- A step by step description and guide of our garage renovation with some stop motion video of the floor and wall installation. Hopefully some will find this helpful if they are considering the same garage organization project.
Fun, and helpful!
The bikes and tires are gone. Easier to look tidy if crap is gone. Is nice though.
5K'ish???????
Looks good!
That was quit an improvement. I would be inclined to finish the ceiling first an the floor last though.
I know you probably havent shown all the details here. Did you have to deal with any hurdles with electrical improperly ran beneath the joists, or insulating properly in ceiling joists that contain hvac?
I had a certified electrician do all of that work to code. Hope this helps
Thanks for giving us a timeframe. People don’t realize the hard work that goes into makeovers like these.
I find it easier to keep the garage organized if you don't have kids or a wife.
I find it easier if you don't have a husband and sons working on 4 wheelers, trucks, motorcycles, and all that man stuff.

Women just pile up crap. Men use a garage for utility.
Ha! My men have more crap than I do! LOL I have motorcycle parts for bikes we don't even own anymore. I have boxes and boxes of baseball cards in my attic! I have inherited tools no one ever uses. At least I go thru my stuff every year or so and purge. Men never do that. Everything is valuable, and has to stay!

Exactly. Women throw away valuable shit.
I have never thrown away anything of theirs without asking first. I guess it depends on the woman.
What garage paint did you use? Also, was the garage paint in a kit or sold separately?
I was looking forward to seeing the new garage door openers, but they weren’t shown. Looks great in the garage, though!
Thanks for the kind words Christopher. Here is a link if you'd like to learn more about these hidden openers: www.liftmaster.com/for-homes/garage-door-openers/battery-backup-garage-door-openers/model-8500
Looks great! Are the floors water resistant how about at the floor to wall transition would water hurt it. Point I'm getting at is could you wash your car inside now? Would be great for those cold months if so I'd be interested in looking into it
Thanks for your kind words! yes the side walls are also treated up to about a foot high, so it is waterproof. You might want to add a drain option if you are going to wash the car to get rid of the water.
Or just hook up your shop/wet vac where in the garage it slopes and let the vac clean up the mess!
That looks fantastic! Now I want to put up slat walls in my garage!
I will admit the music does sound like it belongs in GTA 4, however, great job
Fantastic!
Looks good. Where’s the the bikes though?
What happened to the big bikes?
I should have included them in the photo. One goes on the far right side next to the tall cabinet (the bike hangs on the wall). the other two fit along the wall on the right side now that everything is off the floor.
Nice. The makeover came out very clean and custom looking.
I'm curious, where did you get the slatwall from?
I got them through OnWall solutions
How much was the total cost of this? thx
Hi jochambe1 the cost was about $7k. Thanks for watching.
thanks.....looks AWESOME!!!
Looks fantastic. What brand of steel cabinets and shelves are those?
Thanks for the kind words Jim! the cabinets are from Costco.
very professional.
Thanks so much Graham! This looks awesome and I'm tempted to shell out the money to do something like this. Can you post some pics or modify the video to include the modifications you did to the lights and garage door opener (i.e. final pics of the finished product).
Sorry for the delay. The lights were the standard in ceiling GU10s and the garage door openers were these: www.liftmaster.com/for-homes/garage-door-openers/elite-series/model-8500 . Hope this helps!
Superb effort.
Hi ***** what floor epoxy did you use? how much was it? I really liked it!
Great Job!
Hi, it's actually Polyurea urethane which is quite a bit stronger than Epoxy. You can read a little about it here: Onwallsolutions.com. Hope this helps!
Graham Kingma Awesome I havent heard of those! Thanks!
Looks great! What brand are the slat walls?
The slatwall was purchased through Onwall Solutions and I believe they buy them from www.handisolutions.com. Thanks for your kind words!
Wow nice job brother!
Thank you MTLKEBEK!
Creepy music af
Who makes the Slat Wall product?
Bryan Marbuary I purchased it through Onwall Solutions in Canada and I believe they buy them from www.handisolutions.com/
Nice job
love it
#garagegoals it looks awesome!
Amazing.
great job.
How much all this cost?
I need all my walls in the house to be slat
Hang stuff on the ousside and presto! Clean garage!
Previously you had 4 bicycles... where did they all go? I can only see 1 left. It looks very nice though.
Jimmy H I should have included them in the photo. One goes on the far right side next to the tall cabinet (the bike hangs on the wall). the other two fit along the wall on the right side now that everything is off the floor. Thanks for the nice words Jimmy!
Hi there, I love this! I see in a previous comment that you said it cost about 7K. Just wondering if you can list the products you used? And also, did you have these things installed professionally? I am just wondering if I can do this myself... THX
+MissDrift2008 I had the floor and wall professionally installed. It is possible to do these yourself, however I wanted to make sure this lasted for a very long time and left it to the pros. Many people try a do it yourself floor kit that uses Epoxy for the floors. The material used here is Polyurea urethane which is quite a bit stronger than Epoxy. From what I have read, Epoxy peels quite quickly.
Floors: Polyurea urethane
Walls: Handi Solutions Slatwall (bought through Onwall Solutions)
Garage Door openers: Liftmaster 8500
I cannot recall the price breakdown, but the walls were most expensive followed by the floor.
hope this helps and thanks for the nice words.
Not realistic. Where did the other 4 bikes go? I guess I will wait till the kids move out before doint the makeover.
I replied to this from a much more positive comment and I will reply again. I should have included them in the photo. One goes on the far right side next to the tall cabinet (the bike hangs on the wall). the other two fit along the wall on the right side now that everything is off the floor. Thanks for watching and that was a fun drone video that you posted.
Anyone who does any actual work in their garage should never throw down the chips in the floor coating. Can you imagine dropping small screws and then trying to find them? Go with a medium solid color.
This is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING compared to my parents' garage. This is NOT extreme garage makeover compared to what we have to do to ours.
Davida Williams Pics/Vid or it didn’t happen!
Christopher Wilhelm I would love to supply pictures except UA-cam doesn't support it. Besides I SAID what has to be done to it, NOT what was done. When I tell you Chris my parents garage is an absolute M.E.S.S. that is not an overstatement...its an UNDERstatement. 😢
There’s really no reason to mention something like that here just for academic purpose. Without something to see and experience, its difficult at best to gain ideas or inspiration.
Christopher Wilhelm you didn't read my original comment properly. I don't understand what you are trying to say. I wasn't stating anything but my reaction! 😕
I understand completely and I believe you. It is not my intent to argue with you.
