    Hey Mike.. A productive day Sir. I'm always happy to paint over the factory paint, it's a perfect base coat, the very fact it's so hard to get off proves that, just throw some 2k sealer over it and you're good to go ! Good luck with the project, ill be following it all the way. Take care and stay safe. Del.

    Hi Mike, was watching your old videos when you first painted the bike green. Why did you do it again was the finish degrading or did you just want to change color?

    • @TechnMoto
      @TechnMoto  2 роки тому +2

      I decided to black out the bike and then got to thinking maybe I should change the color too. I like the green so for now I have no idea what color to go with next. I was thinking a candy apple green or red but I may pass on those due to the complexity of applying those paints and the price. After all I am a novice at best when it comes to painting. Learn as you go is my motto- lol. The original paint job I did with spray cans was holding up very nicely and better than I could have imagined. Of course its not as good as a professional paint job but pretty close. Everyone who has seen the bike in person has given me props on a job well done even if they don't like the green. I know most dudes are not fans of green, never mind neon green but I love it. I'll let every one know what I decide on as soon as I can make up my mind- lol

      @@TechnMoto good luck and thanks for the reply. If you could estimate about how many cans of primer, paint and spraymax clear did you use. Also how long a period of time did you let it dry between the paint and the clear coat?

    • @TechnMoto
      @TechnMoto  2 роки тому +1

      I estimated one can per item painted. Really depends on the coats applied. Since I did that original paint outside I sanded between coats cause stuff would get on the paint. I think I gave it about 1 week before sanding. If you have an area that is protected you could spray the paint and clear in one day. Just need to wait like 15 minutes usually for each coat to flash off before applying the next coat. I would recommend doing a search on UA-cam for more info on painting. A lot of good vids on here.

    Good video, you're right patience for projects like this is a virtue. It's what separates the enthusiast from the hacks! I like an ultrasonic cleaner for delicate/intricate parts like the script badges. Good job😁👍!

      If I owned one that would be great, ha ha ha ha. Still on the fence on whether or not I am going to paint the script badge black- things that make me go hmmm lol hey thanks for dropping in. I appreciate the support.

    Hi. Just wondering what glue that was. Must be good because you trust it with the wires. Thanks.

    Hey Mike, I’ll be going through all your past and current videos for painting. I’m seriously thinking about doing my Electra Glide this year. She’s in need of a little makeup and lipstick (cosmetically speaking)

      On a serious note- if you decide to do this on your own, understand it is a rather large project and can be overwhelming but for some weird reason I think you may already know this. Take care and let me know when you do it so I can follow along.

      @@TechnMoto ….actually Mike, I may do something like this: ua-cam.com/video/DlsErJJkqz8/v-deo.html
      I have lots of experience using this product. It would be much easier. I will replace my inner fairing with a gloss black one though. Two of the windshield mounts are broken. I have repaired them but the plastic is marginal………Thoughts?

    • @TechnMoto
      @TechnMoto  2 роки тому +2

      That’s different. I kinda like it but to be truthful not my cup of tea. Then again people say that about my neon green 😂. As far as the bolt sockets I have used epoxy on them in the past but it doesn’t seem to hold long term. I would probably replace the entire piece if I liked the bike and was going to keep it. 😂👍

    • @wingandhog
      @wingandhog 2 роки тому +1

      @@TechnMoto …, right! My last go around with the inner fairing bolts were with epoxy and it was iffy at best. They are holding for now but since I will be doing a tear down, I might as well replace totally. As far as the bed liner, you either love it or hate it. I like it from a low maintenance standpoint. If I paint it will be with a denim look anyway. I’m tired of polishing. And the current Vivid Black is impossible to keep clean more than an hour. I certainly wouldn’t go with the color in that video, maybe gray but I am just exploring options right now. The GoldWing takes enough of the polishing overhead for the rest of my life. 😳
