  • @EdsterIII

I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I was born in Cudahy, we then moved to Franklin, and then we moved to a small section of Milwaukee that was in Greenfield. My Dad lived Downtown for a brief time. After the first time he and my Mom were divorced. The Second time he got an apartment right behind ours. After that he moved to Greendale. For over 35 years I lived in Milwaukee and I loved it, especially during the 70's. The 41-Twin Drive-in was located on South 27th Street in Franklin, a few miles south of where we lived. I worked at the Tri-City Grocery store. First as a cart pusher and a bottle sorter. Back then there were 8-packs of bottled soda that you'd return for money. We used to take our bikes or ride the bus to Wilson Park on 27th and Howard Avenue. They had a epic 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️Swimming🏊‍♀️Pool🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️. They also had a really nice 🎣🐟fishing🎣pond🐠🎣 which they would actually stock with fish. They also had a really nice Ice ⛸⛸Ice⛸⛸Skating⛸⛸Rink⛸⛸. We had Southridge Mall, a really great place to hang out, shop, have fun. So many memories of some really great places and times. I didn't even mention going to Milwaukee County Stadium for Milwaukee Brewers and the occasional Green Bay Packers games. So much fun, so many wonderful childhood memories. Sadly most the those places are gone, torn down, or abandoned. Sad, just sad.

True. The upper midwest has some of the largest seasonal temperature swings of anywhere. common to see a low of -20F in the winter, and 105F in the summer (with humidity). That's a 125-degree difference.

      Funny thing.
We used to see huge swarms of starlings flying around the city and filling the trees and power wires.
We do not see them in the last number of years.
Birds eat bugs. Correct? There are few if any mosquitos, there are few Flys, referring to flying insects only.
Several years ago the city was warning of mosquito spreading Zika Virus.
I am a polymer chemist, not an entomologist, but our first clue regarding the eradication of flying insects was noticing we have no bugs on our windshields doing 80 mph down the vast freeway system, reportedly the largest in the world.
I haven't called Vector Control but I'm not exaggerating in the slightest,we live near the top of a 40 story high rise and we see few if any bugs anymore.
If we have no bugs, we have few birds anymore.
Some idiots will probably blame this phenomenon on global warming.

I don’t get why people are so bothered by the UEG exercising dominion over its own colonies. I think the word colony immediately brings up memories of European Colonization, but that’s not what the UEG is. Each planet is more like a U.S. state than a British colony. Each planet get to elect their own governors and their own senators. My point is, I don’t understand why it’s such a strange concept that a government would want to govern it’s own people. You might take issues with how they govern, but the UEG is a colonial empire made up of humans. Earth did not go through a brutal and devastating Civil War to establish a unified government just for people a few hundred years later to decide that they don’t like pulling their fair share.
