one of the last artists in a hyper commercialized medium and he says it at like 9:00 where he admits to "shooing away" a record deal meeting in favor of "getting props from people I also respected." out of everything you could paint positively about the dude this right here is what inspires me the most. He's done it all for the sake of facilitating a shared experience & not hoarding for personal gain he's showing you can still have an artist mentality in this thing and make it work.
I got into Aes when I was in school just before The Impossible Kid came out and it's such a privilege to have so much amazing music to go back through. To this day my favourite artist who ever lived

I’ve seen people mentioned this before but I doubt it’s the case. If that were the case Star Destroyers would be dissing ace and there is no reason to assume that is the case. I believe the lyrics is simply meant to indicate that a lot of rappers of that time came out with a big hit but couldn’t make a real career out of it, you still see this today. It also plays obviously on the extended metaphor of the song being stars to rappers.

Man this guy explaining that he didn’t pay attention to a deal is the icing of it all. I knew just with out him saying it for years that he enjoys doing him and him only and having no one fuck with his creative space from just keeping up with what he’s been putting out and seeing some of his interviews. Him making this work in his own station of his room really shows the work he put into it and the fact that whole project had no mixing done to it, I’m like really surprised because I thought it did. Out of the years of listening to this guy and hearing this ep here and there is amazing in how it sounds. Not to mention him explaining his equipment set up is really something to note because it shows you how put this together. Like other Artists around that time they used machines. And as easy as they made it sound it wasn’t at all. It shows how easy us artists with a daw and a computer today really have it. And even then we still don’t understand the gist what we’re doing because it’s so much that goes in depth. I really appreciate for him being him and the work in his craft that he’s been producing for soo long. Like really amazing all the work that went into this. Much love to this man.
