The Visual Aesthetic of Dario Argento's Suspiria
Вставка

- Legendary Italian horror director Dario Argento's most famous film is 1977's Suspiria, an iconic piece of semi-surreal art starring Jessica Harper as a ballet student investigating a mysterious German dance academy. From the score by Goblin to the unforgettable cinematography, it's one of the most influential and beloved thrillers of all time. Perhaps the standout element is the use of bold and starkly contrasting color, which seems to ooze through the screen. In this video essay, we break down the color schemes in some of the film's best scenes. Supsiria turns 40 this year, and the film was recently restored in 4K for anniversary screenings around the world. (There's also a remake in production starring Dakota Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Tilda Swinton.) Take a look and celebrate one of the most beautiful and haunting horror films in cinema history.
Maybe the best horror film of all time
Not even close to be called one. It was a good movie not that very great.
Excellent video! Suspiria has one of the best film soundtracks of all time, and of course is a horror classic.
Why is Suspira so beautiful and intriguing?
a masterpiece.
Fantastic movie with beautiful music
Some shots were modificated a little bit in this video. The color saturation has been modified.
Also Argento did not achieve these colors with filters in their cameras, but using a very low ASA in the film.
This is great!!!!
he put color filters over the lights and used a very old and extinct process called the three-strip color process and also the 3-color dye process, both are no longer in use.
Movie with art
Fun movie
Very Thanks!

Colores!
I recently saw this film for the first time at the cinema. I watched the new 4k restoration version and the visuals are stunning. The colors are crisp and beautiful. and the music by Goblin is great. Too bad the movie sucks.
Adrian Mendoza your coment sucks ! Suspiria is a masterpiece
Adrian Mendoza Sucks? I'm Italian , and Suspiria is the best horror italian film in the all the world! Dario Argento is number one thriller and horror director , in all world!
You've said it all. It is beautyful to watch - caught it 2 times on TV - and loved it but only because of the imagery. I think it rocked in the seventies because people were a bit kookie. BTW, I love horror movies but I cannot think of it as a horror movie!!?
I prefer Jess Franco's films & music scores (Vampyros Lesbos, Venus in Furs, Eugenie de Sade, The Devil came from Akasava, 99 Women etc). Sexy as hell and awesome soundtracks.
