy more colored pencils and markers, but I think I've hoarded enough so that will be a while. Also, my only entertainment subscription is kindle unlimited. I have no music or any streaming services. I have never been a big tv or movie person. And I have all my favoirte films on DVD. So, no need for that. And I listen to audibook I get free from my library app on my phone over music. I also plan on starting to exercise regularly to save money because I've learned 30 minutes of exercise a day can save you up to 2,500 dollars on medical bills. And that's not chump change to me. That's more than what I earn in a month. So, yeah, use uo all my entertainment items before buying anything new and exercise are my goals

They can even help you get a job after retirement.
Wow! That's good to know.
Thank you so much for the advice. I appreciate you
I know how Hard it is to find good bras in the size you need these companies need to think of other people not just the small people
They need to invent under wires that won't pop out & poke u all day! Then I try to mend them & they still pop out! So I get frustrated & just pull it out. 😅
I agree
Been following the news reports. I hear you. Sending positive energy in that direction as folks work thru the issues of living in Community.
Is Springfield a sanctuary city?
It would be really hard to absorb such a huge number of immigrants (legal or non-legal) into a community roughly twice the size as the number of new people…who probably aren’t able to communicate with residents.
@@marilynpeppers1356 yes several years ago, that is why its so important to vote on every level
You are so understanding.
Good grief! When it rains, it pours! Good luck with your knee replacement surgery.
I can so relate
Ouch on the knee replacement!! Do you have any tips on how to recover from so many financial drains?
Always planning, and saving a lot over the years, investing wisely... You can do it! I'm a retired single woman.
How fun!
For the month of September, so far so good. I just keep saving up money the best I can to pay taxes this month for school tax ❤️
Good for you!
@@3TXSisters Thank you. 🙏

Sometimes these dentist like to dig for cavities
@@bwillsboys Oh yes, always get a second opinion. My husband was told he had a cavity and the next dentist said he didn't. Interesting for sure!
@@bwillsboys I believe that!
It sounds like you are really planning
I am bracing myself. If the Federal Reserve drops the interest rate the negative thing will probably be that I will earn less money on my savings. A lower interest rate find how people who are buying a house or a car.. It's not going to help my savings interest earnings.
We’ve had so many medical expenses this year and the last half of last year. Just crazy.. we’ve still been able to save but probably only 1/2 what we had hoped.
I know how stressful that can be
Don’t sweat the small stuff Dawn. .50 cents is nothing … unless you’re bidding on the price is right. Lol
I like wider straps too. More comfy. I’m a 36 D and I need good support but hate wires and skinny straps !
Haven’t really budgeted for food… mainly because we buy so many of the same things every month so I’m always just about $10 over/under. So, I don’t keep track of food anymore. We’ve got that down pat.
You are doing great
That's great!
We are struggling now as husband is undergoing eye surgeries. We have to travel. Cost $200 a day, hotel, food etc. We get a reprieve in October. Hoping to get caught up before Christmas.
Best wishes

I love Danielle Steal! Do you know if she has anything in giant print?
That is a great question. You could check with your local library
If you use a tablet with your Libby app, you can adjust the font and size.
@@3TXSisters I don't have a tablet but thank you for the advice
My budget is blown, property tax, medical bills, vet bills, pool supplies. I didn't expect the additional medical bill, so I'm over budget. Saved up for everything else except for that one bill which I expected to come up next year, ah well it neccessary, I have no out on this one.😤 50cents over budget is nothing!
Sorry about your unexpected medical expense. Hope you're okay.
Best wishes
When I am trying to balance a couple rows of numbers, such as when one balances a checkbook, if I can’t reconcile the amounts (after I recheck the numbers) I put a brightly colored post-a-note with all the information and I LET IT GO….kiss it goodbye. Adios.
Good for you! I would spend hours trying to track down any little mistake in my balance. My husband balances the accounts now, and I think he just rounds it off, lol!

LOL. 😁💜
Love Danielle Steele books!
Caroline will be getting married soon
Is the book Joy or Pure Joy ? I found the 2nd one on Libby but not Joy??
Joy by Danielle Steele
Lynn here I did worse than you Dawn I went35.00 $ over 😳🙁 on groceries !! It was because I forgot my list ONE TIME ..
Yes , we have a will and life insurance
I need to imunise female cat then the male cat update and legalise my will Christmas down size get curtains trying to cut from griceri3s
Good luck!
I recently had set myself a limit of what im able to buy in caregories
A sugar free iced lattee before work.
Stuff like that
Empties of cleaning products.
