Thanks for the overview mate, I create maps and vehicles for sim racing and feel like this has some genuine applications to create assets. Will shout myself that new 360 camera I think!

thank you for these instructions but is it possible to do this in the forest

It depends on how dense the forest is, as you need to walk around while scanning everything precisely. Additionally, you should avoid scratching the lenses.
If there are very tall trees, you won’t be able to capture the canopy. However, if you’re focusing on the ground, it will work just like anywhere else.

    Thank you.
How can we get more details in for example the trees/leaves?
And can we add data later? From for example drone photos?

You can move a bit closer while maintaining arm-length distance or even take a 3-second pause. If you don't want to miss the top of the tree, you can keep the camera at a higher position. However, your trees and plants won't be realistically detailed. I believe the resolution is mostly optimized for buildings, spaces, and the built environment.
I didn't mention it in the video, but when it comes to drone shots, VistaPoint is compatible with Insta360 Sphere, so you can also capture drone footage with it. However, in VistaPoint, you can't add further elements. It will only handle the model from your scanning video. All modifications and additional edits need to be done in 3D editor programs or architectural software that can handle OBJ files.

@@GabaVR Why is the One X not supported? My X2 is out for repair...

I guess the software needs GPS metadata to create the virtual model based on the timelapse video. I'm not entirely sure, but as I recall, the One X doesn’t have that function. I'll try to connect it with one of my Insta360 GPS remotes and check it out.
Theoretically, it should work even if I shoot without the VistaCapture app, if I use the same parameters it sets up. Then, I could try uploading that video to the cloud.
I already tried this method with my X4, too, but due to the in-camera stitching, it didn’t work-the app requires two insv files, and the X4 creates only one.

@@GabaVR Ok I'll try it without the app.

@@GabaVR I tried it today with my One X, direct upload to the site without app. Doesn't work. Error AGT5102 unsupported device.
Too bad. Tomorrow my X2 will be back.
