This is so sad. I like to think of myself as an intermediate knitter (I started in third grade, and I’m a freshman in high school now). When I look for patterns, usually I like to find them in books or things like that, because I know that is legit. Unfortunately though, I often want to find cute plushies and things like that to create, but it’s so difficult to due to this issue. I’m honestly so fed up with this problem and don’t want human work to become robotic and lifeless.
It’s insanely frustrating, luckily there are still a ton of people making their own patterns to find. Finding the testers is probably the best for looking for patterns on social media! Books are a great alternative for wearables though, I didn’t even think about that!
The worst thing is that even books might not be safe for long. I'm willing to bet money that some of the results for crochet or knitting books on Amazon are probably already AI generated. I know for a fact that this has already happened for foraging guides (which, I don't think I need to explain, is going to get people killed.)
AI is so ridiculous and often it is not obvious to the naked eye. I often go by the rule if it is "too perfect" (stitch work, color, details) it is probably AI and I scroll by. But there are plenty of people who don't know that and are impressed by the looks of it and want to make the same and up with something that is far from what that image is. Thank you for posting this because the more genuine content creators get this out there, hopefully, more people will hopefully be saved from the scam.
I hate that this is even a problem we have to worry about 😢 my dream is to be a writer and all my hobbies are some kind of art so it’s like I can’t escape. It’s good to know I’m not alone, at least. Great video ❤
I buy Amigurumi from an Etsy seller who makes all her example patterns really good. So good that FB groups I'm in are claiming it's all ai but their Etsy site has an image gallery of all the buyers creations they made. People are saying they're ai!!!! They then say if you argue with them to "upload all images and instructions and let us make them to prove they're real!" And people are actually doing this!!! But yes I hate ai art
Loved your take on the situation. By the way, the music at the end of the video was very loud and scared me haha. Not a big deal, but just letting you know. I live Pinterest, but that app getting taken over by AI and it sucks. Really hope they do something about it, but I highly doubt they will.
Not only is it an issue of tech knowledge and knowing the signs, a lot of elderly people also just plainly cannot spot the signs whether they know how to or not. With deteriorating vision, for example, it's just not always possible, so even educating people about the signs (that are ever changing and frantically being improved upon by AI companies) probably wouldn't help a lot of people. Like, even if granny knows to look for actual stitches in the picture, if her vision doesn't allow for it and she can't zoom in, there's no way for her to tell even though she knows what she's looking for.
AI art is also horrible for disabled creators. I'm studying production art and a huge amount of production artists have been fired because people steal production artists' art (especially from art station) and use it to make slop. Part of what makes my art how it is is my experiences as a disabled person, particularly a woman lvl 2 ASD with and how it shapes how I see the world and process things. AI doesn't have these experiences and intent. It's hard enough getting a job when you're disabled without competing in an even fiercer market and also with robots. It's really disheartening. My work also takes longer to do than a non-disabled person because of my injuries and chronic migraines but I love what I do and it's like do I just give up my dreams of making a game? I don't want to, I really don't. But it's whittling down my spirit
This reminds me of a quote about AI ‘artists’ that was something like ‘why should I read or see something you couldn’t be bothered to make’. AI doesn’t have the experiences a person have and it’s simply not worth the negative impact it has on all aspects of the art world. I really hope you can find a way to work on your passions and express your unique experiences! All us real artists are here with you!
I flipping hate ai “art” (generated slop). I hate deviant art has used their users art to create their own generator. I hate I can’t post my art without it being stolen. Next time you post a photo of crochet to anywhere that uses its content for AI training, use those websites that put subtle fragmentation over it and it screws with ai and poisons the algorithm :)
Oh my god those AI minions are horrifying, worse than the real thing somehow

The poor grandmas ☹️‼️

Yeah I really hope adding another video to people fighting against AI can help even a little!

That sounds super frustrating! AI is just making people super suspicious and it’s hurting the pattern creators who are really good at it!
You are a perfect person, oh my gosh. You’re so sweet and kind. This is so wholesome and pure. ❤
Also! Another point is generative AI takes an insane amount of energy, it’s environmentally impactful and not in a good way
Yet another reason AI art is the worst

Yeah sorry I didn’t realize it was so loud comparably, thank you!!

It is so sad to see people asking for the pattern of AI content, it feels like they are scamed
It’s so frustrating!
Very informative video. Thank you!
The sound of the thank you at end of the video is a quite loud compared to the rest of the video btw
Yeah I think it’s the only audio I added in post haha, thanks!
I don't know why people are so obsessed with ai. Its NOT a good thing if someone can create something that you cant tell if its fake.
Ai is horrible

@CloveCrochetsthank you that made me smile after a hard day where I hurt my wrist badly getting an assignment done ;_;

I didn’t even think about those, thanks!
You could use more interesting editing it Will make the viewers Way more encourged
