One day in Etyek | The famous Gastro Promenade and further sights on water and on horseback!

Etyek is a small wine village near Budapest, which is famous for the Etyek Picnic. But visiting it out of festival season, we find a really nice and calm place, and where we can find a lake and more sights in the hills and valleys. The famous Gastro Promenade went through some changes in the last years, and this is the location of the popular Etyek Picnic four times a year. But in such a calm period it shows us a different face, inviting us for a nice wine county walk.
Besides the old houses we can find some bigger event locations here, which ones are really popular in wedding season. But despite modernization the unique old buildings dominate the street view, with vine gardens up on the hills and with a valley down there with further sights waiting for us.
The fishing pound is right under the vine hills. This land is really unique, as looking around from the hills we cannot see the water surface of the lake, but the cellars and the promenade are also not visible from down, by the lakeside. But and after the half-day sightseeing it’s really nice to have a break on a calm pier in the middle of the lake.
And even if we don't have a boat, we can still ride the horses to discover this nice land with hills and valleys. And during a light afternoon horse trip we can ride around on the streets of Etyek and the vine hills with forests and fields. Besides it’s way faster than walking, we can see everything in a very different perspective.
And then we can drink some wine at the cellars to have a rest after this tiring afternoon.
