  • More work at the action and the dampers, we’re getting somewhere with this instrument. Soon it will play! All the original parts like silk, cloth and leather which cannot be used again, are carefully documented.
    A missing brass decoration/hook is being copied from the the one which was still there.
    Since 2019 the Carl Bechstein Foundation in Berlin is building up a collection of historical keyboard instruments, reflecting the history of the piano. All instruments will be in perfect playing condition and in this film-series you'll see the whole proces of a restoration, starting from a total wreck. This fortepiano was built around 1795 in Vienna by Ferdinand Hofmann (1756-1829).
    From this restoration film series are two versions, one with a German voice-over and this one with an English voice-over.
