I'm very thankful for this lecture...... I never miss to learn more about the Most Precious Master, Guru Padmasambhava. I get to learn something new about Guru Rinpoche from Tuanhuang literature. I went to this Peace Park in Nepal, the Guru Statue is so Magnificent, Beautiful and Blessing. I love pilgrimage.... went to India and Nepal. Hope can make it to Samye and Chimpu some time soon. Namo Guru 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐💐💐💐💐📿📿📿📿📿📿📿☸️🪷💎❤️
One Bönpo view is he was the son of a Bön siddha, Drenpa Namkha, placed upon a lotus to be found as a miraculous child, he saved many Bön teachings by converting them and incorporating them into Buddhist teachings. Thus preserving the ancient teachings of the first Buddha. Very interesting lecture. The Rubin museum lectures, on UA-cam, mention he has no historical substance in court records of the period he is said to have been in Tibet. It seems ironic that Chinese money was instrumental in building the new statue at Boudanath.
I found that segment of the Ruben lectures on Padmasambhava quite perplexing, it was as if they were attempting to paint the entire phenomena as a product of colonialism versus an attempt at salvaging lost traditions of the Bönpo.
