    That was a great suggestion you gave regarding getting a full blowout assessment one quarter then a curly cut next quarter.
    I think I will implement that. I received a full blow assessment and cut off all the raggedy ends in Aug. I go for a curly cut/trim on Monday.

      I think this is definitely a good idea. When I decided to stop blow drying and straightening my hair I went to a stylist who learned how to do the kinky cuts. I got a kinky cut. It cost me almost a few hundred dollars. I ended up going back to my barber and letting her cut my hair for 35. Yes, the cost was concerning as I got my hair cut regularly. She has always blown out my hair and cut it into its shape. In my opinion the style just looked better with a proper cut. I felt better because I had a proper cut. One day, a few years later, I realized something was happening to my hair. It is possible that being iron deficient was a factor, but this is also after I stopped doing deep conditions, leave ins, and using oil. And maybe this is incorrect but I have always had healthy hair when at least once a month I soaked my hair in an oil and wore a cap over it a few hours. Every stylist I'd ever gone to always stated how healthy my hair was. So, I had a round of iron infusions, went back to deep conditioning at least once a month (along with the oil treatment once a month), and kept getting proper cuts. I stopped using the AG products but kept using the Innercense shampoo and conditioner. I also stopped using Uncle Funkys and began using strictly using the Doux products. My hair is finally almost back to normal. Now, I absolutely love both my barber and my stylist. Even when my stylist cut my hair in its curly state it still was pretty much a solid cut. My next visit I will have it blown out and cut with precision. Honestly, I doubt that its not already close to precision. I truly thought the process I learned from these ladies was on point. It was not. The biggest factor in following them was that I never wore my hair in its natural state. It was always pressed, or relaxed. And even when I stopped relaxing I always blew it out and used irons to curl. And still, my hair was healthy. I will say that these ladies helped me to wear my natural hair with confidence. I cannot take that away from them. However, their methods were not good for my hair. The thing was that the damage that was occurring was insidious. So even though my hair is almost back to normal, I am having my stylist take off about an inch or two every three month visit. I just want to have a whole new head of hair again. It will probably take me a year or two.

    She's a con artist like Benny Harlem, playing on people's insecurities. People were ready to pay thousands for pumpkin oil to grow their hair. Nowadays it's about ultra defined curls.
    Sis was really out there saying that smooth, shiny, pliable hair doesn't mean it's moisturized and hydrated.
    She wanted us to have rough, dull stiff hair like hers.

    Your client’s story and the curly cut stylists’ behavior is exactly the same type of ish that happened with me and other clients who received relaxers, silk presses, blowouts, haircuts or color. They screw up clients’ hair and blame the client. Or they otherwise deflect responsibility. Different hair services, same excuses. That’s why I don’t often have my hair done professionally. It’s really sad.

    2:06:21 - I'm so jealous of how your clients can go over 4 months or even up to a year with no trim and have very little issues. I'm wondering how I can achieve that because my hair starts to give me issues when detangling with my brush after 4 months no matter what. The splits and fairy knots start forming and they want to tangle up individual hairs . I do wash my hair weekly, which may be part of the issue, but I had it worse when I washed bi-weekly and monthly. or is that amount of time passing between trims something only certain people can achieve with little issue with tangling and knots

    • @MAHOGANYINPINK
      @MAHOGANYINPINK 9 місяців тому +5

      I’m thinking the products your using could play a role. Once I started using products with more/heavier occlusive I noticed I needed trims less and less often. So maybe you need more/heavier occlusives in your hair care routine. Also, most occlusives (at least that I know of) are also emollients which will help soften the hair strands aiding in reduced friction. So it could also be a lack of emollients in general or good emollients. Hopefully this helps you in the way it helped me. 🌸☺️

      I don't even understand the point. It's basically shampooing the hair several times during the month to strip the hair from remaining oils.

    • @esthertjones
      @esthertjones 10 місяців тому +15

      @@LoXenaI don't think the shampooing is the issue. It's the very stripping and drying shampoos followed up by tons of gel with no leave-in and going for a week with the hair dry and crunchy that's the issue IMO.

    I just went back to watch the beginning of the video. LiTedra use to be my curly specialist and she did the same thing to me when I called her out. Initially when I was having issues for a year she kept putting the blame on me. She never once took into consideration that the products didn’t work for my hair.

    1:41:56 I thought technically, a moisturizer has humectants with water which holds the water to the hair? It can also have oils/butters/silicones along with the water and humectants to further keep water in/fill the hair with moisture("moisturize") too though.
    Thus aloevera/glycerin(humectants) + water is technically a moisturizer. Depending on the weather(and probably the hair) determines whether that is enough or if oils are also needed i think.
    A leave in conditioner with water but no humectants(only conditioning agents) would be a hydrator like you said with the aphogee provitamin, though it has silicone in it...
