A little disappointed I didn't get to see an actual lemon to a knife fight, but gotta say that The Wombats have the best story telling music videos around.
Okay hear me out. I've been watching this video for the past like 5 hours (no seriously. that's not an exaggeration.) and I've noticed things each time. First, the guy's necklace. It's a wolf. It could be a coincidence if you don't think about it, but after you've watched the video it kind of changes the meaning. The necklace could have been anything. A bear, a shark, hell, a wombat. But it was a wolf. A few seconds after we see the necklace the guy looks at his watch and glances out the window at the moon. Foreshadowing? Whatever he's heading towards has a time frame that needs to be met. When the car pulls up to a small field there's a group of people waiting, suggesting this kidnapping thing was pre-planned. She's untied and told to run, given a head start. I highly doubt this is the first time these people have done something like this. After she's a little far off they get into position and line up their shotguns, and wait for the signal. The signal, as far as we know, is when the clouds have completely moved from the full moon, giving them the best visibility. But I don't think it was just about their visibility. I think these people kidnap people they know to be werewolves and hunt them for sport. They have to do it on cloudy full moons, when the werewolf is suppressed. When the clouds move from in front of the moon there's a split second during the transition for the hunters to shoot where the person they're hunting isn't human (so it isn't like, straight up murder) but isn't an indestructible werewolf. What happened that night? I think they waited too long. I think the guy who gave the order had impaired judgement. I don't know how much he drank on the way there but that's my best guess. It's a shitty one but it's the only one I've got. Something else I noticed, but I could be missing stuff. She only kills the guys? Like.... seriously. I've rewatched just that part over and over and it's just the guys being dismembered and slaughtered to fucking bits. If anyone wants to analyze that. Okay that's all I have, if you've actually read everything you're a true saint and you deserve all the sweets and good luck because that was a train wreck.

This song was inspired by one of those heated arguments he had with her while driving home one night on a country road and "lemon to a knife fight" is a reference to his inability to win any argument with his wife. And as for the video, the werewolf represents his vicious wife I guess and the lyrics make much more sense after knowing the context.
