Everything about this video is first class. Before watching, I knew nothing about Marco Simone. Now, I'm eagerly anticipating the Ryder Cup. Thank you Golf Digest.
Golf courses don't have to be long to be difficult or challenging, but the mix up of both short par 4's and 5's with their opposite number helps to provide that risk and reward on both. This becoming a spectacle for the viewing public and amatuer golfers. I think this event being delayed has added a more mature course settled as if its been like it is for decades. Many thanks to Iona for the well presented video and all the persons involved in making this course as it will be very soon a gem of a tournament course.
Super video. Fantastic narration by Iona as only she could do. Looks like a great course. I live here in Italy and quite frankly the courses here are not great. But this one looks like a real challange for the best golfers in the world. Look forward to watching the Ryder Cup for sure.
Imagine having a guy at your possible disposal who has won around here in the very near past.....and is still very much in form....and then not taking him......truth really is stranger than fiction
That lake between 8 and 9 looks like it has been there for hundreds of years. I can picture da Vinci, Michelangelo, and friends playing a spirited game of Marco Polo in the summer of 1497. This would've been pre-fountain so nobody would've got tangled up with that which would be a problem today. Marco............Polo..............Marco.................Ahhhhhh!.....F#%^in' Fountain.......Polo.......
What do you suppose green fees are at this challenging beauty? I would love ❤️ to play it but Pebble Beach took 1 of my legs and an arm and Pinehurst required the other leg and arm, and The Kingsmill grabbed my family jewels so all I can offer them is what's left, a golf Mat.
Looks like a great course, but I don’t understand why they’d pick a place that had to be completely redesigned and rebuilt to be considered suitable to host a Ryder Cup. I’m sure to members and other locals it’s Marco Simone in name only now.
Great idea to put large text across the screen at the beginning of each hole description so we cannot see the hole and have to wait for it to fade out 🙄
Looks too open, some madly placed bunkers and not enough bushes/gorse to really screw everyone up.....doesnt look dangerous enough...i like the look of the 10th...that'll mess with a few golfers confidence.....should still be a great vibe there and i'm very happy for all the owners and management that have put huge effort into making it happen.....i just wish it was way more scarier

Hope they do a video on changes made & how they benefit European players & play to weaknesses of American team.
Beautiful course, beautiful countryside, beautiful voice over, beautifully written
Agreed - I could listen to her voice all day.........
EASY COURSE...

Narration by Iona was a real bonus to this presentation.
Golf Digest has absolutely crushed it with these videos. Great flyovers, nice strategy and history talk. Bravo!
spectacular doesn't describe it. Unreal surroundings.
Wonderfully written and presented!

GD are killing it with the content these days. Superb!
Please keep posting these… they give great insight into the courses the players play. You should also do some less known (but beautiful) courses.
BEST COURSE RECCIE IVE EVER SEEN, WELL DONE IONA! Do we think this is tougher than that French course?
Love Iona’s voice.

This might be the most pure course I’ve ever seen
Classy video GD 😊
Iona could be a replacement for Sir David on planet earth when he passes, Amazing Narrator. Course looks tough, should be a good Ryder Cup
I'll take Ian McShane any day.
For me it looks like a cross between Oak Hill and LACC, this will be a great Ryder Cup!
Course looks superb, thanks Iona for all your information on the course 👍🏻👍🏻
Iona is the best commentator
Beautiful!

16 ❤
The Italians have produced a real challenge. Cmon Europe.
That has to be the most difficult first hole I've ever seen. 😢

What I want to know is if the Castle is out of bounds? Do they serve alcohol?
me who looked it up yesterday and was disappointed that it didn't exist

Seeing this makes me think they really messed up not bringing Bryson..
WOW now that has wetted my appetite.... Please No " In the hole " Or "MashPotatoe" ..

That’s golf in general these days. The better the golfers the more they complain about penal challenges.
